Athleisure for spring 2017

The athelisure trend for spring 2017 is in full swing! With warmer temperatures and busy spring days, athleisure is the easy and comfortable way to get through the day. Love this trend for spring!

Since athleisure is about as close to walking around town in workout clothes as I am going to get, I tried to glam up my casual daytime look. If you are wondering how to wear the athleisure trend for spring 2017, it is actually quite easy! All you need is one pair of comfy leggings or sweatpants, a fabulous pair of Adidas sneakers, a cute yet casual tee, and of course your go-to Mansur Gavriel bucket bag. Voila! Athleisure for spring 2017!

This sparkle tee in navy with rose gold threading is a full on game changer. It is a casual, basic tee by nature, yet elevated because it sparkles. I have to admit, I also bought it in beige with yellow golden threads. It is perfect for making everyday jeans and a tee into a glamorous ensemble. I love how it makes these leggings and a tee outfit something special.

Athleisure for spring would not be as cool as it is without a pair of Adidas sneakers! Back in the 1990s I owned a pair with navy stripes, and before that, I had the old school, green striped version. For spring 2017, I decided to glam things up and I bought them with the rose gold stripes. I love the rose gold!!! If you are looking for a pair of street sneakers with an IT factor, these are the sneakers for you! They come in different colors too, so there is something for everyone. You can find them online here.

Ever since fashion week, I have been living in this denim shirt and these comfy leggings. Isn’t it fun to mix up clothing from your closet and make them glam one day, and casual the next? Love that!

So the ultimate casual look this spring is the athleisure trend. If you are looking for a way to be fashionable and fabulous, without breaking your ankles in platform heels, then the athleisure trend for spring 2017 is for you! I know I am living in it this season, and this outfit is my absolute favorite!

One last thing, my cute little ten-year-old daughter took these photos, are they great! She is so talented!

So what do you think of the athleisure trend for spring 2017? Will you be rocking it this warm weather season?

Thanks for stopping by!

For those about to rock

Wearing: Gorjana earrings (sold out, also love this pair) / Chanel spring lipstick / vintage AC/DC tee, here is a cute one, more choices below / Kendra Scott ring / Gucci belt / JW Anderson Pierce bag / jeans c/o Bridge & Boro (last seen here) / Chanel spring nail polish / Valentino heels (old, also love this pair and this pair under $150)

One of my favorite activities with my friends in the 1990s was attending concerts. I loved seeing live music, and being able to hear the musicians play in person; without any studio enhancements. This was before modern artists lip-synced on stage and used other “helpers” to perform. Bands used to play raw. If the singer had a strained voice, you could hear it, if someone hit a wrong note, you heard that too. It was fun and made the music real; it all came to life.

If I had some extra cash, I would purchase a tee-shirt from the concert as a memento. I always wore my shirt proudly to school the Monday after a concert, and I would integrate it into my wardrobe. Once I got to college, band tee’s were not really “cool” anymore, so I folded mine up and stored them; after all, they were my mementos.

Fast forward to 2017 and I see people wearing band tee’s again! Love it! So I found two in my coffers and decided to re-integrate them into my wardrobe for the spring season. I love vintage pieces with meaning, as well as sharing my music taste!

AC/DC was one of my favorite groups when I was in high school. I saw them in concert twice! Once at the Cow Palace in San Francisco, and once in Oakland; The Razor’s Edge tour and also the Money Talks tour. My love for the band’s music has never wavered, and I will always enjoy listening to their albums. My eight-year-old son has also taken a liking to AC/DC and he loves “Back in Black.” It is fun to be able to share my favorite music with my kids. I hope they enjoy music from my generation, as well as their own.

There is so much good music from all periods in time. I enjoy everything from Opera to classic pop to classic rock to modern music. Every musical genre has it’s own special flavor; music makes the world go round!

What is your favorite type of music? Do you have any favorite music groups that have withstood time?

Rain storm at fashion week

new york street style gucci belt street stylecasual new york style givenchy antigona nyfw street style

Wearing: hat (old, also love this one) / Chanel spring lipstick / ivory fringe earrings / Alexander McQueen scarf (the street style photogs loved this!)  / cozy black faux shearling jacket (on major sale!) / black tee / Gucci belt (current obsession) / destroyed boyfriend jeans (sold out, also love this pair) / Givenchy handbag / Chanel spring nail polish / black socks / silver street sneakers (under $150!!)

The forth day of New York Fashion Week, there was a crazy rain storm. I had planned to wear this beautiful floral maxi skirt with this jacket pictured above, and a black turtleneck. Alas, there was so much salt on the ground from the recent snow storm, and the puddles were so brown with dirt, I was too chicken to wear my beautiful new skirt in those conditions. I decided I would wear clothing which was machine washable, comfortable, and OK to get wet or dirty.

Surprisingly, many people wear casual clothing at fashion week. Not everyone is wearing the latest, greatest outfit. Not everyone is peacocking for the photographers, and not everyone is trying to be a runway show themselves. Therefore, when I wore this outfit, I blended into the crowd and even had my scarf snapped by photographers. Throughout the week the street style photogs were snapping pictures of my scarf. I didn’t see the photos appear anywhere, but hey, it’s fun anyway; especially since I love this scarf and have been wearing it non-stop since I purchased it in early fall 2016. Love that!

The temperatures were actually not cold on the fourth day of fashion week. They hovered in the 40’s, and the heat was cranked up inside the show venue, so wearing a short sleeve tee under my jacket was key for my overall comfort. This outfit turned out to be extremely practical for the conditions of the day, and it is also a fabulous casual look for transitioning from winter into spring as temperatures warm up. Love!

This was not a planned outfit, it was a bunch of pieces from my suitcase thrown together. Thankfully, it worked out! Since the rain was so strong, and the lighting was horrible, Kali’s hubby from In-Spades.com snapped these photos in the patio of our hotel. He did a great job compensating for the horrible lighting! I think the photos capture the essence of the weather that day.

Day four was another jam-packed day! My schedule included Marcel Ostertag, Elizabeth Kennedy, Verdad, Custo Barcelona, Leanne Marshall, Vivienne Hu, and Namilia. Normally Sunday at fashion week is on the calm side; a time to rest a little and see fewer shows than on other days-but not this season! Whew! These were great collections, I am so glad it was not a quiet day!

Thank you for stopping by, and I hope you are loving fall 2017 from New York Fashion Week!
