It has been such a cold fall season! As we head into winter here in the San Francisco Bay Area, the weather is getting chillier, and chillier! Due to this fact, I find myself reaching for my turtleneck sweater a few times per week!

A turtleneck sweater is such a great piece on its’ own, or layered under a coat. I love how it can be casual when paired with jeans, or look pulled together with an office appropriate skirt. A turtleneck sweater can also be spiced up with long necklaces, or a blanket scarf! Love that!

In the photos above, I paired my favorite turtleneck sweater with a warm, wool blend skirt from last year. I adore this skirt! I originally purchased it for fashion week in September 2014. It worked out well in my suitcase since it was easy to pair with different tops. I love how it is black in back, and grey in front!

In order to wear a skirt in the 40 degree weather we have been enduring lately, I have found my boots are a life saver. They keep my legs warm, and allow me to wear skirts for church or work meetings. If you have been following along, you have seen me write about how fabulous these boots are in past articles. They are extremely comfortable, I can walk for miles in them, and they are currently on sale! Fabulous!

Which pieces do you find yourself reaching for often in order to stay warm? Do you brave wearing skirts in cold weather, or do you stick with warm pants?

Little black dress

You can never go wrong with a little black dress. I love having a few little black dresses on hand for those occasions when I just do not know what to wear! They also come in handy when I want my outfit to be all about one or more of my accessories!

I wore this casual little black dress out to dinner with my family. It seemed warm outside when I put the dress on and took a few photos, but as soon as the sun went down, I kept my coat on! In the future, I will plan to wear this little black dress on warmer days, during the day, or on occasions when I will be inside. At dinner we sat outside on the patio because my daughter didn’t like the noise level inside the restaurant. Brrr!

Since I consider myself an accessories girl, I chose to wear this little black dress in order to accentuate both my Dualitas ring, and my favorite blue handbag! I love blue and green together, so highlighting both pieces at the same time just worked for my personal taste.

This Dualitas ring is really comfortable, and it looks amazing with casual denim outfits, through to cocktail attire. I love versatile jewelry, it is what I reach for the most in my jewelry box! If you are not familiar with Dualitas, the collection is designed right here in the San Francisco Bay Area; in Palo Alto! To read my Dualitas feature and learn more, please click here.

I would also like to give a shout out to these boots! I have been wearing my Tory Burch boots several times per week. The heel is high enough to look fabulous, yet just below that 4″ point which can be uncomfortable. As a result, these boots are VERY comfortable! I love wearing them with jeans, skirts, and dresses! They are currently on sale, so if you are looking for a pair of fabulous black boots with some stretch (or give) in the shaft (the part which covers your calf), then these boots are for you! They fit perfectly, keep my calves warm,  and I can walk for miles. Love that!

What makes you reach for a little black dress?

Easy spring dressing

I originally purchased this dress to wear in New York for fashion week. When it was time to pack, I realized this dress was way too thin for the freezing temperatures I would encounter back east. This led me to leave the dress hanging in my closet, and my suitcase to hold thicker garments.

Now that it is March, the weather here in the San Francisco Bay Area has been hovering in the 70’s, and even low 80’s! This means I can pull out all my favorite spring clothing; as well as this dress! The fabric is thin and cool; despite the long sleeves. This makes the dress ideal for meetings, church, or any gathering where you need to look polished. Love that!

I also love how the pattern breaks up the stripes, so they do not make me look wider. Always a good thing 😉 Do you have a favorite dress for spring which is fast becoming your go-to item? Please share in the comments below!
