I have taken a liking to the pleated skirt trend this summer. You may recall a pleated skirt I posted in early summer, which you can see online here. I found myself reaching for it so often, I decided to pick up another one which I could wear now, and into the fall season.

This pastel blue pleated skirt has turned out to be my favorite! It is petite, so the length is ideal. I love it when I don’t have to shorten my clothing! The waist is a comfortable elastic which is easy to wear with a top tucked in. The fabric is also easy to wear on hot summer days. I love it!

There are so many ways to wear a pleated skirt this summer. I am looking forward to wearing this pastel blue pleated skirt with flats for a more casual look. It can also be paired with a bomber jacket, or denim jacket, street sneakers, and a bucket bag for an urban, “street style” type of look. I think it would be fun to wear it like that for a day of shopping on Union Square in the city!

Of course, my favorite way to wear it is with high heels. I love to feel taller than I am in high heels. Thank goodness for this pair of comfortable high heels! I love how the blues blend together. The matchy-matchy look was pure coincidence! Love that!

Have you taken a liking to pleated skirt this season? How do you like to wear your pleated skirt?

Thanks for stopping by!

Perfect pleated skirt

small pleated skirt pleated skirt for spring and summer DSC_0328how to style a pleated skirtblack and white pleated skirtgivenchy and a pleated skirt

Pictured: Earrings: Kendra Scott / Sunglasses: Dior (sold out, similar here) / Lipstick: c/o Dolce & Gabbana Dolce Rosa / Top: Gibson / Chain bracelet: Kendra Scott / Small cuff: Kendra Scott / Nail Polish: Chanel Mariniere / Handbag: Givenchy / Skirt: TopShop / Shoes: Valentino (old, current season here)

Pleated skirts have been a hot trend for the past couple of seasons. I have shied away from the trend since I am on the short side. At 5’4″ I have found that full midi skirts add weight to my short legs. Since the majority of small pleated skirts are either metallic, or a solid color, I found the style did not suit my body type.

Fast forward to spring 2016! TopShop came out with the perfect pleated skirt for those of us who want to wear the small pleated skirt trend, without looking like a giant ball of fabric! This black and white pleated skirt alternates colors in a varied pattern. The pattern is ideal for minimizing the fullness of the skirt. The lines bring the fullness down, without sacrificing any pleats, or skimping on fabric. It is all an illusion! Love that!

I am not sure if TopShop had short-legged, long-waisted ladies like me in mind when they designed their skirt, but I think they made the perfect pleated skirt for women everywhere with my body type; or any body type for that matter. Who doesn’t love a slimming silhouette?! Thank you TopShop!

For spring, I love wearing this small pleated skirt for church, and dressier occasions. When the warm summer temperatures begin a month from now, I am looking forward to wearing this skirt casually with flats, flat sandals, and a lightweight tee. I think a bucket bag would complete the casual, summer look I have in mind!

If you are looking for a slimming, pleated skirt to wear now, and throughout the summer season, this is the skirt of your dreams! I know it is the pleated skirt of my dreams! Love!

XOXO

New York Fashion Week winter style

Day Two New York Fashion Week: Hat: Wildfox / Sunglasses: Chanel / Earrings: Kendra Scott / Lipstick: Chanel Mighty / Coat: TopShop (on major sale!) / Scarf: Banana Republic (old, similar here) / Leggings: Hue / Gloves: Brian Atwood for Target (old, also love these-they look so fun!) / Handbag: Givenchy / Shoes: Rag & Bone (sold out, also love this pair)

It has been cold here in New York for fashion week! The lows have been single digits, and on Friday, the highs were in the 20’s. So to combat the cold, and display my winter style, I wore this cozy TopShop coat to stay warm. It worked like a charm!

This coat has been the perfect alternative to a basic black coat; I don’t event wear my black coat anymore! I love the faux fur detail, it really adds warmth, and texture to the coat. Can you believe this coat is under $200, and it is currently on major sale! I was so happy when I bought it on sale, it was like striking oil!

To give my winter style a pop of spring, I paired my coat with spring 2016 earrings, and my favorite cobalt scarf for a pop of bright, sunny weather color. I felt like it brought a little cheer to an otherwise cold, and dreary day!

Day two of New York Fashion Week was jam-packed with shows! My first show was Zimmermann at noon. It was so amazing! I loved all the details; stay tuned for my write-up on the show! After Zimmermann, Laura from Have Need Want and I hopped in an Uber and sped off to Issosy London, a children’s brand. Then we were off to meet L’Oreal backstage for the Pamella Roland show. The hairstyles were amazing! I can’t wait to show you how to get the runway look at home!

The day continued with O’2nd, Cromat, Nika Tang, Francesca Liberatore, and Demoo Parkchoonmoo. The shows were so amazing, stay tuned for my recaps on these shows!

Finally, at 945pm, after freezing in the cold all day, dealing with a dead iPhone battery, a dead iPhone backup battery, and no food, Laura and I found a fabulous restaurant named Westville. It had the most amazing farm to table menu with plenty of vegan and vegetarian options. It was the perfect dinner after a full day on our feet!

This version of my winter style proved to be comfortable, and warm, on a very cold, and busy day! If you are looking for a comfortable coat to wear now, and for next year, this is a great option! It is on sale, and in my opinion, it is really cute! You can find this cozy coat on sale here.

Stay tuned for more New York Fashion Week winter style, runway coverage, and behind the scenes posts!
