Military green, and military neutrals, are spring classics. Every season designers find new ways to tempt us with military green ensembles, and coordinating neutrals. For spring 2016, I decided to mix military green, and military neutrals together in order to create a basic, yet fresh look for meetings, church, luncheons, and more!

I absolutely love this military green shirt-dress for the spring season. It is soft, and flowing; taking it beyond the usual casual, daytime dress. I just love it! I paired my military green shirt-dress for spring with my favorite putty satchel, and military green booties for a mixed military neutrals look.

This has been a great outfit for daytime casual events, and casual, early dinners. It is comfortable yet respectable. Love that!

What is your take on military neutrals for the spring season? Do you pair them with bright colors, or classic neutrals? Have you worn them together, or do you wear one military neutral paired with other colors?

Thank you for stopping by,

XOXO

Cathy

Casual spring flares

Pictured: Sunglasses: Chanel / Earrings: Kendra Scott / Lipstick: c/o Dolce & Gabbana Dolce Rosa / Tee: Banana Republic (yes again, I love this tee!) / Necklace: Kendra Scott / Jeans: Gap / Handbag: Mansur Gavriel / Bracelet: Kendra Scott / Nail Polish: Dior Cosmic / Booties: Sam Edelman

I cannot get enough of my casual flares for spring. These jeans are really comfortable, and I love the vintage inspired details around the pockets. They have a 1970s look to them, which I find irresistible!

This was a great outfit for shopping in Historic Downtown Truckee when we visited Lake Tahoe during spring break. The downtown area has so many cute shops! We ended up buying fudge, caramel apples, and chocolate popcorn at “Sweets Handmade Candies” on Donner Pass Road. It is definitely a must-see if you are in the Truckee area; especially if you love caramel apples! Yummy!

Jeans, and a tee shirt, are my go-to casual look during the spring months. It is not warm enough to wear shorts, yet not cold enough to wear a sweater, or thicker top. In order to keep jeans, and a tee shirt, from looking too basic and boring, I love adding my pick Mansur Gavriel, chunky heeled booties, and statement cuff to the outfit. When it comes to casual clothing, it really is all about the accessories! Oh, and vintage inspired jeans too 😉

If you are looking for a pair of fabulous,  1970s style flares, this pair is ideal! They are well under $100, offer great vintage style, are comfortable, and offer high quality! I love a pair of jeans which can be washed several times, and still look like new!

It will be fun to start pairing these casual flares for spring with platform sandals as the weather begins to warm up. They will continue to be my go-to jeans as we move into the summer months.

What is your favorite way to dress up a casual jeans and tee shirt look during the spring season?

Location: Historic Downtown Truckee in the spring.

What I wore to dinner: Sunglasses: Chanel / Earrings: Kendra Scott / Lipstick: Chanel Mighty / Tee: Banana Republic (my go-to tee’s) / Necklace: Kendra Scott / Handbag: Chloe / Nail Polish: Dior Cosmic / Bracelet: Kendra Scott / Skirt: Banana Republic / Shoes: Jimmy Choo (super comfy!)

We stayed in Truckee at our friend’s cabin over spring break, and made most of our meals at home. On our forth night, we decided to take a break from the kitchen, and enjoy dinner in Historic Downtown Truckee. The weather was mild, and in the low ’60’s, so we wore shorts, or skirts.

There are three restaurants we love to eat at in Historic Downtown Truckee; Bar of America, Burger Me, and Truckee Tavern and Grill. We ate at Truckee Tavern and Grill over spring break, which has a fabulous kid’s menu. The adult menu selection has something for everyone, and the Cream of Chicken and Rice soup was a-ma-zing!

The restaurant is on the second floor of an historic building; so if you are lucky, and get a table by the window, you can enjoy a beautiful setting during your meal. We ate there on a Wednesday evening, so we were lucky enough to sit by the window. It was beautiful! The service was also fabulous; the kitchen put together a beautiful fruit bowl for my daughter who requested fruit. They even arranged the fruit in a pretty pattern. She was definitely the happiest kid in Truckee at that moment! Love this restaurant!

I recommend Truckee Tavern and Grill for both family, and adult meals. If you have kids,go early between 5pm and 6pm. This way the restaurant is not crowded yet. On weekends, and during busy vacation times, I recommend making a reservation.

We spent the morning, until about 3pm, skiing and snowboarding at Tahoe Donner. After skiing, we relaxed in the hot tubs, and went swimming! Dinner in Historic Downtown Truckee was the perfect way to cap off a great spring break day in the Lake Tahoe area.
