The weather has been quite mild the last couple of weeks. This means it has been perfect tee-shirt and jeans weather! Since jeans are my favorite pants on Earth, wearing them with a comfy tee-shirt is one of my favorite weekend casual looks.

I love this 3/4 sleeve tee from Express. It is made from a soft, cotton blend, yet offers more style than your average tee. It looks ultra casual untucked, and very put-together tucked. I am looking forward to wearing this tee often this spring, in early summer, and this upcoming fall.

This season I have been in the mood to wear flats. I normally gravitate towards high heels, but with the current trend towards flat shoes, or platforms; I have chosen flats. These tie up flats from Stuart Weitzman are not only comfortable, they offer a little sass with the ties. They look cute with summer dresses too. Cannot wait to wear them with a dress! Now to find the perfect dress. . .

Winter into spring transitional outfit

February and March are always confusing months for a wardrobe. One day it will be eighty degrees and perfect weather, the next next day it can drop down to sixty degrees and start to rain. Of course, since we have a drought in the San Francisco Bay Area, we are seeing more of those eighty degree, pool days rather than the cooler, rainy days. Oh how we wish for rain! But I digress. . .

Since the weather is transitioning from winter into spring, our wardrobe needs to be able to transition too. This is why I love skirts in thick fabrics which can easily be worn with tights on cool days, and bare legs on warmer days. This Milly skirt fits the transitional bill. It has a black band at the top, covered by my shirt-sorry about that, which allows it to be worn with black tights, and a black wool coat for cool days. On warmer days, the bright colors and the festive pattern work well for a spring look. Love that!

I wore this skirt at fashion week in early February when temperatures dropped below ten degrees. I have never been so cold in my life! Thankfully, this skirt is easy to layer and added a little bright color to the dreary days in New York. My friend Jenna snapped a few pictures of me inside the tents between shows because it was way too cold to take pictures outside. Plus, I wanted to have one last photo opp with the Mercedes Benz display. This was the last fashion week in New York they would be sponsoring so I needed a little souvenir. 😉

Now that the weather is starting to warm up, and it is officially spring, I look forward to wearing this skirt with less layers; and eventually short sleeves as we head towards summer!

Skirts are my favorite transitional pieces from winter into spring, what is your favorite way to transition between seasons?

A couple of weeks ago I visited the new JCrew Factory store at Westgate Shopping Center in San Jose. It is a large store filled with so many cute outfits for both men and women. I felt like a kid in a candy store shopping there! I ended up leaving with the outfit above; and I also purchased a sweater and tee-shirt for the spring season. I fell in love with so many things!

I love the shirt in these photos. It’s boxy silhouette gives a modern touch to this pleated, a-line, knee-length skirt. It also looks amazing with classic black trousers, jeans, and denim shorts. With a simpler pair of sunglasses, this JCrew Factory top will look amazing with a statement necklace in gold or silver. Love this one by Kendra Scott; currently on my wish list. Love that!

The skirt I found at JCrew Factory is ideal for dressing up, as in the photos above, or dressing down. In addition to the top I am wearing in these photos, this skirt looks carefree and casual with a denim top and medium brown sandals. In the warm summer months, I can see wearing this skirt with a eyelet white blouse for a warm weather, resort look; paired with silver flat sandals! I love all the possibilities!

If you are local to the San Francisco Bay Area, be sure to stop in at Westgate and check out the new JCrew Factory store. There are also plenty of fabulous restaurants to grab a meal at while shopping. My kids love eating at Sushi Boat; I also love Smashburger. Veggie Grill is opening soon too!

If you are not local, please check out JcrewFactory.com for spring!
