Chenille is back, and it is back with a vengeance! This late 1990’s sweater phenomena has returned; much to the chagrin of dryers everywhere! Let’s take a quick trip down chenille memory lane, shall we?

It was the late 1990’s, and for some strange reason we all thought wearing dark lip liner with pale pink, tan, or purple lipstick was attractive. . .um yeah, moving on. . . Sugar Ray was on every radio station from coast to coast, and shopping via the Internet was a scary thing to do. When the weather cooled down, all we wanted was something soft and cozy to keep us comforted and warm; perhaps it was the dark lip liner with pale lipstick trend which was haunting us that made us all seek the comfort of chenille. . . though to ponder, but I digress. . .

Chenille was everywhere. We had chenille sweaters in all styles. We adorned our homes with chenille pillows, throws, blankets, and even upholstery. We all thought this ultra soft yarn woven into plush fabric was the greatest thing since sliced bread and the invention of the CD; until it was time to clean it. This is when the backlash started!

If you have ever owned chenille home goods, you know they wear out; quickly. The more you sit down, and stand up, chenille upholstery wears out, leaving threadbare sofas, chairs, and the like. Yikes! That chenille throw you cuddled up in while watching a movie on the sofa? Yeah, you spilled your hot cocoa on it, and when when you washed it, it became see-through. Your favorite chenille sweater? You washed it and yikes! It was no longer a sweater. The horror! It only took about two years before everyone on the planet figured out chenille was the worst thing since accidentally washing your reds with your whites.

Imagine my horror when I found out chenille was back for a second run in fall 2017! I was like, whaaaaaat????? Oh yes, this soft and alluring fabric pulls you in, then when you try to care for it by washing it, or wearing it too often, it becomes threadbare! Why are we wearing it again? Remind me? Oh, I know!

Chenille for fall 2017 is stronger then it was close to twenty years ago. I can’t speak for home goods, but as far as sweaters go, the new version is washable! Love! So, I decided to roll the dice and invest in a cozy chenille cardigan for the fall 2017 season. What do you think? So far it isn’t shedding, it isn’t getting worn down to the threads after being worn, and I can wash it without holding my breath. It lives! It stays cozy! It stays full of fluffy threads! Love!

So, the moral of the story is that you can buy some of fall 2017’s chenille pieces without worrying about them getting threadbare.

Can’t get enough of my . . . black top handle satchel!

silver boots for fall 2017 pleated skirts for fall

black satchel and outfit details shown in this post:

I think as a blogger, it is always fun to go through your posts and find items which reappear on a regular basis. In May, I discovered my favorite boyfriend jeans were on repeat; and I wondered if you were getting bored of them, or loving them! It was fun to write a post about how much I wear them, and love them. To this day, I still wear them often, although I am trying to not post them as much, for fear I’m boring you. What are your thoughts? Do you enjoy continuing to see an item I wear on repeat, or does it bore you to see it so often? Please weigh in with a comment!

This top handle black satchel by Givenchy has been in my closet since 2014. I found in early 2015 that is it a workhorse handbag. I wore this satchel to fashion week in February 2015, and found it was perfect for carrying my camera, as well as everything else I need to hold in my purse. I loved it so much, I purchased an Antigona in pale blue. Although the pale blue does not get worn nearly as often as the black version, it is still a workhorse and favorite bag of mine.

There are so many things to love about my small Givenchy Antigona bag. Aside from the sturdy build, hearty sugar leather, and ideal size; this bag can be worn with almost anything, for any occasion! I carry it when I wear jeans, workout clothing, dresses, skirts, office attire, casual attire; you name it! This bag has a classic, almost-doctor-bag silhouette which offers a chic look, and timeless style. The construction is extremely sturdy; I have discovered this over the years by carrying heavy objects such as my DSLR camera. I have also found, that it is my favorite bag for getting through fashion week.

Although I love owning shoulder bags, clutches, and totes, my Givenchy Antigona satchel is my all-time favorite bag. I cannot imagine living without it. I keep it out and ready for use everyday. It fits snacks and toys for my kids, as well as work items for when I am on the go in the fashion scene. This bag has it all. When you hear the term “investment bag,” my Givenchy Antigona goes beyond the financial definition of an investment bag, for me, it is a priceless tool that gets me through the day.

This bag transcends seasons, and trends. Like a Chanel 2.55 bag, the Givenchy Antigona is a classic. Someday I would love to add one to my collection in a neutral hue such as tan or beige.

Do you have a handbag in your closet that you can’t get enough of? I would love to hear about it!

Vivienne Hu sent her spring 2018 collection down the New York Fashion Week runway on September 10, 2017 at the Skylight Clarkson in New York. It was a chic yet light and airy collection featuring all-white, city-chic looks paired with classic handbags which were both functional, and  fashion-forward. Love!

There was a certain sophistication to Vivienne Hu’s spring 2018 collection which elevated the way a woman should dress this upcoming warm weather season. The pieces were perfect for the office, or mixed and matched for fundraiser luncheons, brunch, dinner, the theater, or weekend activities. The overall vibe of the collection was chic, sleek, and sophisticated. Love!

Vivienne Hu managed to incorporate spring 2018’s trends into her collection with understated flair pants, cropped tops, and peek-a-boo, cold shoulders. The all-white, and all-black looks on her runway were timeless yet modern; making them ideal for anyone’s closet.

My apologies for my photo quality, I did my best to capture my favorite looks from between heads 😉 The black suit and the off-the-shoulder look are my favorites from the runway, which look is your favorite? You can see the entire collection in my iPhone final walk video below.
