This lace trench coat! I originally purchased this lace trench coat for spring at the end of January to wear in New York for fashion week. It has since become the perfect trench coat to wear this spring season!

We took these photos while it was lightly raining outside, you may spot water drops on the camera lens, and this lace trench coat was the perfect weight. The lace is over a  lightweight black liner which adds just the right amount of warmth on a mild, unsettled spring day.

The temperatures this month have been hovering in the 50’s and 60’s. This lace trench coat has been the perfect topper to tee shirts, and this long sleeve blouse, during mild weather. Although I would not wear a lace trench coat during heavy rain, it performs fine during light rain, or fog mist. I love it!

I have worn my lace trench coat over skirts, a black dress, and my favorite casual spring outfit; flares and a top! I love how it spices up a pair of basic flare jeans, and a pink blouse. The lace trench coat really makes the outfit; otherwise, it’s just jeans and blouse.

Lace has never been a fabric I have been drawn to. I always used to associate it with pajamas and lingerie; or as an accent on formal wear. When lace became a popular fabric for everything from shoes to coats to dresses a few years ago, I started to take note. This is the first season I have broken out of my comfort zone, and purchased a lace piece of clothing! I am so glad I did!

I am looking forward to wearing this lace trench coat more, and more, during the spring season; and on foggy summer days! What are your thoughts on wearing lace pieces casually this spring?

I have been skipping the lace trend over the past few seasons because I felt like it did not fit my personality. So, when I saw this shawl or “kimono” from BooHoo I knew it was the perfect way for me to dive head first into lace this season. There is something slightly edgy about the way the shawl is made. I love how it spices up a classic yet bright pencil skirt turning it into a dinner ensemble. I also love how it works with casual jeans or thrown over a dress. I can definitely see myself wearing this shawl for a variety of occasions this season!

What have been your thoughts on the lace trend over the past few seasons? Have you been wearing it, or have you been like me, avoiding it?

Lace dresses for summer 2013

Lace has been a huge trend over the past few years, and for summer 2013 lace dresses have exploded with popularity. These sweet yet seductive styles are being shown mainly in A-line and sheath style dresses which hit at the knee or just above the knee.

The lace dress is turning out to be “the little black dress” of the season. Lace dresses are perfect for cocktail parties, dinner parties, going to the theater and other evening activities. In addition to being an evening staple this season, the lace dress is also perfect for wearing to a luncheon or afternoon wedding!

When it comes to colors, darker hues work perfectly at night while soft beige and white shades look crisp and refreshing during the day. Although, a white lace dress at night can be the ultimate statement for the summer 2013 season!

Lace dresses are being shown in all of the colors of the season ranging from sweet pastel hues to neon shades. Neutral colors including beige, white, black and coffee are also staples for the summer season. If you live in a warm climate, a lace dress in coffee or black can easily take you through the fall season; all you need to do is switch up your accessories! Love that!

On the runways, designers created color blocked lace dress and also used lace as an overlay with other fabrications. They also used lace as an accent fabric on dresses. Although solid colored lace dress are what has been spotted the most on the street, the runway trends are still available as an alternative to a solid lace dress. That being said, if a full lace dress is a little too much for you, look for lace trim or a lace overlay if you still want to rock this trend for summer 2013.

Since lace dresses are so fabulous, I found a few amazing pieces around the web and assembled them into the shopping widget below.
