Where does the time go? It seems like I was just writing about the fall/winter 2017/18 collections from New York Fashion Week last February; and here we are, looking at spring/summer 2018!

My schedule this season is a little bit crazy; so I am unable to attend the full week of shows at fashion week. Instead, I am flying out a day late, and leaving a little bit early; but don’t despair, I will be squeezing in as many shows as humanly possible in order to bring you the hottest trends from New York for spring 2018! Yay!

My fashion week coverage will start Friday, so watch my social media channels to see what is happening on the runways in New York. It should be interesting to see what spring 2018 will bring to the world of fashion.

Hopefully we will see more ruffles, metallics, bright colors, asymmetrical lines, and fun prints. If resort 2018 has anything to say about spring 2018, there will be stripes, bright colors and prints, shades of red and pink, western/cowboy inspiration, off-the-shoulder tops and dresses, as well as an explosion of athleisure looks. Let’s see if the old adage of resort being a glimpse into spring holds true!

I have packed outfits for fashion week which are both fashion-forward, and comfortable. If you have read my previous fashion week posts, you might remember my constant complaints of tired feet, walking, and standing. I found last September that wearing booties with socks is far more comfortable then killing my feet in cute high heels. This NYFW I will be repeating this trick by wearing booties with socks. You can take a peek at what I packed below:

My fashion week beauty routine is simple and quick. I don’t bother with masks or deep cleaning while I am on the road. I use a one step cleanser on my skin and simple makeup. I will be using both Chanel and Estee Lauder lipsticks for color, my favorite Laura Mercier Caviar eye stick, Chanel blush, Laura Mercier foundation powder, and this fabulous foundation by Estee Lauder. If you are looking for a long-wear foundation which won’t clog pores, dry out skin, or do anything annoying to your face, haha, this is the perfect foundation! I just started using it and I am in love! Check out what’s in my NYFW beauty bag below:

Thank you for stopping by, and stay tuned! I will be seeing a lot of shows, so I cannot wait to bring you my favorite looks from the runways; and at the end of fashion week, I will recap the hottest trends for you!

Which trends are you hoping to see this spring 2018 season? Any trends you hope will disappear and not come back for spring?

XOXO

Cathy

On day three of New York Fashion Week, I went for a NY street style look. So many NYFW attendees wear denim; it is fun to see how they make it fabulous! I decided it was my turn to wear denim, and amp up my casual style into something street style worthy. I could not have done it without these fabulous denim pieces from New York denim brand Bridge & Boro.

Bridge & Boro makes the most fabulous denim pieces! They have limited edition pieces made from scarce denim fabric, as well as standard pieces in their collection with a timeless quality. The company is family owned and run; and the collection is made in New York!

It is extremely difficult to fit my body into jeans. I have always had a waist size much smaller than my hips and thighs. This is a problem many women have; let’s face it, we are hourglass for a reason! The majority of denim companies out there make their jeans for men, and then size them down for women without re-working them to actually fit a woman’s body. Bridge & Boro just fits. The jeans are made for women. The result is a flattering fit which will look amazing on most women. Love that!

In addition to a women’s denim collection, Bridge & Boro offers denim for men; which is just as fabulous as the women’s collection. Love! I definitely need to get a pair for my hubby!

Denim on denim is a huge trend this year. Although it has been going strong for the past couple of years, denim is bigger than life for spring 2017. Designers are showing it on everything from clothing to accessories. This is the perfect season to rock the denim on denim trend; and invest in some fabulous denim pieces!  For your perfect denim this spring, check out Bridge & Boro at bridgenboro.com.

It was fun wearing this outfit on day three of fashion week. I was snapped by several street style photographers outside the show. Here is a fun photo by fabulous street style photographer Denton Taylor:

Denton Taylor snapped this picture outside The Skylight Clarkson when I was on my way to my first show of the day; Asia Fashion Collection by Vantan. In addition to Asia Fashion Collection, on day three I went to Taoray Wang, Romeo Hunte, Yuna Yang, CG by Chris Gelinas, A Detacher, Georgine, and Francesca Liberatore. In addition to shows, I attended a fun blogger brunch hosted by Twiirly and Amour Vert. You can read about it here.

I am looking forward to wearing this denim on denim look by Bridge & Boro often this upcoming spring season; minus the jacket and scarf. It will look cute with slides, or high heel sandals. The pieces will also look fabulous worn with other items from my closet. They are so versatile and fabulous! Love!

Rain storm at fashion week

Wearing: hat (old, also love this one) / Chanel spring lipstick / ivory fringe earrings / Alexander McQueen scarf (the street style photogs loved this!)  / cozy black faux shearling jacket (on major sale!) / black tee / Gucci belt (current obsession) / destroyed boyfriend jeans (sold out, also love this pair) / Givenchy handbag / Chanel spring nail polish / black socks / silver street sneakers (under $150!!)

The forth day of New York Fashion Week, there was a crazy rain storm. I had planned to wear this beautiful floral maxi skirt with this jacket pictured above, and a black turtleneck. Alas, there was so much salt on the ground from the recent snow storm, and the puddles were so brown with dirt, I was too chicken to wear my beautiful new skirt in those conditions. I decided I would wear clothing which was machine washable, comfortable, and OK to get wet or dirty.

Surprisingly, many people wear casual clothing at fashion week. Not everyone is wearing the latest, greatest outfit. Not everyone is peacocking for the photographers, and not everyone is trying to be a runway show themselves. Therefore, when I wore this outfit, I blended into the crowd and even had my scarf snapped by photographers. Throughout the week the street style photogs were snapping pictures of my scarf. I didn’t see the photos appear anywhere, but hey, it’s fun anyway; especially since I love this scarf and have been wearing it non-stop since I purchased it in early fall 2016. Love that!

The temperatures were actually not cold on the fourth day of fashion week. They hovered in the 40’s, and the heat was cranked up inside the show venue, so wearing a short sleeve tee under my jacket was key for my overall comfort. This outfit turned out to be extremely practical for the conditions of the day, and it is also a fabulous casual look for transitioning from winter into spring as temperatures warm up. Love!

This was not a planned outfit, it was a bunch of pieces from my suitcase thrown together. Thankfully, it worked out! Since the rain was so strong, and the lighting was horrible, Kali’s hubby from In-Spades.com snapped these photos in the patio of our hotel. He did a great job compensating for the horrible lighting! I think the photos capture the essence of the weather that day.

Day four was another jam-packed day! My schedule included Marcel Ostertag, Elizabeth Kennedy, Verdad, Custo Barcelona, Leanne Marshall, Vivienne Hu, and Namilia. Normally Sunday at fashion week is on the calm side; a time to rest a little and see fewer shows than on other days-but not this season! Whew! These were great collections, I am so glad it was not a quiet day!

Thank you for stopping by, and I hope you are loving fall 2017 from New York Fashion Week!
