JustFab colored designer denim review

JustFab recently introduced a new line of on-trend, colored designer denim which is at the right price and fits perfectly into one of the season’s hottest trends; colored jeans! Since I am a sucker for denim, and I love anything which is on trend, the fusion of the color trend with denim intrigued me. So when I heard about Just Fab’s new line of designer denim in bright colors, I was intrigued. Not only is each pair priced at $39.95 or $99 for three pairs, the cropped, skinny style looked perfect for my 5’4” frame. I needed to try these.

Fortunately, JustFab was kind enough to send me a sample of the vibrant purple designer denim from their new collection of colorful cropped pants. As someone who normally spends $60 on the low end and $400 on the high end for denim, I was a little skeptical about trying a pair of jeans priced at $39.95. What type of quality would they be?

I was over-the-moon when the box of JustFab designer denim arrived on my doorstep. After opening the shipping box, I instantly loved the beautiful purple hue of the jeans. Better yet, when I touched the pants and unfolded them, they felt soft and high quality; not what I was expecting for jeans priced at $39.95!

I tried the jeans on within five minutes of unpacking them from the box and I was so excited! Not only did they feel comfortable and have a beautiful purple hue, they fit me! These $39.95 jeans fit me better than many denim pants priced well over $100. Who could have guessed?

Since the designer denim pants from JustFab are cropped, and I happen to be a mere 5’4” the pants hit right at my ankle, acting like a regular pair of skinnies. This is amazing since I cannot find skinnies which fit my height. I also found that I could easily roll the hem of the jeans to make them cropped; the way Kimora Lee Simmons is wearing them in the press photos. I love the versatility!

This was my first experience with JustFab.com which is a monthly fashion club. JustFab is a shopping website where Fashionistas can take a short style quiz and then create an account with no obligation to buy. Due to the results of the style quiz, you are given a monthly “closet” filled with shoes, handbags, jewelry and accessories which are tailored to fit your style personality as determined from the quiz. This is a really fun way to shop and could be a new addiction for me especially since almost everything on the website is priced at a mere $39.95. There is no obligation to buy something each month and you can easily “opt out” by the fifth of the month if you decide not to buy anything.

If this sound confusing, remember back in the day when everyone was in a book-of-the-month or record-of-the-month club? It is a similar design except they do not automatically send you an item if you forget to mail in a card. (yes, totally last century-am I dating myself?)

Since colored denim is hot this season, and JustFab’s colored designer denim is great quality for a fabulous price, I am giving JustFab’s designer denim five out of five stars.

Colored denim is hot for spring 2012

Colored denim began hitting the streets in 2011 and for 2012 the trend is exploding. Not dominant on the runways, the colored denim trend began on the street and is the hottest way to wear jeans this spring 2012 season. While bright pants in silhouettes such as the trouser pant, wide leg pants and cropped pants are popping up everywhere for spring, the colored skinny is the ultimate way to wear the bright colored pant trend for the spring 2012 season.

Brightly colored skinnies offer the best of both worlds when it comes to pant dressing. Since colored skinnies are in the denim family, they offer the instant comfort of wearing jeans. The bright and vivid colors along with the form fitting silhouettes of the skinny jean elevates the colored skinny and makes it cross over into the casual trouser category. This allows colored skinnies to feel comfortable and casual yet offer a crisp and finished look; instant and effortless outfit with style! Love that!

Colored skinnies are being shown in every color imaginable. The hottest colors on the street are cobalt blue, yellow, orange and red. When shopping for colored skinnies, make sure the pants fit properly in the hips. The waist and pant length can easily be altered by a seamstress. The easiest way to wear colored skinnies with is a neutral top for an unstated look or with a bold print which picks up the color in the pants. Pair the look with cork soled platforms, a chunky necklace and if you’re feeling frisky, top off the look with a fabulous and floppy hat! Happy shopping and stay fabulous

Fall 2011 Fashion Trends: Denim

The fall 2011 runways collection in Milan, Paris and New York showed their fair share of denim in varying silhouettes and forms. This is not any surprise since denim is one of the most popular forms of clothing on Earth. Over the past two years denim has taken many forms aside from the traditional pants which are a mainstay in every Fashionista’s closet. Denim dresses were all the rage in summer of 2010 as were denim handbags and shoes. In 2011 denim skirts have moved up in the world and Capri denim pants have slowly emerged from a brief hiatus.

For fall of 2011 denim has five distinct trends which are straight off the runway and are a breath of fresh air for denim enthusiasts who are always looking for the next hot denim trend.

1)      Flares: Flared denim pants are nothing new and have been on store shelves for the past decade. But for fall 2011, they are the number one silhouette for jeans. Flared jeans work perfectly with the vintage trend; 1970’s Boho-chic. Flared jeans also happen to be the most flattering silhouette for the majority of women. The flared bottom helps balance out a woman’s curves, unlike skinny jeans which can make a curvy woman look curvier than she really is. Yikes!

2)      Subtle Colors: Colored denim has been sneaking into fashion over the past three years and this fall they are making their biggest splash yet. While summertime brought store shelves soft pastel denim pants in classic cuts, flare cuts and skinny silhouettes, fall 2011 is bringing dark, autumn shades of denim to the closet’s of woman everywhere. Black jeans are joining the ranks of crisp deep shades of purple, rust, dark military green, shades of brown and deep burgundy. The easiest way to update one’s fall wardrobe this season is with a dark pair of colored denim pants. Fabulous!

3)      Patchwork: Anyone remember the 1980’s? In the 80’s patchwork denim was all the rage and anyone with an ounce of style had some sort of patchwork design on their jeans. Torn jeans were hot and the trend was to patch them from the inside in order to show off the fraying as well as the cute little bit of fabric holding the pants together from the inside. This time around the patchwork is not about fixing frayed and torn jeans, rather, the patches are different types of denim sewn together to create an entirely new piece of denim. Patches are being done symmetrically as well as in an abstract fashion. It’s a mix of uptown chic and downtown edge. Love it!

4)      Jackets: Denim jackets are hot for fall! This casual jacket is perfect for moderate weather and can be found in every shade of blue imaginable as well as dark autumn colors. Denim jackets are also great for resort and spring 2012. When shopping for a denim jacket, look for a shade of denim or color that can carry you into spring 2012, this make the best investment. Short, fitted and sassy, rockin’!

5)      The Chambray Shirt: Oh yeah, it’s back! The chambray shirt is a man’s work shirt made from a thinner version of denim named chambray. The shirt can be found in many shades of blue ranging from almost white to deep dark indigo. The chambray shirt is being paired with skirts, pants and colored denim. But not with the same shade of blue jeans; no matchy matchy! In the early 1990’s the chambray shirt was always worn open with another shirt proudly displayed underneath, as if it were an open jacket. This time around the chambray shirt is button up, sleeves strategically rolled up and untucked. Menswear chic, fabulous!

Denim for fall has its’ casual and dressy casual moments. The main thing is to make sure any pants you buy fit properly and look good on you. One of the worst mistakes a Fashionista can make it to purchase denim because the brand is considered “hot.” Wear the brand that looks good on you and ignore the size on the label. This will help you find the most fabulous pair of jeans whether they be flared, colored or patched up. Happy shopping and stay fabulous
