Dinner and a sunset on the Napa River

winter dinner outfit ideas napahow to dress for dinner sunset napa river

After Christmas, we took a quick road trip up to the Napa Valley with our kids. On the first day, we checked into our hotel around 3:30pm, and then headed over to downtown Napa to walk around and enjoy dinner. It was fun showing the kids around the historic buildings, and to walk along the Napa River at Sunset.

The river area was decorated for the holidays with lights, and pretty decorations. My kids loved seeing all the holiday decor, and checking out a new town they haven’t visited before.

For dinner, we ate at Napkins Bar & Grill which is across the street from the river in Downtown Napa. I had heard the food was good, but WOW! All five of us loved what we ordered and ate! My oldest daughter ordered the chicken dish which she said was delicious. My middle child decided to have an appetizer buffet with wings and sliders; both of which she loved. My son had a plate of pasta which he too, enjoyed. My husband had the pork chops, which he thought was cooked to perfection, and quite tasty. I enjoyed a cup of clam chowder to start, and for my entree, scallops with risotto; which was fabulous and I am craving another plate of it as I type this! If you go, definitely try at least one of these dishes, you will love it!

Our dinner was really yummy, but as all children tend to do, they asked for dessert! My husband had noticed a Ben & Jerry’s sign while we were walking around, so after dinner, we walked over to get ice cream for the kids. I was stuffed from dinner, but still managed to enjoy an entire egg nog milkshake! haha yummy!

Heading to New York Fashion Week for the spring 2020 collections

travel outfit ideas fall

travel outfit details: pearl earrings / sunglasses / black 3/4 sleeve tee / Chloe bag / jeans / nail polish / cowgirl boots (so comfy!!) /

I’m heading to New York for fashion week! Normally I travel on Wednesday so that I am there for the Thursday shows, but this season, the schedule was a little thrown off. First off, I originally booked my trip to be my usual Wednesday-Sunday. Then, the CFDA put out a press release stating that NYFW would be Friday evening through Wednesday. I was like-whaaaaat??? So, I called my airline and moved my flight to Friday through Tuesday. The ticket turned out to be a lot less expensive and I ended up with a $248 credit. Yee-haw!

Well. . .early August rolled around and the production arm of fashion week posted the New York Fashion Week schedule online. Guess what?! It had shows from Thursday through Wednesday. Um, what??? Sooooooo. . . .I changed my flight for nothing! At this point, I already had my trip planned, and I had help arranged for my kids while I would be gone, so Friday through Tuesday I would travel!

Having a different schedule this time around is actually going to be fun. While I am missing a few shows I normally attend on Thursday and Friday such as Tadashi, and Laurence & Chico, I have the opportunity to attend some designer runways I haven’t seen before. This will be a ton of fun, and I will be able to bring some new designers to you! Yay! Everything happens for a reason, right?!

Shop my New York Fashion Week suitcase:

I’m flying out Friday morning, and I will attend one late show Friday night; barring any flight delays. Be sure to follow along on Instagram to see my Insta-stories which will be filled with everything NYFW! If you would like to see any specific types of coverage such as street style, behind the scenes, etc., feel free to email me or leave a comment below!

Thanks for following along, and see you in New York!

Escaping the heat in Ventura

wearing: pearl earrings (similar here) / sunglasses / summer lipstick / fall long sleeve tee / nail polish / Chloe bag / fall jeans / espadrille mules (on major sale!)

Is it crazy hot where you live? It’s in the high 90’s, low 100’s here in the San Francisco Bay Area right now! It’s so warm, we are all melting! In order to escape the heat, and also take one last quick trip before school starts, we decided to take a mini road trip down to Ventura.

If you are not familiar with the California coast, Ventura is a small beach town south of Santa Barbara. It’s not super crowded, and it has a large harbor, good restaurants, and plenty of cool fog! Love fog right now!

Our first day in Ventura felt so good. It was roughly thirty degrees cooler than at home, and we actually felt a little bit cold. This was such a good thing! We left home in the morning and drove for five hours down the coast. We arrived in Ventura around 2:30pm and checked into our hotel. We stayed at the Four Points Sheraton near the Village, which is a small shopping area next to the boat harbor. It has shops, restaurants, and a carousel which was closed-boo for us! It was a nice place to stay since we could walk to the restaurants, and enjoy harbor views.

We ate dinner at Water’s Edge, which is not in the Village, but a short walk on the other side of the harbor. The food was out of this world! I enjoyed the “Trophy Pasta” which was crazy good-and my family really enjoyed their meals too. If you are ever in the Ventura area, this is a restaurant you will want to visit! The views of the harbor are beautiful, you can watch the sunset, and the food is really yummy. Love that!

We packed more into this weekend getaway! Stay tuned for more from Ventura!
