New York Fashion Week SS17 air travel outfit

casual airplane outfit idea

What I wore on the airplane to New York: sunglasses / lipstick / bold earrings / classic gold necklace / comfortable blue tee shirt / funky lapis ring / nail polish /  button fly 90s style charcoal skinny jeans / pewter booties / top handle satchelpurple roller suitcases (on sale!)

I am in New York for fashion week! That’s right! Despite the fact that we are still enjoying summer 2016, designers are sending their spring/summer 2017 designs down the runways in New York starting today.

This week I am attending New York Fashion Week spring 2017 in order to share with you what emerging designers, boutique designers, avante-garde designers, mainstream brands, and iconic designers are showing for the next warm weather season. I will be attending approximately twenty-five shows this week in order to spot the trends you need to know about for spring 2017, right now before fall even starts! Don’t ‘cha love that!

Fall 2016 was all about 1970s inspiration, and splashes of vintage inspiration from the 1960s and 1990s. What will spring 2017 bring? It seems as though the boho-chic, 1970s styles have been on the runways now for several seasons. Will spring continue this trend, or has it run it’s course, moving designers into a more structured world?

The past few seasons have been all about embellishments, patterns, and bold mixes. Will designers continue this train of thought, or will they move more into a minimalist realm?

These questions and more will be answered this week as designers show us what we will be coveting for the spring 2017 season! Be sure to follow me on Instagram, Twitter, and/or Facebook in order to see what is on the spring 2017 runways in New York at fashion week!

XOXO

Top 10 handbag trends for fall 2016

top ten handbag trends for fall 2016

My five favorite handbags from the top 10 handbag trends for fall 2016 from top left: box bag / snakeskin black shoulder bag / mini bag / saddle bag / circle bag

The fall 2016 fashion season is upon us. Stores are starting to stock their shelves with the very best from the fall  2016 runways, and this means it is time to think about the top 10 handbag trends for fall 2016.

The fall 2016 runways gave us many fashion trends to think about for the upcoming cool weather season. The 1970s are still in full swing, and neutrals are the new color palette. Pops of autumn hues such as burgundy, navy, dark mustard, and hunter green will add dimension to our charcoal, black, and white ensembles. Texture, embellishments, and flowing silhouettes will shape the way we put our outfits together. Best of all, our handbags will complete our looks; showing the world how fabulous we really are. Because let’s face it, you are never fully dressed without a handbag, and a bright smile!

There are some handbag trends for fall 2016 which are continuing from last season, and there are some which are emerging for now, and the fashion future. Whichever handbag trend catches your eye, you are sure to find at least one trend in fall handbags to suit your own personal style. So, without future adieu, here are the top ten handbag trends for fall 2016.

Graphic Dimension

Cross Body Satchels

Circle Bags

Fringe, Tassels, and Embellishments

Saddle Bags with a 1970s vibe

Mini Bags

Snakeskin

Box Bags (Train Cases) and Camera Bags

Logo Prints

Smartphone Mini Bags

The size of one’s handbag has always been up for debate every fashion season. For the fall 2016 season, we are starting to see a shift from small and mini bags, to acceptance of large bags. As slouchy handbags make a resurgence in the background, signalling a possible rise of the hobo bag in future seasons, medium and large handbags are starting to move into mini-bag territory. So if the mini bag has become a complete bore to you, and cross body satchels put you to sleep, think about investing in a Circle Bag, a Smartphone Mini Bag, a logo fabric bag with vintage appeal, or a soft and slouchy bag such as this one by Proenza Schouler.

There you have it! The top 10 handbag trends for fall 2016. Which handbag trend tickles your fancy? I am looking forward to the Circle Bag trend, the continuing Saddle Bag trend, and getting back into logo fabrics. Perhaps a Smartphone Mini Bag would be handy to have around too.

Happy handbag shopping, and stay fabulous 😉

Summer totes for summer 2016

best totes for summer 2016

Summer totes from top left: black tote (designer classic) / straw tote (under $70) / classic red tote (under $300) / straw tote (under $500 and packable) / red tote (timeless designer bag under $1000) / black tote (hot designer on major sale!) / tan tote (under $175) / navy straw tote (on trend & under $150)

Summer is here! This means we all need the perfect tote for the pool, the beach, and traveling to fabulous summer destinations! Since I am in the market for a cute summer tote, I decided to compile the most fabulous on trend, and timeless summer totes, in various price ranges, into this post.

Straw, shades of tan and brown, pom poms, embellishments, and shades of red, are all hot trends in handbags for summer 2016. I love having a classic summer tote on hand which can be worn with a casual outfit, or a dressier ensemble when a roomy tote is needed. (let’s face it, when you have kids sometimes the cute shoulder bag gets left behind and your tote is paired with a dressy outfit despite the unfashionable nature of the look)

I love the idea of an on trend, hot off the runway, embellished tote! The pom pom tote pictured above embodies all the hot handbag trends of the season, and it is super cute to boot! It will also be perfect for beach, and pool days. I am definitely leaning towards the navy straw tote as my summer 2016 tote.

The red totes are also calling my name. I would love a classic, red tote which can easily be worn during the summer months, as well as into the fall, and winter seasons. Red is an important color for the upcoming fall season; and it plays well with the 1970s inspired color palette for both summer, and fall. A red tote definitely has longevity with the current trends; plus it is a timeless bag that can be worn for years!

Which totes are your favorite for the summer 2016 season?
