Fall is here! This means it is the perfect time to start shopping for the fall 2016 seasons most fabulous styles.

Fall 2016 is all about boho-chic, 1970s inspiration, metallics, berry hues, shades of blue, embellishments, statement handbags, and texture. To find all of these hot-off-the-runway trends, which are even hotter on the streets, Santana Row is your one-stop-shop! Love that!

The runways for fall 2016 were full of 1970s inspiration and boho-chic. What better place to find clothing and accessories to rock this trend in the autumn season than Free People! The store is full of the perfect items for the fall season. You cannot buy the wrong thing, everything is perfect!

I own several pieces from Free People. Thier clothing is high quality, and wears, and washes, well. This is important when you love a piece and wear it over, and over again! When visiting Free People, look for flares, bell-bottoms, peasant dresses or blouses, and those studded booties featured above. Love!

BCBG has fabulous, sophisticated pieces for the fall season. This is the perfect place to find clothing for the office, special events, or to mix and match for casual days. The dresses in the back of the store are perfect for gala events, cocktails parties, and any event requiring a fabulous dress. Love!

The fall collection at BCBG Santana Row reflects the current metallic trend, shades of blue trend, berry hues color trend, and 1970s influence. Think sophisticated ’70’s, that is fall at BCBG.

I am a huge fan of BCBG clothing. Their clothing wears well and is made from high quality fabrics with excellent craftsmanship. The fall season is all about embellishments, and metallics. Kendra Scott has a large selection of every metal hue you need for fall. Embellished handbags are the hottest trend to happen to handbags since the bucket bag. The fall 2016 season is all about embellished handbags. California Casual summer outfit

Have you ever heard the term “California Casual” and wondered what it meant? California Casual is in reference to a style of dressing seen on the streets of California. While east coasters adhere to a strict dress code for specific activities, us Californians prefer a laid-back, anything goes mantra when it comes to personal style; and dressing for activities.

Here in California, we can walk into a five star restaurant wearing shorts, or a denim skirt. This would not fly in the south or the east! Those regions have specific dress codes for specific locations, activities, and events.

Don’t get me wrong, just because we all live by the California Casual dress code, or should I say anti-dress code, this does not mean we can wear anything we want, all the time! When it comes to certain locations and events, we do adhere to certain codes of dress; and appropriateness.

For example, we always wear dressy, black outfits for funerals. We would never show up to pay our respects in torn denim or the like. When we attend weddings, men wear a suit and tie, and women wear skirts or dresses-no white for guests. Of course some people push the envelope and show up inappropriately dressed; but I believe that happens throughout the country. For the office, we dress according to the company’s dress code. Some industries such as law, still require a suit and tie. Other industries such as high tech, allow employees to show up in torn jeans and an old tee. There is a wide spectrum of what is considered appropriate when it comes to the office.

California Casual to me, means I have the freedom to dress according to how I feel; as long as I don’t wear white to a wedding, or red to a funeral 😉

This summer, the heat has been bothering me. I am not sure if it is because I am getting older, or because winter was so cold and my body just has not adjusted to the ninety degree heat. Whatever the reason, California Casual style has been my summer lifesaver! I love wearing espadrilles in the heat; and having the option of wearing them for dressy occasions. They pair well with skirts, and dresses. Espadrilles are not just for the beach, they are perfect for everyday life! Plus, they are so comfortable to walk in, and they keep feet cool. Love that!

I wore this outfit last weekend to Santana Row. I met my friend Laura from Have-Need-Want for brunch, and then shopped around, and visited the new Kendra Scott store opening. If you are local, definitely check out the new shop! They have so many fabulous jewelry items in stock, it is like a dream!

The temperature was high, and this California Casual summer outfit was perfect. The skirt is drawstring, the blouse is loose and flowing (natural air conditioning!), and the shoes were like slippers; only they were wedges! I am looking forward to wearing this ensemble for future shopping excursions, brunch, warm dinners, and perhaps church!

Summer Kick-Off Poptail party at Hotel Valencia

Last week Hotel Valencia at Santana Row hosted a Summer Kickoff party featuring a fun, summer drink named a “Poptail.” The Poptails featured a Popsicle and small amount of alcohol. There was also a mock Poptail offered, which Laura enjoyed, that featured a Popsicle and sparkling water. These drinks will be offered throughout the summer season at Hotel Valencia. The Popsicle was very refreshing!

The party attracted a very large crowd, which included some of my friends! It was fun to be able to run into some of my friends, and fellow local bloggers, at the event. Kendra Scott had a table at the Poptail party which gave guests details about their upcoming store opening. They also hosted a raffle where several guests were able to win beautiful jewels by Kendra Scott! You can read about the new store opening online here.

After the party, Laura and I enjoyed a yummy dinner at Pizza Antica. We sat outside, which was perfect since it was still around eighty degrees outside at 7:30pm. It was such a fun evening!
