Did you know I enjoy running? I am not a very fast runner, but I find it fun nonetheless. My new favorite running shoe is the Nike Air Zoom Pegasus, and I love that I was able to customize my new pair through Nike ID.

If you follow me on Instagram, it might appear that all I do is shop, eat, rinse and repeat. In reality, that is only a small part of my day. My three children, my work, my husband, and my fitness routine are also a huge part of my life.

Growing up, I was a very serious athlete. I trained over twenty-five hours per week for middle distance, and long distance swimming. I dreamed of going to the Olympics one day. My entire focus in fitness, was being fit for swimming so that I could win.

Fast forward twenty-plus years and a huge shoulder injury later; and it is easy to see I never made the Olympic team (thanks shoulder injury!), and my fitness goals have changed.

As a busy Mother of three, who is also managing my own business, I have to stay fit. I need to remain healthy and active for the sake of my family. Plus, it also feels good to be healthy!

In order to stay fit, I swim, run, attend fitness classes at my gym, and hike. I have found, that one of the most important ways to have a successful workout, aside from being properly hydrated, is to wear the proper footwear.

Since I was in high school, Nike has always been my choice of footwear for sports. For swimming, we crossed trained. Part of our cross training was running. I always needed to own at least one good pair of running shoes. Those shoes were always Nike.

Since high school, I have continued to wear Nike shoes for all activities sports-related. I swear by their cross training shoes, and tennis shoes. Of course, I always have at least one pair of Nike running shoes in my closet.

When Nike came out with NIKE ID years ago, I was thrilled! I quickly customized my own pair of cross trainers with my “CathyLSG” ID. This also happens to be my Twitter handle.

I had the opportunity to meet with a Nike representative when I was in New York for fashion week and we talked about Nike ID. I was already in love with the concept of shoe customization and had customized my own shoes in the past, but I had never tried the Nike Air Zoom Pegasus. It is one of Nike’s most iconic running shoes. I was excited to be able to test out a pair!

I love all the different ways you can customize your Nike shoes through Nike ID! You can pick everything from the color of the shoe laces to the color of the trim. I matched most of the colors together, but you could really make a rainbow of a shoe if you wanted to. It is so much fun! I also love the idea that my shoes are customized by me, and it is highly unlikely that anyone else will be wearing the same exact shoe as me. We could even venture to say this is “sporting couture!” Love that!

The Nike Air Zoom Pegasus 32 is extremely supportive. I have high arches and sometimes it is difficult to find footwear which properly supports them. The Nike Air Zoom Pegasus 32 has ideal arch support; and it gives my entire foot proper support. Having a well-built running shoe really makes my runs more enjoyable; and consequently I am able to run longer, thus burning more calories. I am a fashion girl after all, gotta burn those calories off!

I am excited about this fabulous pair of Nike Air Zoom Pegasus 32 ID running shoes I customized through Nike ID. I look forward to customizing more pairs in the future!

Plaid for fall

Plaid is a huge trend this fall, so when it came time to choose my outfits for New York Fashion Week, plaid seemed like a no-brainer! When I spotted this plaid skirt by ALC, I knew it was not only perfect for fashion week, it would be ideal for my fall wardrobe.

Since the plaid has black, putty, and grey in it, I decided to pick up the black for my top. It felt “New York-ish” to me. Here at home in the suburbs, I would prefer to add a pop of red to the plaid in the skirt for a top. Now, to find the perfect red top for this skirt. . .

The sleeveless top is perfect for early fall weather. When the weather starts to cool down, the addition of a leather jacket is all this ensemble will need to transition to cooler weather. This top will also look cute with flare jeans and boots for casual fall days.

I wore this outfit on day four of New York Fashion Week in September. This was a busy yet fun day. I started the day off with Fashion Shenzhen, then attended RewardStyle’s Rooftop Party, then I had FTL Moda, Georgine, Vivienne Hu, and Art Hearts Fashion. Stay tuned for my coverage of these shows!

This outfit was easy to move in; making it ideal for a busy day of running around mid-town and lower Manhattan. The skirt was comfortable and cozy. I can imagine it in cooler weather with boots and a cozy, ivory sweater. Now, we just need some cooler weather here in the Bay Area!

Flowing dress outfit at New York Fashion Week

Day three of New York Fashion Week was a busy day! I chose this flowing dress to combat the unsettled weather, and remain comfortable while running around the city attending shows and appointments.

I started the day at Kendra Scott’s showroom where I was able to view the fall 2015 collection, and preview the new winter 2016 collection. I cannot wait to share the winter collection with you in October!

After Kendra Scott’s showroom, Laura (from Have Need Want) and I popped into the Tresemme salon and tamed our humidity laden heads. They gave me a fabulous blow-out which tamed my hair for the rest of the day, and Laura came out with an amazing braid! Now if I could only replicate this process at home. . . hmmm.

Some of my favorite shows were on Saturday. I attended Jay Godfrey, Francesca Liberatore, Monique Lhuilier, and Son Jung Wan. Each show was so unique, and presented a fabulous collection for the spring 2016 season. Watch for my coverage of these shows!

This dress by BCBG was perfect for the day. It was lightweight and easy to move in. I was able to run around town fuss-free. It did not wrinkle, and allowed for a range of movements throughout the day. Squatting to photograph Laura’s outfit? No problem! Climbing in and out of a giant SUV Uber? No problem! Sitting on a cramped bench at a show? No problem! Love that 😉

I am excited to have this dress as part of my fall wardrobe. It is lightweight enough for our Bay Area fall weather; which can be warmer than summer temperatures. It will also look cute in late fall, when the temperatures dip into the 70’s and 60’s, with a leather jacket thrown over it.

Stay tuned for my coverage of the shows I attended at New York Fashion Week!
