The San Francisco Bay Area has been enjoying drought weather this winter season. Not that we enjoy a drought, we need water! But, it is nice to be able to leave the heater turned off and bask in temperatures hovering between 60 and 73 degrees! Due to this spring-like weather pattern, I am craving a spring-like wardrobe! Of course, January is when all the bills from December arrive in the mail, therefore, it really is not a great month to start going crazy at the mall by buying everything that is spring! So, to add one small bit of spring-like sunshine to my dark winter wardrobe, I bought this bright pink tote from Rebecca Minkoff’s spring 2014 collection!

I love this tote. Not only is it a bright, cheery pink, the hue blends well with my vast array of blue, green and purple apparel. Love that! To make the tote an even better purchase, it is made from saffiano leather which is incredibly durable. It is so durable, if I happen to get caught in a rainstorm, (<cough cough> if it ever rains!), my tote will survive the watery skies.

Are you starting to crave the spring season? If so, how are you incorporating it into your current wardrobe?

Look by Mai Quynh for Laura Mercier

Makeup artist Mai Quynh created a modern and warm look for Reese Witherspoon, who was a presenter at the 71st Annual Golden Globes. Quynh was inspired by the viridian color of Witherspoon’s Calvin Klein dress, as well as her golden complexion.

FACE: Golden, flawless skin

1) Quynh first prepped the skin with La Praire Skin Caviar Luxe Cream and applied Fresh Sugar Lip Treat to her lips. Then she used a foundation brush to apply Laura Mercier Foundation Primer, ($32) all over Witherspoon’s face.

2) She then applied NEW Laura Mercier Smooth Finish Flawless Fluide Foundation (COMING FALL 2014) using a BeautyBlender Sponge. She stated, “I love how the natural, matte texture of this foundation melts into the skin, leaving it smooth and flawless.”

3) Next, Quynh applied Laura Mercier Secret Concealer, ($23) under Witherspoon’s eyes and Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage, ($32) around her nose.

4) She then applied Laura Mercier Crème Cheek Colour in Praline, ($24) onto the apples of Witherspoon’s cheeks and layered Laura Mercier Second Skin Cheek Colour in Peach Whisper, ($25) on top. She stated, “Layering creams and powders will ensure that your makeup will stay on longer.”

5) Lastly, Quynh applied Laura Mercier Pressed Setting Powder in Translucent, ($34) using the Laura Mercier Finishing Brush, ($42). She then dusted the actress’s forehead, cheeks and chin with Too Faced Milk Chocolate Soleil Powder Bronzer using the Laura Mercier Bronzer Brush, ($45).

LIPS: Neutral lips

Quynh first used Laura Mercier Rouge Nouveau Weightless Lip Colour in Play, ($24) and swept Laura Mercier Lip Glacé in Bellini, ($24) on top.

EYES: Bright, sultry eyes were the main focus of the look

1) First, Quynh mixed Laura Mercier Caviar Stick Eye Colours in Sand Glow and Cocoa, ($26/each) and applied the color from the inside of her eyelid, blending it towards the outer lid.

2) Next, she applied Laura Mercier Illuminating Eye Colour in Fire Glow, ($24) from the lash line to the crease using the Laura Mercier All Over Eye Colour Brush, ($30). She then blended the shadow using the Laura Mercier Eye Crease Brush, ($29).

3) For added depth and dimension, Quynh added Laura Mercier Illuminating Eye Colour in Earth Glow, ($24) to the outer crease. She smudged both Illuminating Eye Colours to the lower lash line, using the Laura Mercier Smudge Brush, ($24)

4) Finally, she rimmed Witherspoon’s eyes with Laura Mercier Kohl Eye Pencil in Brown Copper, ($22) and finished the look with two coats of Laura Mercier Long Lash Mascara in Black, ($24).

PVC for spring 2014

The PVC trend is back. Designers in Milan, as well as a few in Paris, New York and London, are showing PVC for the upcoming warm weather season. For spring 2014, PVC is being shown as an accent as well the main fabrication for accessories. On Fendi’s spring/summer 2014 runway we saw a large amount of colorful PVC used on shoes and throughout the show. In fact, Fendi’s use of PVC for spring 2014 may just be the nucleus of the trend!

PVC has been peeking in and out of style over the past few years, and for spring 2014, it has come back with a vengeance. Clear handbags are hotter than hot; whether made with PVC or another similar material, the look is clear. See through accessories are where its’ at!

For spring and summer 2014, look for PVC accents on shoes and look for full, see-though handbags. If you rocked this trend the first time is came around a few years ago, bring out those PVC pieces from the back of your closet. They are hot again! If not, this is a fun trend to play with for the spring/summer 2014 season. Look for one PVC piece to add to your collection.

I found a few fabulous PVC pieces around the web and assembled them into the shopping widget below. I hope you love them! Happy shopping, and stay fabulous 😉
