Trends to hope for from the spring 2013 runways

New York Fashion Week kicks off today with a forum and the Style Awards. New York Fashion Week will be in full swing by Thursday; and designers will show off their new collections for spring 2013. While we have barely started wearing our fall 2012 wardrobe, and chances are we are not done shopping for fall, spring 2013 will soon be splashed in our faces and make fall seem oh-so-last-year; yawn!

Back in spring 2012 the runways were filled with bright colors, color blocking and lighthearted styles which reminded us that fashion is a fun form of wearable art. Forecasters have already predicted that bright colors and neon hues will be front and center for spring 2013. It has also been forecast by Pantone that blue will be the new black!

Although bright colors and neon hues have been predicted for spring 2013, even before designers show off their new collection on the runways, we cannot forget that in spring 2012 the designers in Paris were all about pastels. Sweet shades of lavender and mint were mixed in with bright colors as some of spring 2012’s most important colors. I feel like Paris will continue with pastels and the sweet, feminine color palette may even get sprinkled onto the runways in Milan, New York and London for spring 2013.

As for other trends such as color blocking, florals and metallics, it should be interesting to see if designers continue them or if they go in a new direction. With the proposed uptick in neon dye lots ordered by designers for their spring 2013 collection, we have to wonder if the 1980’s will make another comeback or if bright colors will take a futuristic turn.

I guess we will find out tomorrow what spring 2013 will bring! What trends do you think will hit the runways on Thursday? What trends would you like to see continue and which one do you hope are left behind in 2012? Please leave a comment below or join us on Facebook!

The metallic trend continues for fall 2012

Metallics are hot for fall 2012 and they have been hot for the past few years. Metallic fabrications, embellishments and touches have been of-the-moment for the past few years and are showing no sign of stopping as we head into the fall season.

Each season silver, pewter, yellow gold and rose gold have been popping up as important parts of the seasonal color spectrum. While each metallic hue takes center stage every season, all of them are relevant and on trend. For fall 2012, yellow gold is the hottest metallic color; but this does not mean the other shades should be put into storage-keep all metallics front and center in your closet!

As with previous seasons, metallics are a great way to spice up a neutral ensemble or add some fire to a colorful outfit. Metallics can be found everywhere on accessories, garments and fingertips! Metallics have also found a small place in eye make-up for the fall season; but beware-metallic eye make-up is appropriate for evenings only while nail polish is appropriate for all occasions and times of the day J

When wearing metallics this fall season, look for one metallic statement piece for each outfit; no head-to-toe metallics!

This is one trend which you may be able to find in your closet from a previous season. If not, there are many fabulous options on store shelves for metallics this fall 2012 season. What is your favorite way to wear metallics? Are you a gold, silver, pewter or rose gold girl? Happy shopping and stay fabulous

Colorful denim skinnies for the fall 2012 season

Colored skinny jeans were all the rage last spring and summer. Nothing has changed for the fall/winter 2012/2013 seasons. Colorful denim skinnies are still the hottest casual pant on the street for the cool weather season and this time around they are in autumn hues rather than summer brights and springtime pastels.

While printed denim, metallic jeans and other types of casual pants are on-trend for fall 2012, colored denim is the ultimate, number one way to be casual. Skinny jeans in autumn hues such as chocolate brown, burgundy, orange, dark green and classic black are on-trend for fall. In addition to classic fall colors, shades of jewel tones including bright red, purple, cobalt and emerald green are also hot for fall.

Colored denim pants are a great way to instantly update your casual fall wardrobe and they look more polished than regular blue jeans. This makes colored skinnies a great way to feel comfortable and casual yet avoid the sloppy, faded denim look on the weekends. Since colored skinnies are about as tailored as casual clothing can get, they can also be a great option for casual Friday’s at work; if your dress code allows denim.

We found a few fabulous hues for fall around the web and assembled them into the Polyvore set below. What is your favorite fall color for denim skinnies?
