There is nothing like summer vacation! I can work any time of day, and my kids have schedules that are so light, I feel like I am in a dream! If you have kids, you know what it’s like to spend all your time taxiing your kids around town. With three kids, I feel like I am always going somewhere, and I am always juggling conflicting schedules! Summer vacation alleviates all of that. Love!
Since summer vacation also means my teacher friends aren’t at work, I get to spend time with my good friend Dawn. We spent an entire morning wandering around Valley Fair, picked up a dress for Dawn at Nordstrom, enjoyed too many dumpling at Din Tai Fung, and of course, snapped pictures of each other! haha It was a ton of fun!

Kimono’s are one of my favorite “outfit enhancers” during the spring and summer months. I love throwing one over a basic tee and jeans for a put together look. The base outfit is really one of my go-to looks, and it is super comfortable. I love how this kimono makes it look like I put some effort into the outfit; haha, I really didn’t! I feel like everyone needs at least one kimono in their closet, and it’s entirely possible I own three. . .mmmm. . .but I digress. . .
What is your favorite way to spice up a basic and comfortable look during the warmer months?
So have you ever accidentally dropped your glasses, or sunglasses, and watched them break into pieces? Well, that happened to me! Last week, my only pair of prescription sunglasses slipped out of my hand while I was putting them inside my purse, after entering Safeway. My bag was at about my waist, so my sunglasses dropped from my waist, to the floor. I was mortified when I saw what happened. My beautiful Chanel sunglasses, my ONLY pair of sunglasses with my current prescription in them, was in pieces on the floor of the supermarket. Words can’t even. . .
I am one of those unlucky folks who has “must wear corrective lenses” written in bold, red letters all the way across her driver’s license. I don’t have a choice, I need to wear glasses while I drive. When it is sunny outside, I need to wear prescription sunglasses, or the sun will blind me. With my only pair of prescription sunglasses in pieces on the floor at Safeway, I was in quite a pickle!
Since I wear glasses, I keep my old pairs of glasses and sunglasses in the back of the glove box of my car. They are there for emergencies only. This fateful day, was an emergency. I was forced to pull out my old pair of prescription sunglasses, which were worn so much, they were stretched out. This old pair drove me crazy the second I placed them on my head to drive home. They immediately slipped down my nose, forcing me to adjust them constantly while driving home. Wearing too-big-sunglasses with an old prescription is not an ideal situation. I needed to replace my sunglasses stat!
As soon as I got home, I immediately called my eye doctor. I always buy my glasses through him since he gives me an additional 20% off the portion of the price that my insurance does not pay for. I end up getting Chanel glasses or Prada glasses, my two favorite eye-wear brands, at a great deal. When the nurse told me the fastest they could get a new pair of sunglasses to me was in two weeks, I knew I had to look elsewhere.
Warby Parker sunglasses review
I had heard about Warby Parker through the blogging world. It’s an online prescription eye-wear store which has expedited processing. In four days, for a $30 fee, I could have a new pair of sunglasses, with my current prescription, on my head. My too-big, old pair, could get pushed back to the back of my glove compartment in my car. Let’s do this!
It was really easy to find a pair of sunglasses on Warby Parker’s website which were to my liking. I’m all about huge sunglasses that hide all my wrinkles. When I spotted “Nancy,” I knew it was my new pair of sunglasses! The Nancy is available in two colors, Cognac Tortoise, and Rose Crystal. I chose the Cognac Tortoise, and began the check out process.
Warby Parker makes it really easy to select your prescription eye-wear. First, I chose a frame, then I chose the types of prescription lenses I wanted in my new glasses. Then, I uploaded a copy of my prescription, and lastly, I took a photo of myself through Warby Parker’s website to measure my face. Since I needed the sunglasses quickly, I chose expedited shipping for $30, instead of the free ground shipping option. Voila! Now, all I had to do was wait for my shades!
Expedited shipping takes about four business days. It appeared to take Warby Parker three business days to make my sunglasses, and then they overnighted them to me. When I slipped them on, they were perfect! I could see clearly, and they were very comfortable. Now that my sunglasses were in my hands, and they fit nicely, I would be able to submit my receipt to my insurance for a reimbursement. It’s super easy!
I am feeling a little bit addicted to Warby Parker, now that I have my first pair. I did see a few other pairs on their website that might need to end up in my closet. After all, I need a better back-up pair! Wouldn’t you agree?
Warby Parker has both men’s and women’s glasses, and sunglasses. The styles range from classic, to on trend. There is definitely a style for every outfit, and taste. Which pair will I buy next? So many choices!!!
Also, I have to point out; I love brands that give back. Warby Parker believes that everyone has the right to see. For every pair of glasses purchased, a pair of glasses is distributed to someone in need. It’s their Buy a Pair, Give a Pair program, and it’s fabulous!
You can find Nancy online here. You can see all of the styles Warby Parker has to offer at WarbyParker.com.
Have you ever ordered prescription glasses online before? This was my first time, and I have to admit, I was a little nervous. I am so glad Warby Parker made it easy, and I ended up with a really cute pair of sunglasses.
We finally have sunshine here in the San Francisco Bay Area! Our spring weather was so crazy cold. It felt like late fall instead of late spring. Last week we had fog and 60 degree temperatures, this week we have 90 degree weather. It is quite a change!
Since sunshine is naturally cheerful, I felt like wearing a happy, yellow top to kick off summer vacation when I met my friend Dawn from Fashion Should Be Fun for lunch, and of course, blog photos! I felt like the cheery yellow hue represented summer sunshine.
We snapped a few photos on the streets of Campbell, and then enjoyed a leisurely lunch at Flights on Campbell Ave. If you are local, and haven’t eaten there yet, it is a must-do! They have a fun menu you can mix and match, and a hip atmosphere. You will love it!
Our lunch conversation consisted of our favorite brands to take on vacation with us this summer, and New York Fashion Week! It’s never too soon to start talking about fashion week. After all, it’s the biggest fashion gathering of the year; well, technically it happens twice a year, but who is being technical?? haha, I’m not!

I’m so excited summer vacation starts this week. Has summer vacation started for you too?
Thanks for stopping by!
