Asymmetrical hemlines for spring

how to wear asymmetrical hemlines asymmetrical hemline outfit idea

Wearing: bold green and gold earrings / YSL lipstick / white ruffle top (under $20!!) / gold watch / Christian Louboutin spring nail polish / asymmetrical striped skirt / Mansur Gavriel handbag (in stock here) / Kendra Scott spring ring / Gucci slides

One of the biggest trends on the runways for spring was the asymmetrical hemline. Since this type of hemline isn’t common on the streets, I was wondering how to wear asymmetrical hemlines for spring 2017. I decided it needed to be done by taking the overall look down a notch; hence runway to the street.

In order to take this wrap skirt, with an asymmetrical waist and hemline, down to the street, I paired it with a simple ruffle tee. The addition of flat slides also helped to make the overall look more understated. It was really easy and comfortable to wear! I wore this outfit for the first time when I took my daughter to her chess class, hung out at a coffee shop with the other Mom’s from the class, took my daughter out for a sushi lunch, picked up my glasses, took a walk; basically ran errands!

It was really easy to walk around in these slides, and the outfit was perfect for the nice spring weather we are having here in the San Francisco Bay Area. We were in San Jose when we took these pictures at Santana Row. My cute little ten-year-old daughter took these photos. She did quite well! She might know her way around a DSLR camera better then me!

So what do you think of the asymmetrical hemline trend for the spring season? Have you been wondering how to wear asymmetrical hemlines this spring season, or does the trend appear too daunting?

The easiest way to bring asymmetrical hemlines from the runway to reality is by pairing them with something simple such as plain tee, a ruffle tee, or crew-neck top; even a button down, crisp white shirt will do the trick. When you mix basic with abstract you can amp up a simple outfit, or bring a runway art piece to the street.

No-one can deny, ruffles are a huge trend for the spring 2017 season. We saw them on the runways, and then they took the streets by storm. Of course the ruffle trend did not just start now, it started a few seasons ago, and this season is has exploded beyond belief!

It seems as if everywhere I turn this spring season I see ruffles! It is almost like they are chasing me around! Well, I love ruffles for spring, and I am happy they are everywhere! There is something carefree and fun about ruffles. They are playful and light; making any outfit fabulous and fun at the same time. Love!

I was so thrilled to find this pale pink blouse for under $30. Not only does it offer a carefree silhouette, it has ruffles! Oh the fun of it! My daughters love it too, they think it is so much fun. It is really comfortable with my loose fitting boyfriend jeans. This has turned into my go-to casual look for spring when I want to feel comfortable yet pulled together.

What do you think of the ruffle trend for spring? Are you wearing ruffles for spring, if so, how do you like to wear them?

Over the weekend I drove up to San Francisco with my friend Dawn Lucy of Fashion Should Be Fun. We headed up to the city for a rewardStyle class on entertaining. The class was really fun because we were not only there to socialize, we were entertained too!

The event took place at The Cheese School in the Mission district. Who knew there was a school for cheese?!?! We were taught all about pairing wine with cheese, which is very handy when choosing the menu for an event held in your home. Loved it!

In addition to wine and cheese pairings, we learned all about flower arranging. Normally when I entertain, I purchase flowers from the supermarket, put some water in the vase, add the packet, and then plop the flowers into the vase. Now that I have learned how to arrange them, I am going to be more careful, and mindful, of how I create my centerpieces. Love!

Part of the event was social. We were treated with delicious appetizers, bean salad, and beautiful decor. In addition to the atmosphere, the event was filled with local bloggers who were fun to meet, talk to, and befriend! I met so many fabulous, nice people that night! I love connecting with like-minded, local bloggers.

Before the event, Dawn and I spotted this mural a couple of blocks from The Cheese School and thought it would be fun to snap pictures of our outfits in front of it. We loved the composition of the mural. Isn’t it cool! I love the mix of showing artists painting our beautiful city, and children studying. It displays the intellectual yet artistic side of San Francisco which makes our city so fabulous.

The Mission is filled with murals, do you have a favorite one? If so, please share in the comments below!
