The spring blossoms have arrived, and for the past week, we have been enjoying spring-like temperatures hovering in the high 60’s and reaching into the low 70’s. I was thrilled to find this tree which had the most beautiful blossoms I have seen this season. Unfortunately, I am not sure how long the spring blossoms will fare due to the current rain storm we are experiencing. It is possible the rain and wind could wipe out the spring blossoms. Thankfully I captured a few on camera!

A little over a week ago I introduced to you a fabulous jewelry line named Joey J. I fell in love with their jewelry collection and am thrilled to be wearing a beautiful pair of earrings from the “Glamorous Romance” collection! I paired my new Joey J earrings with an outfit I wore at New York Fashion Week when it was snowing outside and never photographed it. Don’t worry, I wore this outfit with boots, not high heels when I was in the snow!

This sweater from BCBG was perfect in New York, and it is working well here in our moderate, Northern California weather. The sweater can be worn open with a draped appearance, or wrapped around my shoulder’s for coziness. I also love that fact that it is reversible! I have been wearing it with the black side out, but I am sure when the weather warms up, and I would like to lighten up my color palette, I will be wearing the sweater with the ivory side up!

I felt like this was the perfect outfit for my first time out in my new Joey J earrings. The ensemble reminds me of New York Fashion Week, which is glamorous, and the beautiful spring blossoms in the background are romantic! These earrings are the perfect size to be worn during the day, or for evening events. I can definitely see wearing them with a cocktail dress! I am also looking forward to pairing them with casual looks in order to add a little bit of glam to my ensemble.

Jack Black Core Collection review

Jack Black Core _1

Starting your day the right way with Jack Black’s Core Collection

By Rob O’Brien

Today I started my day by using Jack Black’s Core Collection.  I was excited to have the opportunity to test these fine products.  The Jack Black Core Collection contains three grooming products:

  • Pure Clean Daily Facial Cleanser
  • Beard Lube
  • Face Moisturizer

First, I started by washing my face with the Jack Black facial cleanser.  The cleanser went on my face very smoothly.  It felt good on my skin, and I could feel it cleansing my face.  After rinsing, my face was soft and squeaky clean.  I could smell the sage scent which was pleasant yet still masculine.  Next, it was time for a refreshing shave.  I used the Jack Black Beard Lube to properly prepare my face for shaving.  The beard lube went on smoothly and was not too gooey.   I had no problems shaving my face, even though it had been over two days since my previous shave.  After I was done shaving, my face was very smooth with a slight smell of eucalyptus.  Then I applied the face moisturizer.  The moisturizer went on very well.  I was able to easily rub the moisturizer into my face without much effort.  My face felt soft and refreshed.  An additional benefit was that the moisturizer also acted as SPF 20 sunscreen.  This is a nice benefit of skin protection from the sun and harmful ultraviolet rays.  And since I was taking a drive in a convertible, the face moisturizer definitely fit the bill for what I needed that day.

Overall, I was very impressed with the Jack Black Core Collection.  The Core Collection was effective in preparing my face in a refreshing way.  I recommend Jack Black’s Core Collection highly for those that want a clean and energized face to start their day.

Jack Black’s Core Collection is priced at $52 and can be found online here and here.

Spring 2014 trends: crop tops

Crop tops came into fashion in 2013, and for spring 2014, the 1980’s style is back with a vengeance. Crop tops are everywhere for spring 2014 and being paired with skirts, shorts, skorts and pants in the same fabrication for a suit-like ensemble. In addition to being the top half of the “new suit,” crop tops are also being shown with workout clothing and as casual tee-shirts for a lazy weekend day.

There were fashion editors and insiders everywhere at New York Fashion Week sporting crop tops while attending the fashion shows for fall 2014. Despite the snow, these wearers of crop tops paired their spring 2014 “shirt of the season” with pants, skirts, tights and boots in an attempt to keep warm. The crop tops were often paired with a bottom made from the same fabric as the crop top. Matchy-matchy!

This is one trend from the 1980’s we have not seen make a resurgence in the last twenty-something years. Crop tops were hot for several years in the mid-1980’s to late-1980’s until the waistlines on denim began to sink below the waist and the hip hugger returned from the 1970’s. That was the death of the crop top.

We are starting to see waistlines on denim begin to rise, and as the waistline rises towards, gasp!, the waist, the crop top is gaining momentum as the new “it” shirt of the spring 2014 season; and most likely the summer 2014 season. This is one runway trend which is already a hit on the streets.

I found a few fabulous crop tops around the web and assembled them into the shopping widget below. I hope you love them! Happy shopping, and stay fabulous 😉
