Nike Dunk review

It is entirely possible I have been on a sneakers kick the past two years. Ever since I started to have foot problems, I found sneakers were better for my feet than all my fabulous, sky high heels. In moving towards sneakers, my daughter introduced to me to the SNKRS app and the fun street sneakers from Nike.

Nike Dunks are a popular street sneaker which have been in high demand for many years. If you look at people’s feet, you will find people from teenagers through to Generation X, and possibly some Boomers, wearing Nike Dunks. This is a sneaker style and street style trend which transcends age and demographic. Love that!

You can find a few different types of Nike Dunks on the street. There are Nike Dunk Lows which are a traditional, low top sneaker. There are also Nike Dunk Highs which are traditional high-top sneakers, and the SB line which is geared towards skateboarding. Oftentimes, most SB styles are sold in skate shops rather than the SNKRS app or Nike stores. Although, you can find SB styles through Nike sometimes. I did manage to snag one pair!

Once in a great while, Nike will offer the chance to create your own Nike Dunk sneakers! This is really fun because you have many colors available to you, and you can design your own pair with the color combo you want. I have done this twice. Once with Nike Dunk Highs, which I ordered in blue and white, and once with Nike Dunk Lows which I ordered in mint green and a greyish-white hue. Love!

Nike Dunk sneakers are easy to wear with a variety of outfits. Of course, they can be worn with the obvious casual looks such as jeans, chinos, and shorts, but they can also be paired with dresses and skirts for a dressy yet sporty look.

What I love about Nike Dunk sneakers is that they are available in so many different colors! Many are one color plus white, but sometimes you can find them in three or more colors mixed together. They can match a certain outfit or be their own standout piece in an overall look. It is fun to find a pretty color and match it with a look! I also love my black and white Pandas because they go with literally anything! I feel like everyone needs a pair of black and white Dunks, often referred to as “Pandas.”

One of the drawbacks to the Nike Dunks is that the leather is not very soft. It is often stiff and easily creases. If you don’t mind creases, like me, then this will be OK with you. If you want your sneakers to keep their shape out of the box, you might consider adding an insert to the shoe or store them with a shoe shaper. One thing to note, the Dunk’s Nike allows you to create yourself seem to use higher quality leather which does not crease as easily, although they seem to fit a bit more snug than the off-the-rack Nike Dunk’s.

If you are like me, and need to wear orthotics, this can be a bit tricky. The insoles are glued inside the shoes. If you don’t mind ripping them out, it is easy to do. Then you can insert your orthotics. If you don’t want to rip out the insoles, you can wear an arch support band or add additional arch support to the existing sole. I wear mine with an arch support band and I am able to walk pain-free.

You can find Nike Dunk’s directly through Nike, or on the secondary market. Sometimes you will need to enter a lottery or draw through Nike or on the SNKRS app in order to snap up a pair you really want. If you can’t find the color combo you are looking for, you can buy from resellers but be careful! You want to make sure you are buying a legit pair made by Nike. I have linked to my favorites on the secondary market below. These are from reputable resellers, but always inspect them when you receive them to make sure you got the real deal!

There are plenty of colors to choose from through Nike right now. Here are my favorites! Please note, when you click on the black, grey, white pair, you will be taken directly to the create your own Nike Dunk low. Have fun designing!

I hope you enjoy your new Nike Dunk’s! They are a classic sneaker which you can enjoy for years; so, don’t be afraid to invest in multiple colorways! You can splurge all at once or invest in pairs over time. Love that!

Thanks for stopping by!

How many times have you looked for a pair of sneakers, and then not been excited about the available colorways? This has happened to me so many times! Over a decade ago, Nike started letting customers customize sneakers through their website. The original service was known as “Nike ID,” but has since evolved into “Nike by You.”

Every once in awhile I have gone onto Nike’s website and customized sneakers for myself. The last time I did this was in 2017, so it has been awhile! Normally I would customize a pair for either the gym or running. This time around, I wanted a neutral pair to wear as a street sneaker. I decided to customize a pair of Nike Air Zoom sneakers, and I love the result!

The Nike Air Zoom sneakers, which frequently appear on their website, often have a wavy design on the side. It gives off 1970s vides and offers a colorful look. I wanted the arch support and comfort of the Air Zoom, without the retro design and eye-catching colors, so when the Nike by You Air Zoom was offered in two designs, the wavy version and this woven version, I decided to customize the woven version!

The woven Air Zoom has a fresh look to it, and I love how Nike weaves fabric with leather. It has a nice texture and a modern look. I mixed a couple neutral hues and created a sneaker I can wear all year long, with pretty much anything. Love!

So, while you are putting your fall wardrobe together, and having trouble finding the right sneakers, check out Nike by You! There are several types of shoes you can customize, and Nike rotates the styles you can customize. Have fun with it!

How to win in the SNKRS and Nike app

how to win air jordan 1 snkrs app

Are you wondering how to win sneakers in the SNKRS app? Or maybe there is a coveted pair of Air Jordan 1 Mid’s dropping next week in the Nike app and you are wondering how to win in the Nike app? Well, I cannot guarantee you will win the draw for a pair of Air Jordan’s or Dunk’s in the SNKRS or Nike app, but I can give you a few tips which have helped me win the exact pairs of sneakers my kids want, my husband wants, and I want!

First off, let’s chat really quick about what is going on here. The IT sneakers among Gen Z, Millennials, GenX and Boomers are sneakers from the Air Jordan collection and the Nike Dunk collection. There are also special shoes which drop from Nike that are collaborations with hot designers and brands such as Off-White, Stussy, Sacai, and more. These collections range in price from $100 for a pair of Nike Dunk Low’s to over $200 for a coveted collaboration shoe. While much more affordable than an IT bag priced over $2000, these hard-to-get IT sneakers are more of a competition than the IT bag you see on the fashion week streets.

Men, women, and teenagers alike are working hard to find a pair of Jordan’s, Dunk’s or a special other shoe released by Nike on a daily basis. When these sneakers drop in the SNKRS app or the Nike app, there is a small, limited size run which is released. While some styles are released a few times per year, such as the popular black/white Nike Dunk’s also called the “Panda’s,” other styles are only dropped once, making them even more scarce for consumers.

This level of scarcity is causing people to go to the secondary market to purchase the sneakers they really want. There can be a problem with the secondary market. Sometimes they sell replicas, just like in the handbag market, so consumers need to be very careful. In addition, there is price gauging for really popular pairs. A pair of Nike Dunk High’s that normally sell for $125 direct from Nike, will sell for hundreds of dollars on the secondary market. Unless the pair of shoes you want is not going to be available from Nike again, I recommend watching the prices from resellers and being very careful. Please don’t pay thousands of dollars! I feel like $300 from a reseller is the limit. Anything more than that, unless it’s an investment shoe you plan to keep locked up in a safe, is not worth the overpriced markup.

Therefore, I am going to help you grab that pair of coveted Air Jordan’s, Dunk’s, Off-White’s, and more with these tips which have helped me win Pandas, my favorite shades of blue, and the colorways my kids have been coveting. I hope they work for you too! I want you to know how to win sneakers in the SNKRS app and how to win sneakers in the Nike App!

How to win sneakers in the Nike App

The two pairs of sneakers shown above are shoes I won in the Nike App. Nike releases their coveted sneakers in one of two ways; on the Nike App or on the SNKRS app.

Step one: download the Nike app and the SNKRS app.

Step two: Create a Nike account and make sure you add a form of payment right away.

Step three: Ensure you have a very strong password on your Nike account. These accounts are often targeted by hackers who want to obtain control of accounts so they can enter the draws on the apps. Use a good combo of uppercase, lowercase, numbers, and characters. Also save your password in your phone and/or computer. This way you won’t need to type it when ordering sneakers. Sometimes the app will ask you to verify your account while you are trying to enter the draw to win that coveted pair of sneakers. Don’t get caught trying to type your password in! Have it saved in your phone for easy and fast entering.

Step four: Browse the Nike app. Do a search on “Jordan Shoes” or “Dunk” or anything special you are interested in. I do searches every few days on those two phrases plus “Air Force 1” because I love those sneakers too. Nike drops new styles on a weekly basis, you don’t want to miss out on the colorway you have been waiting months for! Once you search and find new styles you like, favorite them and click the “notify” button. This will help you know when Nike will open the draw so you can enter to win the sneakers.

Step five: Check your phone settings. Make sure you have notifications enabled for the Nike app and the SNKRS app. You don’t want to miss the draw!

Step six: Mark your calendar for the date and time when the next sneaker drops that you want to win. Be ready with your phone a few minutes ahead of time, but don’t be too excited. The best things come to those who wait. . .

Step seven: The clock hits 7am and the coveted pair of sneakers you want just dropped. Don’t click on it yet. Right when it drops is when all the bots attack the shoe. Don’t let Nike think you are a bot! Take a deep breath and watch the clock. When the clock gets closer to 7:01am, it’s time. Click on the shoe you want and enter the draw. Nike may ask you for your password, but you have it saved in your phone so it will be easy and quick for you during this step. Nike will then place you in a line. Click the “OK” button. You can safely close the app and go back to work, your breakfast, the morning news, whatever you do to distract yourself. It can take anywhere from two minutes to twenty minutes to find out if you scored the sneakers. Be patient.

Step seven and a half: If there are multiple pairs dropped on the same day, don’t worry, you got this! I won three pairs in one day recently! Patiently click on one, then the next one, etc. I have won shoes I have clicked on at 7:03am. It’s OK. Nike knows you aren’t a bot because you were patient.

Step eight: The aftermath. You either won them, or you didn’t. If you won the sneakers, screenshot that celebration screen and do a little dance. You got ’em! If not, brush it off and prepare for the next drop.

How to win sneakers in the SNKRS app

how to win in the snkrs app

OK, you just read through the how to win sneakers in the Nike app tips, now let’s move on and focus on the SNKRS app. I have found the Nike App is a little bit easier to win shoes from than the SNKRS app; but that does not mean the SNKRS app is impossible. I have scored some amazing pairs of sneakers from the SNKRS app using the above tips. There are a couple difference between the Nike App and the SNKRS app. So here you are:

In reference to Step Four above, you don’t need to browse and search the SNKRS app. There are three tabs on the top of the screen, the tab on the right is the important one. It says “Upcoming” and this is the tab you want to click on. I love this tab because it is very well organized! The SNKRS app lists everything by drop date. You can scroll through the list and see which shoes drop on what date. You can easily click on the “notify me” button on each shoe you are interested in. This is an easy way to keep track of drops and see what you are waiting for. Follow all of the other steps listed above for the SNKRS app, and good luck!

A few things to keep in mind. If you are trying to get black/white Dunk’s, either low or high, don’t worry if you don’t win the first time. These drop a few times per year, and you will eventually win a pair. They are very popular and referred to as “Pandas.” The Jordan’s in Chicago Bulls colors are very popular too. You will eventually win a pair, they drop in different variations a few times per year too. Black and red pairs are often referred to as “Breds” and are very popular. Be careful if you try to purchase a pair on the secondary market, they are often faked. Same with the Off-White collabs, keep entering the draws for them, the secondary market can be priced high with a lot of replicas. You want to be careful.

Which coveted sneakers are your favorite? Mine are the Nike Dunk’s, both low and high, but I also love Air Jordan 1 low’s.

Thanks for stopping by, and good luck on the SNKRS app and Nike App!
