New York Fashion Week winter style

Day Two New York Fashion Week: Hat: Wildfox / Sunglasses: Chanel / Earrings: Kendra Scott / Lipstick: Chanel Mighty / Coat: TopShop (on major sale!) / Scarf: Banana Republic (old, similar here) / Leggings: Hue / Gloves: Brian Atwood for Target (old, also love these-they look so fun!) / Handbag: Givenchy / Shoes: Rag & Bone (sold out, also love this pair)

It has been cold here in New York for fashion week! The lows have been single digits, and on Friday, the highs were in the 20’s. So to combat the cold, and display my winter style, I wore this cozy TopShop coat to stay warm. It worked like a charm!

This coat has been the perfect alternative to a basic black coat; I don’t event wear my black coat anymore! I love the faux fur detail, it really adds warmth, and texture to the coat. Can you believe this coat is under $200, and it is currently on major sale! I was so happy when I bought it on sale, it was like striking oil!

To give my winter style a pop of spring, I paired my coat with spring 2016 earrings, and my favorite cobalt scarf for a pop of bright, sunny weather color. I felt like it brought a little cheer to an otherwise cold, and dreary day!

Day two of New York Fashion Week was jam-packed with shows! My first show was Zimmermann at noon. It was so amazing! I loved all the details; stay tuned for my write-up on the show! After Zimmermann, Laura from Have Need Want and I hopped in an Uber and sped off to Issosy London, a children’s brand. Then we were off to meet L’Oreal backstage for the Pamella Roland show. The hairstyles were amazing! I can’t wait to show you how to get the runway look at home!

The day continued with O’2nd, Cromat, Nika Tang, Francesca Liberatore, and Demoo Parkchoonmoo. The shows were so amazing, stay tuned for my recaps on these shows!

Finally, at 945pm, after freezing in the cold all day, dealing with a dead iPhone battery, a dead iPhone backup battery, and no food, Laura and I found a fabulous restaurant named Westville. It had the most amazing farm to table menu with plenty of vegan and vegetarian options. It was the perfect dinner after a full day on our feet!

This version of my winter style proved to be comfortable, and warm, on a very cold, and busy day! If you are looking for a comfortable coat to wear now, and for next year, this is a great option! It is on sale, and in my opinion, it is really cute! You can find this cozy coat on sale here.

Stay tuned for more New York Fashion Week winter style, runway coverage, and behind the scenes posts!

Lace trench coat for spring

Pictured: Sunglasses: Chanel / Earrings: Kendra Scott / Scarf: Banana Republic (old, similar here on sale!) / Lace Trench Coat: Express (spring coat styled for cold winter weather-great transitional piece!) / Sweater: Banana Republic / Handbag: Givenchy / Rings: Kendra Scott / Nail Polish: c/o Dolce & Gabbana Bonbon / Leggings: Lysse / Booties: Sam Edelman

When I spotted this lace trench coat at Express, I knew I had to have it! It is perfect to wear now, and into the spring season. Since I love this lace trench coat so much, I decided to wear it on day one of New York Fashion Week.

Since the weather in New York for fashion week was in the 20’s, I needed to style this spring trench coat for cold, winter temperatures. Since it is a long sleeve, trench coat, it was easy to layer over a sweater, and thick, warm leggings. I love how this lace trench coat can transition from winter into spring! It will look so cute in the spring over a skirt, or a black dress. It would also look amazing over a bright, solid color dress!

I started the day off by meeting my friend Rita at Samba Sushi for lunch. It is a Peruvian/Japanese fusion restaurant. I never thought those two flavors could mix; but they do! The food was fabulous. If you are in the SoHo area of New York, definitely check it out! You will love it!

Day one of New York Fashion Week was cold, but very exciting! I started the day off by attending one of my favorite shows; Marissa Webb. Her show was fabulous. I loved the texture, the fabrics, the coats, and especially the booties! Oh the booties are number one on my fall 2016 wish list!

After Marissa Webb, I attended A Detacher. This was a cutting edge collection with cozy knits, warm hats, and butterfly sleeves! I loved the collection, Watch for my write-up on the blog soon!

I finished out the day with Marcel Ostertag. I had a second row seat, but ended up getting bumped up to the front row! It was an amazing view. I love his coats, and how he works with sequins. His pieces have so much movement and dimension. Watch for my write-up on his collection soon too!

If you are looking for a great piece to take you from winter into spring, definitely check out this lace trench coat. It is perfect to wear now; and into the spring season!

Travel outfit to New York Fashion Week

what to wear on an airplane in the winter air travel outfit idea

Pictured: Sunglasses: Chanel / Earrings: Kendra Scott (new for spring!) / Lipstick: Chanel Mighty / Sweater: Banana Repubic (on sale!!) / Coat: Topshop (under $200!!) / Jeans: Gap / Rings: Kendra Scott / Nail Polish: Dior Bleuette / Booties: Sam Edelman / Handbag: Fendi / Suitcases: Samsonite (on sale!)

I wore this travel outfit on the airplane from San Francisco to New York for fashion week. I have a formula for my travel outfits. I always wear jeans on an airplane because they are a thick fabric, and also comfortable. There is nothing worse than fussy clothing on an airplane! Jeans are anything but fussy.

When it comes to my outerwear, I prefer to wear a dark colored coat when I travel in the winter. When you are traveling, you touch, and sit, in public places, so wearing dark colors is always a safe bet. It is also easier to wear a thick coat when traveling on a airplane, then trying to stuff it into precious suitcase space! I try to travel light.

For footwear, I like to wear my bulkiest pair of shoes on the airplane; as long as they are comfortable. This frees up suitcase space for more clothing, and smaller shoes.

Layers are key when traveling on an airplane during the winter months. Since San Francisco has a much more mild climate than New York, my outfit is essentially San Francisco weather-ready, and with the coat, it turns into a New York weather-ready outfit. I also keep my gloves, and beanie, in my handbag so I can easily reach for them when I get off the plane, and head outside for my ground transportation.

I try to wear little jewelry when traveling on an airplane. There is no reason to wear fussy, and noisy, bangles. There is also no reason to wear a large ring which may hit into things, or people. One pair of comfortable earrings, and a small ring, if any, is plenty of jewelry for an airplane outfit.

This is my formula for traveling from the west coast, to the east coast, during the winter! What is your formula for an airplane outfit during the winter months?
