Over the Labor Day weekend, we had temperatures ranging from 95 to 108 degrees. We tend to get a heatwave this time of year every year, but this time, it seemed worse. In 2008, we moved from San Jose to Saratoga and it was 105 degrees the day we moved. Our movers were so tired from the heat, they stopped bringing furniture upstairs! It was kind of a nightmare to move in such extreme heat. I could never live in an area where these types of temperatures are considered normal. Thank goodness this only happens about once per year.

In order to escape the heat over the weekend, we went north to San Francisco. The city is usually a bit cooler then the south bay, so we hoped for bearable temperatures, and maybe even some fog. Of course the day we went, the temperature in the city was about 90, and the humidity was crazy high! My early fall outfit turned out to be a little bit warm for the conditions. This fun cape tee was perfect, but the jeans were a little too thick. Oh well, that’s life, right?!

Despite the heat and humidity, we managed to have a lot of fun. We took the kids to Chinatown; which is a part of the city we don’t normally think of taking the kids. There aren’t any “kid” destinations there; mainly shops, restaurants, and lanterns. The kids loved the shops and the overall vibe of Chinatown. I was afraid they wouldn’t like the crowded, hustle-and-bustle of this part of town, but they loved it!

Since we were in Chinatown, we knew we had to grab some dim sum. We stopped in at Peninsula Seafood Restaurant on Jackson, which offered us a wait time of thirty minutes for a table of five. It turned out to be a forty-five minute wait, but it was so worth it! The food was delicious, and my kids were in dim sum heaven. I definitely want to go back for more!

After we ate, we made the kids walk up to Coit Tower to check out the view. It was overcast, so not much of a view; but still a good walk, and the kids had fun. I thought it was so cute when the kids asked when we are going back to Chinatown! Looks like I have some city slickers on my hands! We will definitely go back sometime soon.

Did you have a heat wave over Labor Day weekend? What were your temps and how did you escape the heat?

Thanks for stopping by!

Fall wide leg pants and a ruffle top

fall ruffle tops affordable fall outfits proenza schouler hava handbag blogger affordable fall wide leg pantsaffordable fall wide leg pants stripedaffordable wide leg pants

wearing: blue tassel earrings / Chanel lipstick / winter white ruffle top c/o SheIn (under $15!!) / bold silver cuff (on major sale!!) / Chanel fall nail polish / white leather watch / Proenza Schouler Hava satchel / blue fall wide leg pants c/o SheIn (under $20!!) / silver mules (under $100 and super comfy!!)

It is almost officially fall! Despite the close proximity of the fall season’s start date, the weather here in the Bay Area has been heating up like crazy! I wore these fall wide leg pants last weekend when temperatures soared to 103 degrees. They kept me cool, while allowing me to rock one of fall 2017’s trends; the wide leg pant.

Wide leg pants for fall are a huge trend! We are seeing all types of fabrics being constructed into fall wide leg pants. I love how this pair flows and offers an on-trend stripe pattern featuring navy and winter white. This winter white ruffle top works perfectly with the pants; and it is a cool fabric making it perfect for early fall’s hot temperatures. When the weather cools down in about five to six weeks, this ruffle top and these wide leg pants will transition into cooler temperatures with the addition of boots and a moto jacket; bonus points if it’s a silver moto jacket! So hot for fall!!

The pants, ruffle top, and shoes make a complete outfit priced under $115. Isn’t that amazing!! I love finding great deals on fashion-forward items which will take me through an entire season.

What do you think about the fall wide leg pant trend this season? Is this a trend you plan to rock? It is pretty easy to wear, even if you are short. I am 5’4″ and I love how they look. These pants can be worn at the ankle, or cropped; depending on your height, and where they hit you. Cropped wide leg pants are just as hot, and on trend, as regular length. Which type do you prefer?

Go-to casual fall look

cute fall outfits casual style bloggers santana row famous wallit bags fall 2017affordable casual outfits fall 2017

wearing: dark blue tassel c/o BaubleBar (new for fall!) / Chanel lipstick / grey and black casual fall top / dark rinse girlfriend jeans / Givenchy bag / Chanel Rose Prodigious nail polish / silver statement ring  / embroidered slides

I always need to have a couple of go-to outfits in my arsenal each season. My go-to outfit needs to be comfortable, casual, machine washable; and easy to throw on at a moments notice. This casual look hits all the buttons!

Last week, my daughter and I strolled around Santana Row in search of fabulous fall style, which I will be sharing with you later this week; and also enjoyed a yummy lunch. It was her first week of school, and she worked really hard to finish her schoolwork in four days so she could take Friday off. This is a common theme for her. Since we home-school through an online school, we can manage her time according to our whims; and her whim is to have a three day weekend. So it shall be!

She is in sixth grade this year, and the schoolwork is getting interesting. She loves ancient history; although learning about ancient Egypt scares her; she doesn’t want to see any mummies! I have to admit, sixth grade history was my favorite in middle school. It might actually be fun for me! haha

Since I am home-schooling during the day, squeezing work in before the kids wake up, and then taxiing my kids around to their after-school activities; I need clothing which is comfortable and fuss-free. This outfit is definitely going to be something I continue to reach for throughout both the fall and winter seasons. The jeans are loose and comfortable, the top is loose and comfortable, the slides are easy on and off; and of course, this is my favorite handbag on the planet! haha

What is your favorite type of go-to outfit as we move into fall?
