One of the hardest things to shop for is jeans! At 5’4″ tall, I find the majority of jeans on the market way too long for me. I often have to spend extra money tailoring my jeans in order to fit my short legs. One huge problem I encounter is when I have to shorten bootcut, flare, or bell bottom jeans. When I have boot cut, flare, or bell bottom jeans shortened, I lose half the flare of the jean, thus ruining the silhouette of the pant. Can I tell you how annoying and frustrating this can be???

Due to this problem, I often find myself going straight to the Gap and purchasing their jeans in the “short” or “ankle” length. Since the Gap has great prices, this is not really a bag thing. I have to admit, I do get bored of always buying the same brand of jeans! So, I decided to try on a few pairs of petite jeans to see how they would fit.

I am not really sure why I haven’t tried petite jeans before. I already wear petite pants, so why have I not tried jeans?! Why did it take me so long to have this revelation?! Ah, the universe will never know. 😉

I was thrilled when I tried Citizens of Humanity flare jeans in a petite size. They fit perfectly! I have found denim heaven. Not only do these jeans fit perfectly, I do not have to shorten them, and they are soft and comfortable. Love that!

Petite jeans are now going to be my new guilty pleasure. I feel like a kid in a candy store trying on jeans that fit me! Yay! Since I love these petite jeans by Citizens of Humanity so much, I plan to get a few more pairs for the fall season.

What is your favorite line of denim?

Shorts for summer 2015

shorts for summer 2015

From top left: navy shorts (on sale!) / handbag / white and chambray striped shorts / dark grey board shorts

The hot, summer weather is here; this means it is time for shorts! There are several styles of shorts which are on trend for the summer 2015 season. This means we will not have to sacrifice style for comfort this summer. Love that!

The runways brought us the boho-trend, and the Bermuda shorts trend. Shorts for summer 2015 reflect both of these runway trends. There are also a few shorts trends for summer 2015 which did not grace the runways in New York, Paris, Milan, and London; they originate from the streets, and from the beaches. Without further adieu, here are the ultimate trends in short for summer 2015:

Boho-chic: Boho-chic shorts are all the rage for summer 2015. We are seeing boho style prints, loose fabrics, and relaxed silhouettes on boho-chic shorts. Boho-chic shorts tend to hit mid-thigh or slightly above.

Bermuda shorts: This 80’s trend was all over the runways for spring/summer 2015. Bermuda shorts for summer 2015 tend to be shown in solid colors or denim. Look for styles which are slim fitting, and hit right at the top of the knee cap.

Board shorts: Board shorts are a huge street style trend. Originally popularized by surfers on the beaches of California, Florida, and Hawaii, board shorts are mainstream for summer 2015. Look for dark, solid colors, and drawstring waists. Also look for board shorts to hit between mid-thigh, and the top of the knee.

Bow-tie shorts: Shorts with bow-tie’s at the waist are a huge trend this summer 2015 season. Look for styles which hit mid-thigh, or slightly above. The silhouette is loose without flowing. This feminine style looks amazing with wedges or tie-up sandals.

Denim cut-offs: Cut-offs, which was a huge trend in the 90’s, 80’s, and 70’s, are back with a vengeance. Look for styles which are very distressed, and hit about mid-thigh or slightly above. Cut-offs look best with vintage tee’s, tank tops, flip flops, and loose fitting tops. This is a trend you can DIY. Have an old pair of jeans you don’t wear anymore? Why not cut them off! You’ll recycle an old article of clothing, and save money at the same time. Love that!

There you have it! The hottest trends in shorts from both the runways, and the streets; and shall we also say beaches?! There is a style of shorts for everyone this summer 2015 season. Which style is your favorite?

Flare jeans and platforms

I am in love with the 1970’s trend of the moment. Everything about the trend, from boho-chic to flare jeans to uber-casual handbags; the trend just fits my personal style. Love that!

Although platforms were in style several years ago, and then out of style the past two years; I am thrilled they are back in style for fall 2015. Standing at 5’4″, I love any type of shoe which offers both height, and comfort. There is something about platforms which I find to be more comfortable than classic flat soled shoes. The platform offers a softer base for the ball of the foot than a thin soled shoe offers when standing on hard ground, or the street. I find platforms are easier to stand in for long periods of time than flat soled shoes for that very reason. This makes them perfect for parties; or any occasion where one has to stand! Of course, walking in platforms can be challenging.

I have found Prada makes the ideal platform. Their platforms are always walkable, comfortable, soft, and on-trend. The Prada plarforms I am wearing in the pictures above are from Prada’s fall 2009 runway. They are still in great condition despite being worn to death by me over the years. I feel like they are worth every penny, and if I purchase another pair of platforms this season, I will seriously look at Prada’s collection. Feet are our base, they should be kept happy  😉

I am looking forward to wearing my platforms again this season! Which trends from the 1970’s look for fall 2015 are you excited about?
