Getting back into boot cut

The past several years have been all about skinny jeans, but as we move into 2015, boot cut and flare jeans are gaining momentum. This means the formally “so three years ago” style is acceptable again; and may soon take over the number one denim style spot from the skinnies!

Since boot cut and flare jeans are making a comeback, I thought I would wear this pair of boot cut jeans to get myself back into the silhouette. Although I feel like skinny jeans make me look thinner, the boot cut jean is more comfortable. I also like the 1970’s retro vibe of boot cut jeans.

I am not ready to ditch my skinnies, they really do take about ten pounds off my 5’4″ frame, but a little bit of comfort and vintage flair mixed in never hurt anyone 😉 After all, I am a little bored of my skinnies, despite their slimming properties. What do you think of boot cut or flare jeans? Are you ready to rock the style or do you want to stick with your skinnies?

Fringe continues for resort and spring 2015

Fringe was a huge, up-and-coming trend in 2014. For 2015, this boho-chic trend is showing no sign of slowing down; in fact, it is speeding up! Designers have taken a fancy to the fringe trend and are adorning everything we can think of with strands of leather, fabric and more! Handbags, shoes, clothing, accessories and jewelry are being shown with fringe elements on them. From small fringe touches on the side of a handbag to all-over layers of fringe, the trend is taking the fashion runways, and streets, by storm.

The fringe trend comes from the boho-chic trend which has faded into a personal style look; rather than a front and center runway crowd pleaser. While flowing boho-chic silhouettes are not front and center, the fringe, flowing element is; and it is one of the more important trends for 2015.

When wearing fringe in the resort, spring and summer seasons, wear one standout fringe peice and keep the rest of your look simple. If you are wearing a pair of fringe shoes, opt for a non-fringe dress and try to stick with solid colors; no prints. This will keep your fringe peice as the key element in your look. Love that!

Looking to incorporate fringe into eveyday wear? Look for a casual fringe handbag in a neutral color. You can pair it with almost anything in day-to-life and look like you just walked off the runway. Flat sandals with fringe are another, daily item you can wear in order to incorporate the fringe trend into casual, everyday styles.

I personally love the fringe trend and have been carrying this cute little handbag in black, by Rebecca Minkoff, for the past few months. I am looking forward to continuing to wear it into 2015. What is your favorite way to wear the fringe trend for 2015?

Shoes trends: socks with comfort sandals

First, street style aficionado’s were spotted wearing comfort sandals; especially Birkenstocks! Then, these same style mavens were spotted pairing socks with their comfort shoes. Guess what happened next? You guessed it! The street style trend hit the runways and is showing no sign of slowing down as move into the new year.

The hottest trend in footwear right now, and moving into spring/summer 2015, is wearing socks with sandals. The socks can be thick, thin, nylon or cotton; whatever tickles your fancy. The sandals are flat and comfortable; often featuring simple straps.

Wearings socks with sandals was a huge trend back in the early 1990’s. Fashionistas across the Bay Area and beyond were spotted wearing mainly Birkenstock’s with socks. As the 1990’s evolved, and fashion-savvy shoe fans decided socks with sandals was a weird thing, socks were only worn with closed toe shoes, boots or athletic shoes. Never with sandals!

Fast forward to 2014 and socks are being spotted on the street with sandals. From the street, the style has gone onto the runways; making socks with sandals a street to runway trend for 2015.

The plus side of the socks with sandals trend, is that sandals can be worn in cold weather. The drawback to the trend is that, well, socks with sandals have their own unique look; let’s leave it at that. 😉

What are your thoughts on the socks with sandals trend? Will you be wearing it this spring?
