One of my favorite things to wear on cold fall, or winter days, is faux fur. It is soft, cozy, and adds a little bit of spice to an otherwise bundled up ensemble. I originally purchased this vest during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. It went back up to regular price, and now it is on an even bigger discount than during the first sale! If you are looking for a fun, faux fur vest, this one is fabulous; and it is 40% off! Love that!

A faux fur vest is a great item to own for the fall season. It keeps you cozy without being too warm; like a coat, jacket, or sweater. It is also a great way to elevate a casual outfit. I love the black and white fibers on this faux fur vest. It adds dimension to the overall look of the vest.

This faux fur vest not only elevates casual looks, it can be dressed up too! Picture it with an all-black outfit based by a pencil skirt, or black slim-fit trousers. It will be the centerpiece or the outfit. Love!

I’m looking forward to wear this faux fur vest more often when the weather gets cooler. So far, I have only been able to wear it while the fog is still in; as soon as it recedes back over the Santa Cruz Mountains, I have to change. Here’s to looking forward to cooler, autumn temperatures!

Plaid and lace New York Fashion Week street style

Day three of New York Fashion Week was the hottest, and most humid fashion week day I have ever experienced. Words cannot even describe the heat, and the icky humidity! Thankfully this dress was cool and breezy; perfect for a yucky humid day!

I started the day off in my suede booties, but the sky became a bit foreboding with the threat of thunder showers, so in order to save my suede booties, I switched to this pair of pewter leather booties which can sustain some rain. I heard it rained, but I must have been indoors when it did, because I never got caught in it! Whew!

Day three was really fun. I kicked off the day at Dan Liu, which was a romantic collection reminiscent of Paris in the 1960’s. I loved all the vintage inspired, feminine dresses. Next, I was off to Vicky Zhang which was filled with Mother-Daughter apparel. So cute! Then it was time for Rebecca Minkoff. You can read all about it in my blog post here.

After Rebecca Minkoff, it was time for Son Jung Wan’s disco inspired runway show. So much fun! The music was disco, and the people sitting behind me got out of their seats to dance to the music. It was amazing! Then I had a little break to eat some lunch, and edit a few photos before seeing A Detacher’s spring 2017 show, followed by Sally Skoufus’ fine jewelry presentation. It was a full day, and I loved everything I saw. So many great styles coming up for spring 2017!

By day three, the spring 2017 trends were starting to come into focus. There was more blush, denim, jumpers, green, pink, metallics, moto jackets, 1960s influence, 1990s influence, and decadent embellishments. Stay tuned! I will be recapping all the trends from the spring 2017 runways in a separate post. Spring 2017 is going to be fabulous!

Day two of New York Fashion Week was a lot calmer than day one! I attended four shows, Issosy London (children’s clothing), Francesca Liberatore, Katie Gallagher, and Demoo Parkchoonmoo. My friend Dawn (who took these fabulous photos), and I had a chance to actually eat three meals, and walk around a little bit. Eating meals-what a luxury!

These black fringe booties have turned out to be so comfortable! They are made from a soft suede which helps add to the comfort level. I love the fringe on the side, it is both sassy and on trend. Love that! I cannot wait to wear these booties non-stop until the rainy season starts. And yes, I am very optimistic that God will give us rain in the Bay Area this year. It is time for that pesky drought to stop! But I digress. . .

After two days of shows, some spring 2017 trends are starting to pop up! Many designers seem to be favoring black and white combinations, metallic hues, green, pink, red, and soft autumnal hues. One color trend which is surprising me, is the continuation of blush! It seems like blush pink has been around for many seasons. I thought by now designers would tire of the ultra-feminine hue in favor of other shades from the color wheel, but it seems to still be going strong. Hang on to your blush pieces from 2016 ladies, it will still be hot in 2017!

In addition to color trends, designers seem to be favoring small floral prints, pattern mixing, texture, vertical stripes, decadent embellishments, twisted and tied fabrics; and a 1960s influence seems to be emerging. It will be interesting to see if these trends continue throughout fashion week, and if store buyers pick them up!

Stay tuned! Early next week I will give a full trend report straight from New York. I have hundreds of photos from the runways to sort through, and decipher. I can’t wait to identify some new trends for spring 2017 and share them with you!
