It has been such a cold fall season! As we head into winter here in the San Francisco Bay Area, the weather is getting chillier, and chillier! Due to this fact, I find myself reaching for my turtleneck sweater a few times per week!

A turtleneck sweater is such a great piece on its’ own, or layered under a coat. I love how it can be casual when paired with jeans, or look pulled together with an office appropriate skirt. A turtleneck sweater can also be spiced up with long necklaces, or a blanket scarf! Love that!

In the photos above, I paired my favorite turtleneck sweater with a warm, wool blend skirt from last year. I adore this skirt! I originally purchased it for fashion week in September 2014. It worked out well in my suitcase since it was easy to pair with different tops. I love how it is black in back, and grey in front!

In order to wear a skirt in the 40 degree weather we have been enduring lately, I have found my boots are a life saver. They keep my legs warm, and allow me to wear skirts for church or work meetings. If you have been following along, you have seen me write about how fabulous these boots are in past articles. They are extremely comfortable, I can walk for miles in them, and they are currently on sale! Fabulous!

Which pieces do you find yourself reaching for often in order to stay warm? Do you brave wearing skirts in cold weather, or do you stick with warm pants?

Shades of blue for winter

When I was in New York for fashion week back in September, I was thrilled to see so many shades of blue on the runways! Since blue is my favorite color, this is definitely a color trend I don’t mind jumping on as quickly as possible!

This short coat caught my eye right away at Banana Republic. Not only is it a great casual style, perfect for wearing with jeans, it is a fabulous shade of blue! I love the bright, pale turquoise color which brightens up a dreary winter day. In addition to being bright, this coat is extremely cozy! I love staying warm in it. If you need a perfect, cozy, casual coat for right now, this is the coat to check out! You will love it.

The blanket scarf pictured above is also my favorite blanket scarf this season. It is soft, smooth, and very cozy. It adds additional warmth to any outfit I wear; and I love the color mix! The soft grey combined with green, and two shades of blue, makes this blanket scarf so pretty! It also comes in purple, which I am tempted to pick up since both colors are on sale! I may pick up a couple to give as gifts for Christmas too. It can easily roll up and fit inside a stocking! Can we say best. stocking. stuffer, ever! Yes! Maybe Santa will fill my stocking with the purple one. . .hmmmm

I find myself reaching for this coat and scarf combination often. I love how the two pieces look together. Do you have a particular scarf you reach for when you wear a certain jacket or coat? Please share in the comments below!

The earrings I am wearing in these photos is a favorite pair of mine. You may have noticed in previous outfit posts, I wear them often! They come in a dozen colors, so if you are looking for a last minute stocking stuffer, these are a great option! Or, a little somthin’ somthin’ for yourself 😉

I hope you are staying warm this season. If you need a casual coat, I highly recommend this one! It is really warm, comfortable, and cozy! Have a great holiday season and thanks for stopping by!

XOXO

Cathy

nars hard to get nail polish winter holidays 2015

Nars Hard To Get nail polish from the Steven Klein beauty collection for Nars

Nars Hard To Get nail polish is a fabulous, deep, dark chocolate brown nail hue which is downright fabulous! This naturally neutral tone offers a cool brown color which is three dimensional with a very slight, shimmering finish. Love!

This fabulous neutral brown is unlike other brown nail polish colors on the market. While brown tends to be a warm color, Nars Hard To Get nail polish is a cool brown; giving it an unique look. This is the perfect cool brown to add to your nail polish wardrobe! Since it is a cool color, it looks amazing with silver, and white gold, jewelry!

I tested out Nars Hard To Get nail polish with one base coat, two coats of color, and one top coat. The nail polish lasted a full week before I needed to change it due to nail growth. Love that!

Nars Hard To Get nail polish is an easy color to wear on a daily basis. It blends well with the winter color palette; as well as the holiday color palette. Since Nars Hard To Get is a neutral nail color, it will also glide easily into the resort season.

If you are not familiar with Nars nail polish, it is a high quality polish which is highly ship resistant. I love the applicator brush which does not clump, and is the perfect width. Nars nail polish always glides on easily, and streak free!

If you are looking for a fabulous neutral nail polish for your collection, or to wear as your current signature nail polish, then Nars Hard To Get is an ideal color. It looks amazing with any color of apparel, and it looks fabulous with white metal jewelry. This is definitely a color I look forward to wearing in any season!
