Spring 2023 is just about here! The blossoms are blooming, the weather is hot, cold, warm, cool, wet, dry, and icy, and the sun will sometimes say hi. When you walk into a store, the colors are bright, and the spring cheer is everywhere. Love that!

There are a few trends from last year we are seeing continue into this year, while a few new trends are emerging for spring 2023. Here are the top trends for spring 2023 we all need in our wardrobe.

Interesting Shoulders: This means shoulders with a little somethin’ somethin’. Look for puff sleeves, one-shoulder looks, and cut-outs.

Small handbags: Despite the oversize bags on the runways, the streets still prefer smaller bags. Look for small and medium sized hobo bags, moon shaped bags, interesting and non-traditional shaped bags, small one handle satchels or lady bags, straw and natural fiber bags, the baguette, and plastic or jelly bags are hotter than hot. Look for handbags in classic neutrals, or happy colors.

Square Toes: The square toe is making a comeback, and as we move through the year you will see it more and more. Look for square toes and enjoy them! Square toes allow your toes room to wiggle. Love that!

Layered jewelry: For the spring 2023 season, look for layered necklaces, layered bracelets, and classic pieces; that can be layered! Layer-up your baubles!

No Skinny Jeans: There is one denim rule this spring 2023 season, no skinny jeans! Look for straight leg jeans, flare jeans, and wide leg styles. Your jeans can be traditional blue, or a color from the rainbow; as long as they are not skinny. The hemline can drape over your shoe, be jogger-style, ankle length, or cropped. Anything goes, as long as your jeans are not skinny.

Cut outs: This trend is going to last well into 2024, so get into it! Cut outs on your shoulder, at your waist, on your back, or anywhere; cut outs on your clothing is hotter than hot.

Vintage inspiration: Look for 1960s and 1970s hemlines, meaning mini and maxi. Designers took a lot of inspiration from the 1960s through the 1980s. Hemlines are from the 1960s and 1970s, while colors and sleeves are from the 1980s. You might still see some 1990s in there, but the ’60’s through to the ’80’s are where spring 2023 is at. Groovy.

Stay anonymous: Shove those loud logos to the back of your closet. Your handbags and belts should be anonymous. If people can tell the brand or designer of anything you are wearing from a mile away, it’s so last year. Look for, and wear, quiet luxury.

Well, there you go! The top spring 2023 trends which made it from the runways to the streets for the spring 2023 season. Love!

Thanks for stopping by, and stay tuned for more spring coverage.

Fall 2023 trends from NYFW

The last model has walked off the fall/winter 2023/2024 runway in New York, and we are left with continuing trends, as well as a few new ones. So get ready!

The fall 2023 season is looking a little bit brighter, and also giving consumers celebratory styles to covet in the next cool weather season. Designers opted for bright hues, sparkling fabrics, cold shoulder necklines, asymmetrical and dramatic hemlines, power suiting, menswear inspiration, and looks which really show off all the work we have been doing at the gym. Get those abs of steel people!

It doesn’t matter how cold the weather gets; you better be showing off those abs next season! Designers are showing all sorts of cut outs, low waistlines, and cropped styles. Make sure you don’t skip Pilates class, because your abs will be on full display next fall.

Classic black and white combos graced the majority of the runways for the fall/winter 2023/2024 as well as all-black ensembles. In contrast, bright hues from all over the rainbow also graced the NYFW runways. Look for solid, tonal looks in bright hues you would expect in the spring or summer, not the fall. Be bright! For the more popular hues, check out the top ten from Pantone.

Not in the mood to suffer through high heels and a dress? Yeah, I feel ya. The feminine tuxedo is back! This trend is fabulous. It evokes power, plus, you can make multiple outfits with one tuxedo. Invest in one; especially if you go out a lot. Love it!

Metallics are still hot! Next fall, you will find shiny fabrics, sparkling fabrications, and metallic handbags. You can add a shiny blazer over another outfit for an understated look, or go full head-to-toe metallic. How bright do you want to be?

In addition to the five trends featured in these photos, also look for more oversized bags; we shall see if consumers pick up this trend, so far, it’s a no-go. Also watch for more small satchels; in the fall you will see more kitschy shapes instead of classic lady bag silhouettes. Also, faux and real leather, as well as faux fur, puffy coats, and statement coats. Of course, let’s not forget shoes! The square toe is coming back, so watch for square toes; you will already see them on store shelves now. Start investing!

What do you think of the trends coming in for the fall/winter 2023/2024 season?

Thanks for stopping by!

Fall 2023 color trends from Pantone and NYFW

The Pantone color trends for the fall/winter 2023/2024 season are here! Although we are still ramping up for the spring season, the fall color trends can help guide us when we look into purchasing items which are investments throughout the year, such as accessories, sweater, jackets, pants, and more!

I love how the upcoming fall color trends are anything but traditional. We see the color of 2023, which is Viva Magenta, and we also see bright colors from the warmer side of the color wheel. Green has been popular lately, thanks for Bottega Veneta, and it looks like versions of periwinkle are still going strong. Love that!

We can also look for cheery hues with yellow, and a surprisingly spring-like hue with peach! Who would have thought about peach for fall??? Groundbreaking!

When it comes to neutral hues, classic navy, winter white, and chocolate brown are in play for the fall and winter seasons as well as a spring-like grey and beige. These neutral hues are offering both warm and cool options, which should play well with whichever color palette we choose to wear in the fall.

What do you think of the fall/winter 2023/2024 color palette? Next week I will clue you in on all the hottest trends from the New York Fashion Week runways for fall/winter 2023/2024!
