Transition to fall: Wallis blazer

Outfit: Earrings: c/o Twisted Silver / Lipstick: c/o Laura Mercier “Sin” / Scarf: Karl Lagerfeld / Blazer: c/o Wallis / Blouse: 7 for all mankind / Jeans: Gap / Handbag: Rebecca Minkoff / Nail Polish: Chanel Bel-Argus / Bracelets: Tory Burch & Beau Bijou / Shoes: Prada

You may remember this Wallis blazer from my previous article about it last week, if not, please click here. When Wallis sent me the blazer, they challenged me to style it for summer and fall. I was happy to take on that challenge since the lightweight material and cool grey color make the blazer perfect for the transition from summer into fall.

For my fall look, I paired the blazer with wine hued coated jeans and an edgy, studded handbag by Rebecca Minkoff. I love the overall look and was happy to have a foggy day over the weekend to actually wear a fall look! The blazer was perfect until the fog burned off in the early afternoon and I had to take it off. The blazer came back on when the sun began to set and the fog was about to roll back into the valley over the Santa Cruz Mountains.

This blazer also comes in black and a  beautiful shade of cobalt blue. I am seriously thinking about getting both! The fabric and style are perfect for the transition from summer into fall. To top it off, the blazer is perfect for the micro-climate’s we have here in the San Francisco Bay Area. After all, it can be 90 degree’s in the south bay in late June, and if you drive into San Francisco, temperatures can drop to 60 degree’s. We all need a lightweight blazer for that!

If you like how I styled this blazer from Wallis, please vote for me in a contest Wallis is holding on their Facebook page. They are looking for a Brand Ambassador for New York Fashion Week! Thank you so much for your support and for being absolutely fabulous!

Twisted Silver has done it again! The fabulous Bay Area jeweler has designed a classic necklace which can be worn casual with denim (as in the above photos) or as the perfect touch to a timeless, little black dress. Love this!

The “Elegance” necklace by Twisted Silver is made from vintage crystal and glass beads on an antiqued brass chain. The vintage beads feature soft shades of bluish-grey, amber, green and white. This allows the “Elegance” necklace by Twisted Silver to easily pair with any of fall 2013’s color trends as well color trends in future seasons.

I adore this classic necklace and find it is the perfect way to spice up a casual, weekend look. When the fall season hits, I plan on wearing the “Elegance” necklace from Twisted Silver with dressier looks and tailored pieces. Love it!

Leather backpacks for fall 2013

This was a huge trend from the mid-1990’s which eventually evolved into the “mini-backpack” trend of the mid to late 1990’s. If you lived in San Francisco at the time, mini-backpacks could be spotted on almost every 20-something on Union Street and the Triangle area. This time around, mini-backpacks are scarce (let’s hope it stays that way) and medium sized, luxurious leather backpacks are everywhere.

The leather backpack, while spotted on the fall/winter 2013/2014 runways, was not a dominant trend from designers. Consumers picked up on the style and took off with it, making the leather backpack a street style trend for fall 2013.

Leather backpacks are being shown in medium sizes made from soft and slouchy leather. The leather backpack is being shown in neutral, classic hues of black, charcoal and shades of brown. This is not a trend to wear in seasonal colors, bright colors, or any colors other than black, charcoal or light to dark brown.

If you wore leather backpacks for school, work or fun back in the 1990’s and kept your backpack in storage, you are in luck! Bring it out from the back of your closet and use it for casual days this fall as an alternative to a shopper tote. If not, this is the perfect time to invest in a leather backpack. Although trendy, leather backpacks are great for traveling and make the perfect carry-on for airplane rides when they are not considered trendy. Is it classic? Yes! Investment worthy? Yes! Great alternative to a bulky shopper tote for fall? Yes yes yes!

I found a few fabulous leather backpacks around the web and assembled them into the shopping widget below. I hope you love them! Happy shopping, and stay fabulous
