One of the big trends I noticed on the spring 2020 runways was vintage inspiration from the 50’s, 60’s, and 90’s. Although we have barely touched the fall season, it is always fun to see which trends will reach well into the next year; and vintage inspiration is one of them!

When I spotted this mixed print, polka dot skirt at Chico’s for the fall season, I knew I needed I build a vintage inspired look around it. Chico’s has a fabulous selection of print scarves for fall, so I thought a contrasting print neckerchief tied 90’s style would do the trick. After all, 90210 has been revived, so aren’t we all feeling a little nostalgic for the 90’s?

I’m a sucker for a good black top which can pair with anything in my closet, so this understated black twist top looked perfect for tying the look together. I love how it looks amazing with this skirt, and also with jeans and sneakers. It’s definitely going to be my go-to black top this fall!

Now, isn’t fashion week all about pushing the limits of style? Of course! So I had to snap up these fun black and white sunglasses from Chico’s too. They added the perfect amount of pizzazz to my New York Fashion Week look. This was so much fun to wear to the runways! I loved mixing vintage inspiration from multiple decades, it’s a fun look.

I also wore this scarf around my ponytail with another outfit during the week, and the sunglasses were worn with every outfit except one. Chico’s has such great mix-and-match  pieces, they are great for travel and building a wardrobe in general. Be sure to check out everything new for fall at Chico’s!

Island paradise to the streets of Silicon Valley

Outfit details: pearl earrings (similar here) / sunglasses / summer lipstick / white tee / palm print kimono (on major sale!) / snake belt / dark wash skinny jeans / nail polish / bold ring / Chloe bag / black espadrille mules / Hawaii outfit details here.

This kimono was so much fun to wear in Hawaii. I kept getting compliments on the street when I wore it, and perfect strangers don’t compliment my outfits very often!

When I got back home, I found myself reaching for this kimono often. Turns out, it’s perfect for spicing up jeans and a tee; you know I am always trying to level up basic jeans and a tee! This kimono is perfect; plus it’s super soft and comfortable. Love that!

To make this tropical kimono look right on the streets of Silicon Valley, I switched to a leather bag, ditched the hat, and wore more understated jewelry. Worked like a charm! I’m getting compliments on this kimono when I wear it here at home too. This is definitely my favorite piece of the year! Love love love!

There is nothing I love more than getting complimented on something I wear. Don’t we all put effort into our looks? It’s nice when people notice. I always try to compliment strangers when I like something they are wearing, sometimes it’s tough to remember. Since this kimono gets a lot of attention, I am making more of an effort to remember to let people know they look good. Sometimes a little compliment can help someone have a better day.

Shades of blue on a Hawaiian summer evening

wearing: bold silver earrings / sun hat / sunglasses / summer lipstick / bold silver necklace / blue ombre dress (on major sale!) / floral blue scarf / summer nail polish / blue bracelet / woven handbag / ivory wedge espadrilles /

One of the beautiful things about Hawaii, is how blue the water is! At home, our skies are often overcast or grey, so the water doesn’t look very colorful. In Hawaii, the close proximity to the equator, coupled with the crystal clear water, creates the perfect environment for incredible shades of blue.

This blue ombre dress I picked up from Chico’s was perfect for a Hawaiian dinner near the water. It evoked the same shades of blue seen in the Pacific Ocean waters of Hawaii. This blue floral scarf paired with the dress gave the look it’s overall island vibe. This was my favorite outfit of the trip!

I love blue, but I also love dressing in theme with my surroundings. This dress evoked the perfect vibe for strolling on the streets of Hawaii during sunset, as well as dining by the beach.

Since this dress mimicked the ocean blue hues, I wore it for our family dinner at The Fish Hopper. This incredible restaurant is famous for it’s clam chowder and Mai Tai’s. While I skipped the Mai Tai, I did enjoy a cup of clam chowder, which for the record, was out of this world!

The Fish Hopper sits across the street from the beach just a few steps away from our hotel in Kona. It offered a beautiful view of the ocean, and an incredible menu. My scallop risotto was out of this world, and everyone in my family really enjoyed their meals.

As it turns out, they have a location in Monterey! Who knew! So we can re-visit this delicious Hawaiian meal back home. Yum!
