My winter street style and a cross body phone case

I recently met my friend Dawn for brunch in downtown Los Gatos, and it was freeeee-eeeeeeezing outside! I bundled up in this warm, winter coat and threw it over my go-to knit turtleneck, and this soft, cozy pair of jeans. It worked out really well by keeping me warm!

It was also the first time I wore my new Gucci phone case, which was fun, since it is a hot handbag this year. You know I love to rock the new handbag trends! I found the cross body didn’t feel right over my coat. It would also have been clumsy to have to take off the bag if I wanted to remove my coat. So, I wore the bag underneath my coat; which is actually a great way to fend off pick-pocketers when walking around the city. Of course, I was in Los Gatos, not a big pick-pocket location, but still a good habit to keep up!

We ate at Southern Kitchen, which is on East Main St. in downtown Los Gatos. It’s a great place to grab brunch, or lunch, if you are in the area. We have met there are few times already for brunch! Yumm!!

The softest skinny jeans for a cozy winter

soft skinny jeans skinny jeans trend how to wear skinny jeans

wearing: blue and silver earrings / lipstick / white knit turtleneck / black belt / black knit wrap c/o Chico’s (on major sale!) / soft skinny jeans c/o Chico’s / spring nail polish / Chloe bag / boots (sold out, also love this pair) /

Ooooh, Chico’s has a new denim style! I have been a fan of Chico’s denim for quite some time. They always use ultra soft denim, and their jeans keep their shape after washing. So, I am super excited about their new skinny jeans!

I was thrilled to find a surprise box on my doorstep earlier this month. Chico’s had sent me a pair of their new skinny jeans to try. I was thrilled! How did they know I love their jeans??

The new skinny jeans from Chico’s are made from a really soft and stretchy denim fabric. They are very comfortable, and after washing them twice already, they have kept their shape and color. Love!

As we move from winter into spring, denim is giving us a few new styles to wear and love; thankfully the skinny jean is one of them! Actually, skinny jeans are the only mainstay in the world of denim trends right now. So investing in a good pair will carry you from season to season in 2020. It’s the most classic style on trend right now! In addition to skinny jeans, spring will bring us high waist styles, skinny cropped jeans, wide leg trouser jeans, and cropped classic fit jeans. Skinny jeans are the only style you can wear now, in the winter, and continue wearing into spring and summer. It’s the ultimate denim style for staying on trend, and not having to buy new jeans every season!! You know I love a good investment buy 😉

Classic black and white for winter

silicon valley street style chloe aby it bagspleated skirts for winter

wearing: large gold hoops / lipstick / white knit turtleneck / black belt / spring nail polish / black handbag / black and white pleated skirt / knee high suede boots /

Let’s face it, white is not a slimming color. That being said, I love how this white knit turtleneck looks with my black and white pleated skirt. So, when my daughter asked for a trip to the American Girl Store to purchase the new girl of the year book (she loves their books), I decided to try and make this white turtleneck not make me too huge. haha

Black and white is classic and chic. So it is always satisfying to put together an outfit, which is black and white, and not boring. While this knit turtleneck is ribbed, and slightly body conscious, it is a little loose; perhaps I could have sized down? It needed a little something to elevate it; the top could not be worn alone. I have to say, the easiest way to elevate a plain top or turtleneck, without using a topper, is with a belt. There is something about belting loose clothing; whether it be a top or dress, which makes an entire look appear structured and put together. Love that!

I wear this belt all the time with my jeans, this was the first time I used it to belt an article of clothing without belt loops. It worked out really well. The belt took the frump out of the loose turtleneck, and pulled the black and white outfit together. It was perfect for browsing at Stanford Shopping Center, and bringing my daughter to the American Girl store for the book.

These pieces are part of my winter capsule wardrobe. If you have not read it yet, please check it out! It’s handy to have a few pieces each season which can be mixed and matched to create a large number of outfits. It saves money, and time. Stay tuned for more capsule wardrobes this year!

These boots are comfortable for walking too! Love!
