Two cool cats

wearing: large gold hoop earrings / Bobbi Brown lipstick “Lilac” / leopard print wrap c/o Chico’s / black bell sleeve sweater (on major sale & in 4 colors!) / Chloe Pixie / Chanel spring nail polish / skinny jeans / charcoal lace-up boots (on major sale!)

First off, don’t look at my hair! I had it tucked into my wrap and it looked so raggedy! I should have pulled it out of my wrap, but I had no idea it looked like that! So embarrassing. . .and yes, I just posted them on the Internet. Yikes! For the record, my hair doesn’t actually look like that!

OK, so how fun is this wrap from Chico’s?! Dawn and I both received the same wrap and thought it would be so much fun to wear it at the same time. If you ever want to attract attention, be a twinsie with your friend. It’s a hoot! We got a ton of smiles while walking through Santana Row in our matching wraps.

We met for a late breakfast at Cocola on Santana Row to chit chat about life, fashion week, and of course, fashion! I brought my middle child with me who enjoyed being one of the girls, and had fun snapping all of our pictures for us. Isn’t she a great photographer?!

This is actually the first thing I have ever owned from Chico’s. I love how thick the fabric is, and how cozy it is for a cold day. I originally planned to pair it with black jeans, but I have gained some weight over the past few months and when I went to put on my black jeans that morning, they didn’t fit! I settled for my go-to skinny jeans.

I love how the wrap looks paired with an all-black look. Doesn’t Dawn look fabulous?! That was how I originally planned to wear it! Oh well, I have ordered a bigger pair of black jeans to hold me over until I lose this weight. So, I can do the all-black look soon!

Have you ever worn the same thing as a friend, either by accident or on purpose?

Comfortable evening jumpsuit for winter

comfortable evening jumpsuit outfit idea affordable evening clutch handbagcomfortable evening jumpsuit outfit ideaaffordable evening shoescomfortable evening jumpsuit outfit idea

wearing: sparkling statement earrings / Bobbi Brown “Lilac” / faux fur coat (last seen here) (true to size) / sparkling black jumpsuit (also avl in plus sizes) (under $90) (runs big-order one size down) / celestial evening bag (under $50) / Chanel spring nail polish / black and gold evening pumps (sold out, also love SAVE or SPLURGE)

January is one of my favorite months of the year! There are so many personal holidays for my husband and I in the month of January. This month we celebrate our fifteenth wedding anniversary, both of our birthdays; and it is also Bay Area Fashionista’s eight year blogiversary! Wooo-hoo!

These events always prompt my husband and I to go out on the town during the month of January. Since it is cold, I like to wear something which is both festive, and covers me up a bit. Wearing a little black dress in the middle of January is not my jam. I love a good pantsuit or jumpsuit when the weather drops below sixty degrees.

In addition to having a fabulous little black dress in my closet, I also think owning a chic black jumpsuit is a must-have for impromptu evenings out; and when you just don’t have time to prepare an outfit for a special occasion!

This sparkling evening jumpsuit is both comfortable, and affordable. Love that! Can you believe it is priced under $90! That is such a great price! It has silver sparkles all over the fabric; I wish I had worn this on a sunny day in order to pick up the sparkles. When we went out, it was foggy and grey. Ugh! You will just have to take my word for it; it sparkles!!!

How is January for you? Are you still settling down after the holidays? Or, do you have parties and events planned?

Cozy faux fur on a winter day

wearing: bold blue earrings / Bobbi Brown lipstick “Lilac” / cozy faux fur coat / light blue scarf / long sleeve tee / Gucci Marmont Lady Bag (spring 2018!) / boyfriend jeans / Chanel spring nail polish / lace up boots (on major sale!)

So, if you have been following me for the past few winters, you may have noticed I am huge fan of faux fur. I love how funky, faux fur jackets and coats can be. They really elevate an otherwise casual, everyday look into something fabulous.

I originally chose this faux fur coat to wear with an evening jumpsuit I plan to wear later this month for my wedding anniversary, but I couldn’t wait to wear it. It is so cozy, and it fits so well! Plus, the price is so affordable! Love that!

We took these pictures in Capitola before enjoying brunch at Zelda’s last weekend. It is one of our favorite beachside restaurants, and we ate such a yummy meal. I had the bacon and eggs scramble, which was delicious, and my husband enjoyed the Eggs Benedict. Normally when we eat at Zelda’s, I order the Eggs Benedict, so I can attest that it is quite delicious. These are definitely my two favorite brunch dishes from Zelda’s in Capitola. If you’re local, I highly recommend trying them out; and ask for a table by the window. The view of the ocean is beautiful.

After brunch, we listened to music by the beach at the veranda and watched people trying to ice skate on a plastic ice rink. Um, it didn’t look very easy, so we decided not to try it. Have you tried skating on a plastic ice rink before? How was it?

That afternoon we took the kids to “The Mystery Spot” in Santa Cruz. Now, this is total tourist attraction, which is purely for entertainment. The whole thing was designed for fun; there isn’t really a mystery. That being said, I don’t want to spoil it for you if you have not been there, and everyone has to go at least once in their lifetime! The kids had so much fun, and our tour guide had the best jokes. It was really a lot of fun!

This was our last staycation day before school started up again. Our weekends for the next few weeks are full of the kids activities; and then I head to fashion week! Whoo-hoo!

What are some of your favorite staycation activities where you live?
