On Saturday March 29, 2014, my husband I attended the Junior League of San Jose Fashion Show Fundraiser. This amazing charity event is close to my heart since I have worked on five past fashion show fundraisers while I was an active member of the Junior League. Now that I am a Sustainer in the league, it is fun to attend the event, donate, and enjoy the creativity of the current active members who worked hard on the event.

The fashion show fundraiser is held every other year and event chairs have been known to work over forty hours per week leading up to the event. I remember putting in long hours when I worked on the fundraiser, although not nearly as many hours as the event chairs! This years’ event had a Vegas theme and after the fashion show there were mock gambling tables and a delicious dessert buffet!

Everyone was decked out for the gala fundraiser in beautiful formal and cocktail gowns. There was a large amount of navy blue and sequin dresses in attendance! I wore navy too, so perhaps navy is the new black! 😉 Also, I am currently in a “one shoulder” phase, so I knew I wanted to wear this dress by Laundry to the event as soon as I spotted it!

My apologies for the iPhone photos. They are not as clear as the dslr photos I normally post. I wanted to share this fun event with you, and of course what I wore to it, so, I decided to post the iPhone photos. I hope you don’t mind 🙂

The holiday season is here! This means holiday parties and events. Which leads us to . . . dressing up in sparkling ensembles for holiday parties and events! YES!

Nothing is more fun than getting decked out for a holiday party this 2013 season. I love the sparkling holiday clothing and accessories which can be found every festive season. I was thrilled to find this beautiful blue and purple sequin top for the holiday season. I know I will be wearing it to several events during the holiday 2013 season. It may even work for New Years 2014! Hmmm. . . outfit to ponder. . .

What are you wearing for holiday parties and holiday events this season?

Retro inspired black and gold

I absolutely adore black and gold together. Not only is this combination classic, it is currently on-trend for summer 2013 and moving into fall 2013. When I saw this top from ASOS, I fell in love with it. The print and cut offered retro flair; and the fact that it is also a jacket (there is a zipper in the back) made it even more fun.

I decided to wear the top over a dress as a cover-up for an evening out recently. I love how it looked over this asymmetrical dress from Ann Taylor I purchased last fall. This top will also work well with black skirts and pants. Can’t wait to mix it up!
