Lace for the winter 2013 season

Lace has been one of the hottest fabrications in fashion over the past several seasons and it is showing no sign of slowing down for winter 2013; and spring 2013 for that matter! The flirty and feminine fabrication has been showing up this season on everything imaginable from garments to shoes to handbags and even on jewelry!

The lace trend was spotted on almost every runway for the fall/winter 2012/2013 season and it was also spotted on the spring/summer 2013 runways. This is one trend which has made an easy transition from the runway to the street. In fact, lace has proven to be more popular on the street than it appeared on the runway!

Lace is being used both as the main fabric of a garment as well as an accent or detail on both garments and accessories. Lace dresses have proven to be the hottest garment style in lace while lace shoes are the hottest form of accessory to don the flirty fabrication.

Designers are showing lace in shades of black, red, peach, pale pink, gold, silver and cream for the winter 2013 season and many designer have chosen to place a tonal or contrasting fabric underneath as a liner; after all, lace can be quite see-through! Oh my!

If a lace dress is too racy for you to wear, but you love the trend and want to rock it this season, look for lace shoes or a lace trimmed jacket; or even a bracelet! This is an understated way to wear lace and add a little bit of flirty spice to your ensemble. Love that!

We found a few fabulous lace pieces around the web and assembled them into this article. Hope you love them! Happy shopping and stay fabulous

Hostess party outfits for the Holiday 2012 season

The holidays are coming! Are you hosting a fabulous soiree at your humble abode? If so, the last thing you may be thinking about is what you are going to wear! Hosting a party is hard work and while you want to sparkle and shine as much as your guests, you may also be thinking about being on your feet, rushing around the house, darting into the kitchen; well, you catch my drift. You will be working and partying at the same time.

Just because you are on the clock at your own soiree, does not mean you have to settle for black pants and a tunic paired with slippers. There are plenty of sparkling and fabulous ensembles out there which will make you the “hostess with mostess” while making you shine. Love that!

The one big thing to remember when shopping for a hostess outfit, is that there is a good chance you will need to bend over during the course of the party. Someone may drop something, you may need to clean a spill, you may need to adjust an area rug; the reasons for bending over are endless. That being said, look for necklines which cover enough décolleté so that you do not flash all of your guests. The same is true for the hemline. If the dress is too short, make sure you have boy shorts underneath. No-one wants to see your underpants-as fabulous as they may be

Since you will be on your feet, and working the room, look for fabrics which are lightweight. Steer clear of heavy knits, jackets, blazers and wool. Look for sleeves which are easy to move in and do not constrict

Long skirts and dresses are also an option as long as they do not have too much fabric. It would be a huge “party fowl” if you tripped over your skirt!

We found a few fabulous options online and assembled them into this article. What do you think? Happy shopping, happy holidays and stay fabulous

Party dresses for the holiday 2012 season

The holidays are fast approaching and the festive party season is beginning to fill up everyone’s calendars. Party invitations are arriving in the mail and tickets to shows are being bought. The one thing missing? A fabulous party dress to take you through the season!

There are so many fabulous dresses on the market for the holiday 2012 season. Designers are in love with shades of red, navy and green as well as sparkling gold and silver. Sequins and shiny fabrications are hot for the holiday season making the basic, little black dress hanging the closet looking like it should hang out in there for another year. Sorry LBD!

Party dresses for the holiday season are body conscious and on the short side. Dresses are featured in styles such as one shoulder styles, tank styles and split sleeve silhouettes with straight or form fitting bodies. The peplum trend from 2011 is still around and many holiday dresses will feature this feminine, flattering style. Most dresses are hitting above the knee to mid-thigh and being shown with glittering heels and sparkling clutches.

The one thing to remember this season when shopping for a holiday dress is to look for a vibrant, jewel tone color and/or sparkling sequin. Happy shopping, happy holidays and stay fabulous
