Dome bags for fall 2012

The satchel is a classic and iconic handbag style; but for fall 2012 there is a particular type of satchel which has taken the runway, and the street, by storm. The dome bag is huge this fall season and has proven to be a favorite of Fashionista’s on the street. This curved corner style satchel offers the roominess of a tote and the structured, vintage appeal of a classic satchel with modern intrigue.

The dome satchel or “Dome Bag” was dominant on Burberry, Louis Vuitton, Yves Saint Laurent, Tory Burch and Alexander Wang’s runways. While many of these design houses carry dome bags as part of their classic collections, the style for fall 2012 has taken on additional seasonal colors and store buyers have filled the shelves with as many dome bags as they could get their hands on; oh yes, this is the current “classic” handbag.

Unlike regular satchels, totes and shoulder bags which are part of the fall 2012 collections, dome bags are being shown in smooth fabrications without a lot of texture or blocking. Dome bags have been released in classic shades such as black, grey, brown and ivory; but it is the seasonal colors which are hit this fall season.

The dome bag is hot this fall in shades of red, burgundy, navy, gold, orange, green and mustard. Most dome bags are medium to large in size and can easily be used in lieu of a briefcase or as a carry-on bag for traveling. Since dome bags are classic, this is a great season to invest in one which you can love for season’s to come. When shopping for a dome bag, look for colors which are long lasting such as navy, burgundy and red. Of course, you can never go wrong with shades of brown or classic black!

We found a few fabulous dome bags and assembled them into this article. Happy shopping and stay fabulous

Spring 2013 color report from Pantone has arrived

Pantone released the spring/summer 2013 color report today and it has given Fashionistas everywhere a sneak peek into the ten hottest hues for the upcoming spring 2013 season.

The fresh color palette is slightly softer than it was for spring 2012 and it appears that any shade of blue will be hot for 2013. After all, earlier this year Pantone declared that blue would be the new black for 2013; according to this chart, it will be!

Since Pantone’s predictions are based on New York designer preferences, it does appear that the soft pastels from Paris in 2012 have traveled to our side of the globe and mixed in with our bright hues from 2012. The softer colors are still cheery and bright; just not as neon as originally forecasted.

What do you think of the spring 2013 color palette? Do you have a favorite hue?

Trends to hope for from the spring 2013 runways

New York Fashion Week kicks off today with a forum and the Style Awards. New York Fashion Week will be in full swing by Thursday; and designers will show off their new collections for spring 2013. While we have barely started wearing our fall 2012 wardrobe, and chances are we are not done shopping for fall, spring 2013 will soon be splashed in our faces and make fall seem oh-so-last-year; yawn!

Back in spring 2012 the runways were filled with bright colors, color blocking and lighthearted styles which reminded us that fashion is a fun form of wearable art. Forecasters have already predicted that bright colors and neon hues will be front and center for spring 2013. It has also been forecast by Pantone that blue will be the new black!

Although bright colors and neon hues have been predicted for spring 2013, even before designers show off their new collection on the runways, we cannot forget that in spring 2012 the designers in Paris were all about pastels. Sweet shades of lavender and mint were mixed in with bright colors as some of spring 2012’s most important colors. I feel like Paris will continue with pastels and the sweet, feminine color palette may even get sprinkled onto the runways in Milan, New York and London for spring 2013.

As for other trends such as color blocking, florals and metallics, it should be interesting to see if designers continue them or if they go in a new direction. With the proposed uptick in neon dye lots ordered by designers for their spring 2013 collection, we have to wonder if the 1980’s will make another comeback or if bright colors will take a futuristic turn.

I guess we will find out tomorrow what spring 2013 will bring! What trends do you think will hit the runways on Thursday? What trends would you like to see continue and which one do you hope are left behind in 2012? Please leave a comment below or join us on Facebook!
