Now that the weather has become a bit warmer, it is more difficult to wear flare jeans on a daily basis. I need to wear a heel, or a wedge, with flares, and sometimes I would prefer to wear footwear which is a bit more comfortable. Thankfully, baggy boyfriend jeans are a hot trend this season, so I have a great alternative to my flares for the warmer weather! Love that!

Baggy boyfriend jeans are perfect for casual days. They are comfortable, non-constricting, and easy to style. They can easily be dressed up with high wedges, heeled sandals, or funky pumps. They can also be worn casually with a low heel, flat sandals, or flats. Since I am short, I prefer to wear a low heel.

This particular pair of baggy boyfriend jeans has heavy distressing; this allows for natural ventilation at the knee, which is great when the fog burns off, and temperatures heat up. I don’t feel like I have to rush home to switch into shorts, the baggy boyfriend jeans stay cool. Love it!

Since these jeans are baggy, I like wearing a low heel. I am short and the lower heel elevates me more than a pair of flats. Also, wearing a small heel with baggy pants helps to keep my legs from looking frumpy; which easily happens with flats, and baggy jeans on me! Yikes!

My beautiful nine-year-old daughter took these photos, and I think she did a pretty good job! She is really creative, and enjoys learning photography, art, and fashion design. It is fun seeing her interests grow, and develop. Someday she will be an artistic force to be reckoned with! Love!

Girls Night Out outfit

Last weekend, I had a fun and fabulous Girl’s Night Out with my friend Rita. It had been a really busy week with my children’s activities, as well as my own, so an evening out was exactly what I needed. The busy week meant I did not have a chance to think about my Girls Night Out outfit! The horror!

I didn’t have a chance to hit the gym that week, so I was feeling a little larger than usual. I decided I needed to wear something which made me feel thin; and since I was tired from the week, I also wanted to feel comfortable. This meant I needed to reach for my current go-to Girls Night Out outfit.

An all-black, casual outfit is always perfect for heading out with the girls. I love how comfortable these jeans are, and this top is turning out to be my favorite black top of the season. It looks great during the day, and at night! I also love how it look with cut-offs; this top will get a lot of wear this summer too! Love that!

Rita and I met at a chic restaurant in Los Gatos named “Verge.” The food was fabulous, the atmosphere was chic, and everyone who worked there was extremely friendly and nice. It was a great dining experience all around. I highly recommend Verge for a Girls Night Out, or a dinner out with your significant other. I cannot wait to go back for dinner again! Yum!

After dinner, we enjoyed walking through downtown Los Gatos, and chatting it up! It was the perfect Girls Night Out after a super busy week. This Girls Night Out outfit turned out to be ideal for the evening. It was comfortable, simple, and my shoes were easy to walk in. Love that!

What is your favorite go-to Girls Night Out outfit right now?

Brady Bunch memories

I don’t often wear mini dresses. In fact, I shy away from hemlines above my knee. I like to portray a certain sense of modesty when I dress; and hemlines above the knee are a bit on the racy side for me. Another reason I shy away from high hemlines, is the way my legs look! I feel like my legs are out of shape, not tan, and really should be covered up. So why did I choose this dress you ask? Let’s discuss.

Raise your hand if you remember “The Brady Bunch.” It was one of my favorite re-runs when I was a kid. I loved the early ’70’s, late 60’s styles, and the funny situations the kids always got into; sometimes the parents too! And Alice! Oh she was fabulous. That household would have fallen apart with out her!

The girls from “The Brady Bunch” always wore mini dresses, mini skirt, or flared pants. With the 1970s, and 1960s inspiration designers have favored over the past several seasons, many of the styles remind me of the funny episodes I enjoyed as a kid from the show. But that’s not all!

Last year, my Mother remarried. My Father passed away when I was a baby, so for my entire life, it was always my Mom and me! We were a team; us against the world! Then, in my adult life, when everything seemed set for life, my Mom shakes it all up and marries a man with four adult kids my age. FOUR KIDS! I grew up an only child, now there are other kids around? Um . . kay.

Not that I am complaining, I always dreamed about having a sibling. It was quite lonely being an only child. I also grew up in an neighborhood that did not have a lot of kids, so I always had to make plans to see my friends. Having siblings, would have been a ton of fun. I watch my kids play together, and it is the most beautiful thing in the world.

Now that my family has turned into a real-life Brady Bunch, wearing a style or two which remind me of the show, seems fitting. I chose to wear this dress, not as a move towards higher hemlines in my wardrobe, but as a one-off to remind me of how happy the kids on “The Brady Bunch” were, and how happy we can all be when we get used to our new-found Brady Bunch lives.

Now about those legs which need to hit the gym, and that un-tan . . . um, yeah. Got some work to do before summer!

XOXO
