Halloween is fast approaching; and that means it is time to think about the perfect Halloween costume! There are so many fun characters from 2014 which would make amazing Halloween costumes this month. The Maleficent movie, earlier this year, created a whole new fan base for Maleficent; making this one of the hottest costumes for the Halloween season.

In addition to new characters such as Maleficent, there are plenty of classic characters which always make fabulous Halloween costumes; not only for adults, but for the kids too! Classic costumes for Halloween include, Batwoman, Wilma Flintstone Cleopatra and any type of spooky, creepy, witch!

Children are also enjoying both new and classic characters in 2014 which will make amazing Halloween Costumes. Last years’ minion is still a a popular character as well as classic vampires, Disney characters and pirates.

I have not picked out a costume yet for this Halloween. My kids are planning to be a pirate, a minion and a sorceress. Have you chosen your Halloween costume yet? If so, what do you plan to dress up as?

Dolce & Gabbana Verde Bosco nail polish review

Dolce & Gabbana verde bosco nail polish fall 2014

Dolce & Gabbana’s new Verde Bosco nail polish for the fall 2014 season is just as mysterious as it is alluring. The deep, dark, hunter green hue appears black at first glance, but when examined closely, one can see the hunter green color hiding inside.

Playing off of the captivating colors from Dolce & Gabbana’s fall 2014 runway, Verde Bosco nail polish captures the magic of Dolce & Gabbana’s runway inspiration which offered a color palette inspired by the bewitching allure of nature. Hunter green also happens to be one of the “IT” colors of the fall 2014; making Dolce & Gabbana’s Verde Bosco nail polish an easy way to wear the hunter green color trend this autumn season.

I tested out Dolce & Gabbana’s Verde Bosco nail polish with one base coat and two coats of color. The nail polish stayed chip free for six days. Love that! The color was fun as it seemingly changed from appearing black, to a deep hunter green, depending upon the light. I love the mysterious effect Verde Bosco by Dolce & Gabbana has and will enjoy wearing it this fall season.

Dolce & Gabbana Verde Bosco nail polish works well with fall 2014’s dark autumn color palette. The hunter green hue also blends well with fall 2014’s neutral palette while offering a slight color contrast to the season’s blacks and grays. Verde Bosco by Dolce & Gabbana also offers a sophisticated touch to evening apparel this fall 2014 season.

Lug soles are back. I never thought I would utter those words; I have! The lug sole was huge in the late 1980’s through to the early 1990’s. At that time, you never wanted a platform; only a lug sole. Lug soles were mainly found on loafers and boots, but would occasionally pop up on high heels and sandals.

In 2009, Prada showed the lug sole on a pair of high heeled, runway loafer pumps. Although a few designers caught on to the possible emerging trend, the lug sole remained quietly in the background, unable to revive, until 2014. Cue in the lug sole!

Although associated with the falling grunge trend, lug soles were actually a precursor to the grunge trend in the early 1990’s. They were considered “over” by the time the Seattle Sound hit the airwaves and teenagers smelled like teen spirit while wearing flannel shirts around the globe. The only lug soles left in style by the time grunge became popular, aside from Doc Martins, were in the form of hiking boots; which was a big casual trend in the early to mid-1990’s.

For fall 2014, designers have gone head over heels for the lug sole. Lug soles are being found on every type of shoe imaginable including loafers, pumps, high heels, sandals, boots, and any type of shoe imaginable. The fabulous thing about the lug sole is that it adds height, like a platform shoe would, but it gets through the “platforms are out” loophole by simply being a lug sole. Love that!

Lug soles are also handy when it is raining or snowing outside. The lug sole is utilitarian and hugs the ground, allowing you to walk without slipping and falling. Under normal circumstances, one would have to wear boring snow boots or rain boots in order to enjoy the practicality of the lug sole in rain or snow. Thankfully, the lug sole has come out from under work boots, and weather shoes, in order to be a fashionable and practical look/answer to the fall season; and bad weather! Love it!

Now, if only California would get some REALLY bad weather in order to combat this terrible drought we are having; and also, so we can wear our lug soled shoes and enjoy not slipping!

What do you think of the lug sole trend for fall 2014, and into 2015? Will you wear it?
