Spring dresses and a formal tea

affordable spring dresses spring handbagsteen formal tea attire

wearing: On me: blue handkerchief wrap dress / black high heels / ivory and gold door knocker earrings / bracelets (old, similar here) / spring nail polish / gold ankle bracelet / blue handbag / On my daughters: pink dress (on sale!) / sneakers were worn for the walk to the car, pink dress paired with these flats / blue vintage inspired dress /

How cute are my daughters!! We snapped these photos on our walk back to the car after our annual NCL tea. Isn’t it funny how I always look for a wall? haha, Anyhoo. . .There had been a farmer’s market going on when we arrived, so I ended up parking several blocks away from the tea venue. My daughter was smart, and brought a pair of sneakers for the walk to the car! I think she’s ready to be a commuter!

In case you are wondering what NCL is, it is the National Charity League. It is a Mother/Daughter volunteer organization which also provides leadership skills, leadership opportunities, and it solidifies character building, and etiquette taught at home. It’s a great organization for helping craft your daughter into a powerful lady, as well as give us Mom’s a chance to spend valuable time with our tween/teen daughters. The annual tea is part of the etiquette lessons we teach our daughters. It is also a fun event to share with our daughters!

The theme this year was “An Afternoon in Wonderland” and it was a beautiful, whimsical theme! The centerpieces were adorable and played off the theme perfectly. The tea committee did such a fabulous job! My daughter’s love the annual tea, as it is one of the rare times each year they get to dress up! My teen picked out this pretty pink dress and my tween chose a vintage inspired blue number. I think they both looked like princesses! I love how they put their outfits together all by themselves. It’s so cute!

While my dress isn’t as fabulous against this pastel wall as my daughters dresses, it was very comfortable and worked well for the tea. I wore it in the morning with flats for my teen’s orchestra concert, then I switched to heels in the afternoon for the tea. It’s a very versatile dress! I am looking forward to pairing it with sandals and a bamboo bag this summer on more casual occasions. It’s a great spring/summer dress!

So, I want to circle back and talk about this all for a minute. Isn’t is beautiful? We found it in downtown Campbell. It’s really pretty and eye-catching in person. I’m so glad someone painted it for everyone to admire!

What is your favorite way to wear a dress on warm days? Do you prefer flats, sandals, or pumps?

Twirling in tie dye

wearing: ivory and gold door knocker earrings / lipstick / black tee / spring nail polish / tie dye skirt / Fendi logo ring / train case (back in stock!) / ankle bracelet / black block heel pumps /

OK, so I discovered tie dye blurs when you try to snap pictures of your skirt while in motion, with a point and shoot. As blurry as my skirt appears in some of these photos, it does add a dreamy aspect to the tie dye fabric, don’t you think? After all, tie-dye is from an era when people dreamed of an Utopian society filled with peace, love and happiness. Isn’t that dreamy?

I really wanted this skirt to stand-out, so I paired it with a simple black tee, and black pumps. Since there was also some brown blended in with black, grey, and other neutrals, I pulled the brown out with my fun little train case. This was a great outfit to wear to church last Sunday, which is when we snapped these photos. This outfit will also be ideal for professional meeting this summer, and anytime I want to wear a skirt! Love it!

Tie dye is such a fun trend. It was all over the spring 2019 runways, and it is proving to be a trend that the streets love. People are wearing tie dye everywhere I look! I love the nostalgia of this trend, as well as the artistic value it adds to peoples’ wardrobes. It is very rare to spot the same tie dye twice! Love that!

This tie dye skirt will also look cute with street sneakers and tee on casual days. I always love finding casual ways to wear skirts and dresses in the warmer weather. They are such nice alternatives to shorts!

Fluted bottom dress and a new wall

lightweight summer dress fluted bottom dressit bags summer 2019modest dressessan jose fashion bloggers over 40

wearing: ivory and gold door knocker earrings / lipstick / navy fluted bottom dress (under $100) / Fendi logo ring / blue handbag /  spring nail polish / golden ankle bracelet / snakeskin shoes (they come in colors that actually match the dress) /

OK, before you slam your laptop shut and ask “why did she pair those shoes with that bag and that dress,” let me tell you, I am scratching my head too! haha Soooooooo, when I left the house in the morning it seemed like it all went together. Then, when I looked at the photos on my camera as we were snapping them, I realized, as fabulous as these shoes are, this is not the outfit for them. Oooops, I did a fashion faux-pas! Will you forgive me? It happens to everyone, once in awhile, right???

So, I love everything I am wearing, but those shoes should be with a different outfit, let’s just be real here.  If I close my eyes, and picture the shoes in black, pink, or blue, (they are available in all of those colors BTW), then the outfit is seamless and perfect. So just play along with me and my imagination game 😉

So now, let’s get back to the important stuff! This dress might seem heavy on a hot summer day, but it is quite lightweight! This fluted bottom dress is made from lightweight cotton, and was very comfortable on the 90-degree day I met my friend Dawn from Fashion Should Be Fun for lunch, laughter, and the obligatory outfit photos for the blog.

I met Dawn in front of Cocola at Santana Row, and we decided to try and discover a new wall in the area for our photos. We weren’t trying to find a wall to match our outfits, like we should have been doing, we just wanted something new and fresh. haha We walked all the way to the end of the Row and found a construction project which was almost complete. They had this temporary wall up, so we decided it was perfect! We both snapped our photos in front of it. Her black outfit might have been a better look for the wall then my look, but I didn’t care, I love this wall!

After we snapped our outfits, we walked over to our favorite stand-by restaurant on Santana Row, The Village Bistro Cafe. Since it was 90-degrees outside, we both opted for fancy salads and ice tea. We chatted up a storm, and had a blast! I wish we could meet up everyday!

These shoes were really comfortable for walking around, I really should pick up another pair in one of the other colors they come in. Hey, then they would match the dress! haha This dress was perfect in the heat too. I am looking forward to wearing it more often this warm weather season. The model online paired it with street sneakers, that is another option that I think looks really cool; and very comfortable! haha

Have you ever mis-matched your shoes to your outfit and wondered what to do? Did you just deal with it for the day, and change your shoes at home like I did? Or, did you buy a new pair while you were out to fix the fashion faux-pas? (Thought crossed my mind lol)
