Spring into fall and stay pinch-free on St Patrick’s Day with green

One of the biggest colors for spring 2012 is green. This bright hue is being shown in many shades of green including neon, bright, blue-green, seafoam green and pastel. The fabulous thing about the color green, is that the shade is continuing to be hot for fall 2012; in fact, green has been forecasted through 2013, love that!

Today is March 1, that means there are seventeen days until the leprechauns come out to play on St. Patrick’s Day. One of the best ways to avoid the tricks of leprechauns is to wear green. Pesky little leprechauns love to pinch people who are not wearing green; this cannot happen to you! You are a Fashionista!
Thankfully green is hot this season, so if you do not have something green in your closet, you can feel good about buying something in this popular color since it will continue to grace the runways through 2013.
We found a few items around the web and assembled them into the Polyvore set below in order to help get you started. Hope you love it!

Go Green for St. Patrick’s Day

St. Patrick’s Day is tomorrow and many Fashionistas may be wondering how to be green without actually wearing green. Whether or not one celebrates St. Patrick’s Day is a moot point. Since the theme color of the day is green, why not Go Green too!

There are many ways to Go Green on St. Patrick’s aside from wearing green. In fashionable terms, you can Go Green by wearing sustainable clothing or jewelry; or both! Eco-conscious jewelry can be found atTwisted Silver, and with coupon code INSIDERS, you can save 15%! You can also find eco-conscious tee-shirts and totes at Quote Couture.

If you do not own sustainable clothing and accessories, and shopping for them is out of the question, you can Go Green on the cheap. The Go Green term that many Fashionistas are familiar with is “Reduce Reuse Recycle.” March 17, 2011 is a great day to start gearing up for Earth Day in April.

Reduce: Why not turn off or turn down your heating system for a day? Wearing a sweatshirt to bed or around the house is a great way to stay warm and save energy by keeping your heating usage down.

Reuse: Thinking of throwing away a cardboard box? Why not reuse it! Cardboard boxes can always be used to store items such as winter clothing over the spring and summer months. They can also be converted into a fort for children to play in. Did you know Neiman Marcus sells cardboard playhouses for close to $100?! Why not make one and reuse your old cardboard!

Recycle: Have items that your recycling company will not take such as batteries or an old computer? Why not use Thursday as the day to drop those recyclable items off at your local recycling facility! Do you have cans or bottles with redemption value? Why not take those items out of your collection bin and bring them to a local recycling center. You will earn enough cash for lunch the next day! Fabulous!

What are your favorite ways to reduce reuse and recycle? Feel free to share in the comment section below. Thank you and stay fabulous

Fabulous ways to avoid being pinched on St. Patrick’s Day

St. Patrick ’s Day is this Thursday and anyone who dares to leave the house without wearing green is in grave danger of being pinched! Not only can a Fashionista run the risk of being pinched for not wearing green, the absence of the color being integrated into one’s wardrobe is a fashion faux-pas!

Of course the obvious way to avoid being pinched on Thursday, March 17, 2011 is to wear something in your closet that is green. If you own a green shirt, dress, sweater etc that happens to be the shade o’ the shamrock, then you are in luck! For everyone else, creativity is in order.

The easiest way to wear green and keep the Luck O’ The Irish on your side is to wear a St. Patrick ’s Day tee-shirt. Target Stores have a large amount of Irish themed tee-shirts in stock which start at the nice price of $6. The tee-shirts have a variety of traditional Irish sayings such as “Kiss Me I’m Irish,” “Go Green” and “Lucky Charm.”

Not into wearing green? Never fear! You can easily avoid the pinch by wearing accessories that are green, or even wearing a green barrette.  If you prefer to go lux, a green gemstone ring or pair of earrings is a good choice. A more light-hearted choice would be a green mardi-gras bead necklace.

No green and no time for shopping? There is still a way to Go Green without getting pinched. Instead of wearing green, BE green! You can use March 17 as day for finding ways around your home to reduce, reuse and recycle. You can also work hard to reduce water and power usage too. If you have clothing or accessories made from sustainable materials, you can wear them and technically be green! And if someone tries to pinch you? Stop them in their tracks by telling them how you have been green for St. Patrick’s Day! Fabulous!

St. Patrick’s Day is a light-hearted holiday which was first celebrated when Catholicism was brought to Ireland. Over time, the holiday became associated with the celebration of the Irish culture. In modern times, the holiday is still a religious holiday for Catholics while the secular world celebrates either the Irish culture, or celebrates for the sake of celebration! As for Fashionistas, religious or not, the holiday is also about making green fabulous. Happy St. Patrick’s Day, try to avoid getting pinched, and stay fabulous
