Twisted Silver’s Time Necklace and Time Earrings make the ultimate eco-chic statement

Two of the biggest trends this fall are bold jewelry and eco-chic fashion. That being said, Twisted Silver has done it again! The fabulous Bay Area based jeweler has designed the Time Collection which features recycled watch faces that have been turned into dainty earrings and a bold necklace. The casual Time Earrings and Time Necklace are perfect for fall’s casual ensembles and are destined to be every Fashionista’s “go-to” pieces for the cool weather season.

The dainty Time Earrings are in perfect proportion to be worn with the Time Necklace. One of the biggest rules in jewelry is making sure a statement piece does not get overwhelmed by another statement peice. While the Time Earrings will surely make a statement, their small size compliments the thick, bold chain of the Time Necklace and the large watch-face pendant with toggle closure.

The Time Necklace arrives online at twisted-silver.com August 2 while the Time Earrings arrive online August 9. Bay Area Fashionista readers can use coupon code INSIDERS for 15% off. Fabulous!

Fall 2011 Fashion Trends: Vintage

The fall 2011 runways in New York, Milan and Paris gave the fashion world a glimpse of what will be hitting store shelves later this year. Although there were many trends and unique looks from designers around the world in February, March and April, one of the more dominant trends from the runway was the vintage trend.

The vintage trend seems to make its way onto the runways every season in various forms from accessories to hair-styles to overall silhouettes and ensembles. The fall 2011 runways seemed to favor a few time periods this season which are continuing from spring 2011 as well as appearing for the first time in a few years.

The 1960’s and 1970’s were all over the spring 2011 runways and continued to make an impact for fall 2011. Designers such as Blumarine (1960’s) and Marc by Marc Jacobs (1970’s) featured a simple decade in their collections and created an instant vibe that took viewers back to a different time. The influence in the runway collections as a whole from these decades gave the fashion world a continuation of 1960’s bright colors, 1970’s wide leg pants, 1970’s hats, 1970’s shoulder bags and shoes from both eras.

The 1980’s also made a small appearance on the fall 2011 runways. Dolce & Gabbana created collection for fall which instantly took the fashion world back to a time of bubble gum pop, oversized shirts and eclectic mixtures of colors. The 1980’s showed Fashionistas that mixing colors and loose tops over thin bottoms are du rigueur for fall 2011.

The Great Recession has led designers to be inspired by the styles of the Great Depression. Designers such as Louis Vuitton showed vintage silhouettes from the 1930’s and 1940’s with top handle satchels, below the knee skirts and ladylike looks that evoke memories of black and white film.

The vintage trend for fall 2011 is diverse and includes contrasting decades and influences from bright and swinging eras as well as times of struggle. It should be interesting to see which time periods buyers decide to gravitate towards.

Ray-Ban Wayfarers make a comeback in bold colors and designs

Ray-Ban Wayfarers were one of the hottest styles of sunglasses in the 1980’s here in the Bay Area. Anywhere you turned, Fashionistas and non-Fashionistas were either wearing Vuarnet’s or Wayfarers. While Vuarnet fans opted for classic colors such as black and brown, Ray-Ban fans wore their Wayfarers in white, red or any color that suited their outfit of the day.

Ray-Ban Wayfarers, originally introduced to the market in 1952, have cycled in and out of fashion over the last sixty plus years. Over the past five years, Ray-Ban Wayfarers have been creeping back onto city streets with celebrities such as Drew Barymoore launching them back into the spotlight. For the upcoming resort and spring season, Ray-Ban has released several new colors and prints for the Wayfarer style, many of which are sold exclusively at Nordstrom.

Bold colors, mixed textures and unlikely color combinations were dominant on the spring 2011 runways in New York, Paris and Milan. The Ray-Ban Wayfarer colors and design palette mirrors the visual vibe designers put forth for the upcoming spring season.

Ray-Ban Wayfarers are being shown in classic Wayfarer colors such as white, black and red for the spring season. The bright and bold colors, that Ray-Ban is showing for spring on their Wayfarer style sunglasses, is capturing the attention of Fashionistas everywhere. With a move towards mixing bold together, the thought of pairing a fabulous pair of turquoise Ray-Ban Wayfarers with a candy pink top, orange pencil skirt and pale beige handbag on a yellow Christian Louboutin foundation, has fashion savvy shoppers flocking to Nordstrom for a pair.

Ray-Ban Wayfarers are being shown in turquoisecandy pinksunny yellowhot pink/black, mellow orange/tortoise, medium blue/white, leopard print as well as many other prints and color combinations. Ray-Ban Wayfarers can also have the lenses changed by an optometrist for Fashionistas who need prescription sunglasses.
