The past couple of weeks here in the San Francisco Bay Area have been beautiful. Temperatures have been in the high 60’s and low 70’s; which is extremely unusual for January. Unfortunately, with beautiful spring-like weather in January there is a dark side. The trees are confused so we are starting to see cherry blossoms, plum blossoms and Magnolias. In addition to confused vegetation, we have had absolutely no rain for months! The last time the San Francisco Bay Area endured this type of weather was 1977-1979. At that time we experienced a severe drought which required residents to ration their water use, in some cases, using extreme measures to do so.

I was a very small child in the late 1970’s and all I remember about the drought was eating off of paper plates and drinking from paper cups. There was a huge pipe on the Richmond- San Rafael bridge which carried water across the bay and I used to marvel at its’ huge size when we crossed the bridge. I remember a lot of dead lawns and an increase in popularity of the “rock garden.” Do you remember rock garden’s? They were a collection of different colors of rocks arranged in a pattern separated by thin wood panels in people’s front yards. They remained in place throughout the 1980’s until people finally realized they were terrible to look at and replaced them with plants.

Due to the current drought, I am afraid what we experienced in the late 1970’s will soon be reality again here in the Bay Area. In the meantime, the only thing we can do is conserve water and enjoy the sunshine! That being said, I have been boxing up my boots and heavy clothing, moving them to the back of the closet, and bringing out my spring wardrobe! Why not!? If there are cherry blossoms everywhere, I might as well dress for spring!

These new pumps from Chelsea Paris are soft and extremely comfortable. I cannot wait to pair them with other looks throughout the spring season. Are you experiencing unusual weather where you live too?

The perfect bracelet

Photos: Earrings: Kathy Kamei (also love this pair) / Lipstick: c/o Dolce & Gabbana Rose / Scarf: L’Wren Scott for BR / Shirt: Ace Delivery (past season) also love SAVE or SPLURGE) / Belt: C Wonder / Buckle: C Wonder / Jeans: L’Wren Scott for BR / Handbag: Coach / Bracelet: c/o Twisted Silver District Bracelet (use code INSIDERS for 15% off) / Nail Polish: Chanel Cosmic / Shoes: Valentino (similar here)

If you have been following me on Twitter, you may already know that I fell in love with the L’Wren Scott for BR collection which debuted earlier this month. I bought a few dressy pieces, occasion pieces and casual items from the collection. In the above photos you can see two of the casual items I purchased from the line. I love the colors and the fabric is soft and comfortable! Love that!

Also, as you know, the black metal trend is on an upswing. Not only have jewelers and accessories designers been using black metal in their pieces, we are seeing more and more buttons, snaps and other metal in black on apparel. I love the understated nature of black metal and how it works perfectly with the current movement towards the “anonymous” handbag and unrecognizable fashion. Fashionistas are moving towards high quality pieces which do not bear logos and do not scream which designer they are from. Black metal works well with this philosophy as it is understated and blends well with any color combination or metallic hardware.

The new “District” bracelet from Twisted Silver is perfect for rocking the black metal trend. The bracelet is a statement piece on its’ own yet offers an unrivaled, understated elegance which can easily be worn casually, as I am wearing it in the photos above, or worn with dressy dinner/evening attire. Love it!

The new “District” bracelet from Twisted Silver is priced at $40 and can be found online Twisted-Silver.com. Use coupon code INSIDERS for a 15% discount. Happy shopping, and stay fabulous 😉

Silver and black

The weather has warmed up a little bit here in the San Francisco Bay Area which has allowed me to dress lighter than last week and enjoy a few rays of sunshine. Over the weekend I felt like wearing silver and black when spending time with my family and enjoying holiday activities with the kids. The studded sweater I wore was warm and cozy without being too heavy, which was perfect for the sixty degree weather we enjoyed. I am very thankful I found this sweater on sale at the BCBG store at Santana Row in San Jose!

I am also in love with these silver jeans from the Gap. They are comfortable and I was able to buy them in ankle length. Since I am only 5’4″ the ankle length is perfect. When I purchase regular length jeans or pants I always have to hem them or roll them up. These jeans are an easy way to wear the metallic trend this season, and into spring 2014! I am looking forward to pairing them with other colors both casually and dressy.

Have you been wearing the metallic trend this season? If so, what is your favorite metallic hue?
