Chanel spring 2013 Paris Fashion Week

Ah Chanel. Karl Lagerfeld has created a beautiful and playful collection for the spring/summer 2013 season. As seen at Paris Fashion Week on Tuesday, the Chanel collection is colorful and shows many trends from the spring 2012 season which are continuing into the new year.

Chanel showed kitschy fashion including an oversized shoulder bag with hoola-hoop handles. There was color blocking, multi-color tweed, bright colors, pastels, 1960’s silhouettes, platform shoes, oversized jewelry, a bubble theme, florals and clutches; many many clutches!

The overall collection was fabulous and inspirational for the upcoming spring/summer 2013 season. What do you think of the collection? Was it a hit or miss for you?

Santana Row celebrates 10 years of fabulous shopping, dining and entertainment

Santana Row kicked off their ten year anniversary celebrations on September 27 at 6pm with a special VIP cocktail party for 200 guests which attracted local politicians and celebrities. Guests of the event dined on delicious food provided by Santana Row restaurants and guests also enjoyed an exclusive cocktail which was designed for the evening.

We knew the evening would be fabulous when we arrived at the VIP party and quickly noticed the amazing floral arrangements, hip white furniture and cozy pillows. The DJ kept the party energetic and the crowd was one of the most fashionable gatherings we have spotted in a long, long time.

After guests were able to enjoy the fabulous food and drinks provided by Santana Row, party goers were treated to informal modeling by Federal Reality employees, Santana Row VIP’s and even Sal Pizzaro from the San Jose Mercury News. (We have to admit, he stole the show when he went down the runway with his beautiful daughter in-hand.)

Mayor Chuck Reid was on hand to give a heartfelt speech and so was Councilman Pierluigi Oliverio. Debbie Allison, a member of the Junior League of San Jose and professional singer from England closed the runway show by singing Katy Perry’s “Firework.” And let me tell you, her voice is one of the most beautiful sounds you will ever hear!

In addition to the fabulous VIP soirée, H&M was celebrating their grand opening in their new; two story location where Border’s used to be. The retailer offered in-store, opening day only discounts and rocked the house with a DJ. Shoppers were buzzing and purchasing armloads of clothing and accessories. The new H&M has a huge women’s department, men’s department and the cutest kids clothing you have ever seen! Loved it!

Also, if you happen to be in the San Jose area, September 29 & 30 Santana Row retailers will be donating 10% of sales back to the San Jose Fire Department in honor of the heroic work they did ten years ago fighting the famous Santana Row fire which threatened the grand opening  of the shopping area. Of course, due to the fabulous work by the firefighters and perseverance of Santana Row, the energetic shopping, dining and entertainment opened without a hitch and continues to grow and thrive to this day.

Cheers Santana Row! It has been a fabulous ten years and here’s looking forward to many decades to come!

How to get the beauty look from Dolce & Gabbana’s fall 2012 runway

Dolce & Gabbana’s fall 2012 collection shown during Milan Fashion Week was nothing short of amazing. The designing duo presented a collection which evoked the opulence of Sicilian Baroque. The line featured intricate brocade details against a classic black and gold color palette which inspired Fashionistas everywhere for the upcoming cool weather season.

In order to create the ultimate beauty look on the models, make-up artist Pat McGrath used Dolce & Gabbana beauty products to create the ultimate fall beauty look on the runway which not only complimented the accessory and apparel collection, the look inspired new beauty trends for the fall season. Pat McGrath translated Dolce & Gabbana’s vision into makeup by combing tonal nudes and rich gold accents.

This season we were inspired by the exquisite detail found in Baroque architecture and design,” says Domenico Dolce.  “We wanted to reflect the delicate perfection of embroidery and the details you see in tapestries; the iconic grandeur of cherubs, capodimonte flowers, intricate motifs and stitching,” adds Stefano Gabbana.

Dolce & Gabbana and Pat McGrath have shared the beauty secrets from backstage at Milan Fashion Week in order to help us achieve this flawless and fabulous face at home. The following text was written and provided by Pat McGrath and Dolce & Gabbana:

To achieve a flawless look Pat applied The Perfect Finish Creamy Foundation using The Foundation Brush

She carefully blended the foundation adding extra coverage on the nose and forehead. The Perfect Finish Concealer was then used to achieve a flawless, ethereal look illuminated with light.

Finally Pat used The Luminous Cheek Colour in Delight, sweeping colour lightly across models’ cheekbones for a romantic flush

On the eyes, The Smooth Eye Colour Quad in Gold and Desert were applied in layers to create a luxurious, gilt rich tone.

The Crayon Intense Eyeliner in Nude was then worked along the lash line above and below the eyes to brighten the look and add further definition.

Finally, several coats of The Secret Eyes Mascara in Coffee were applied, achieving long, volumized lashes for a flirtatious look.

Turning her attention to the lips, Pat applied The Classic Cream Lipstick in Petal and Mandorla, mixing the colors together for a soft, sensual lip with a subtle sheen. The color was applied with greater intensity at the cupid’s bow for a pearlescent finish.

Pat chose The Intense Nail lacquer in Nude for a final subtle accent. The luxuriant finish of the nail color perfectly completed the sensuous makeup look.

Pat McGrath explained: “It was wonderful to create this make up look for this collection; there is a real sense of divine drama to the clothes and so I wanted to bring that to life with the makeup look. The models look refined and flawless, and their gilt edged lids really refer to the Designers’ lavish inspiration.”
