For spring break, we took the kids up to Lake Tahoe in order to ski, play in the snow, see a silver mine, relax at the beach, and have fun! The San Francisco Bay Area is about a four hour drive from Lake Tahoe, so this was a perfect road trip with the kids.

When we road trip with the kids, we always leave the house at a time when other people are not leaving their homes. This ensures an easy drive to our destination without hitting too much traffic. For our road trip to Tahoe with the kids, we left the house at 7am on Sunday morning. This was the best time to leave the house. Most people left for Tahoe Friday after school, or on Saturday morning since the public schools had spring break. This meant empty freeways, and highways, for our road trip to Tahoe with the kids! Love that!

It is always a good idea to stop on our way up to the mountains. The last thing we want is a child with elevation sickness. My favorite place to stop for a break on our way to Lake Tahoe is Auburn, Ca. If you would like to visit, it is easy to find. Look for the “Old Town Auburn” sign on Highway 80 and follow the exit. You will be right in the middle of town!

Auburn is an historic gold mining town. The Old Town Auburn area offers a few choices for meals, and snacks. We can also walk around and see historical spots to share with our children. It is a nice break from the road, and something educational for the kids. Now that’s win/win!

My favorite place to have a meal on the road in Auburn, Ca is Edelweiss. They offer a HUGE menu filled with brunch, and lunch items. My kids love it! I highly recommend it if you are road tripping to Tahoe, and would like a place to stop on your way up there.

I always like to be comfortable when I am on a road trip with the kids. Since it is springtime, I decided to go with a fun pair of embroidered jeans, my go-to casual tee, comfortable denim espadrilles, and my favorite handbag. This outfit was perfect for sitting in the car, and walking around Auburn with the kids.

We arrived in Truckee at 11:40am; even though we stopped for almost an hour in Auburn on our drive up. Sunday morning is definitely the best time to drive to Tahoe with kids!

Stay tuned! I have more articles coming up this week about our spring break trip to Lake Tahoe.

My road trip outfit to Tahoe in the spring season:

Best spring 2016 handbags

hottest handbags for spring 2016

From top left: saddle bag (#1 on my wish list! Under $1000) / red bag (classic bag, one my wish list!) / pale blue shoulder bag (under $300) / red mini tote (under $500 and comes in white!) / navy box bag (hot designer IT bag) /  circle tote (three colors in stock) (I pre-ordered one-love!)

Spring has sprung, and there are so many amazing handbags on store shelves for the season! Many of these bags are ideal for both spring, and summer; so they are perfect to buy now. As always, my wish list is bigger than my bank account, so some of these bags will remain a dream, while others, might get squeezed into my budget.

The spring 2016 season is all about several IT bag styles. Here are a few of the season’s hottest handbag trends, and my wish list above, fits into all of them.

Saddle bags: I did a full article on this trend here. They are classic yet nostalgic. I love the 1970s vibe saddle bags bring to the fashion table. They are lightweight, easy to wear everyday, practical, and so cute! My top choice for the season is this one.

Box bags: Structured box bags are so Jackie O. I love this trend, and I am waiting for it to explode. If you are not into carrying a box around, look at Mansur Gavriel’s soon-to-be-iconic circle bag. It has been selling out quickly, so if you are interested, you can pre-order yours online here or here.

Mini bags: This seems to be the trend which never dies. Despite designers not showcasing it in full force on the runways, (runway bags have been bigger the last few seasons), consumers love their mini bags. If you have not purchased one yet, I recommend this one. The price is moderate, and the style is perfection.

Large tote: This is not really a trend, more of a summer classic, and necessity. Everyone needs the perfect summer tote! For summer 2016, look for multi-colored totes, patterned totes, and stay away from solid colors. Totes for summer 2016 are F-U-N! I have my eyes on this one.

Handbag trends for spring 2016 are classic with a twist. Love that! What is your favorite handbag trend for spring 2016?

If I had a money tree, here is my entire spring 2016 handbag wish list, a girl can dream right?

bhane photoshoot san francisco

Bhane came to San Francisco to shoot their upcoming collection with local bloggers, and influencers. It was a fun chance to meet the designer in person, meet other local bloggers, and be part of an organized, large photoshoot!

I wore a denim dress by Bhane for the shoot which is the perfect closet staple for spring, and summer. I can’t wait to get the photos to share with you!

My favorite local coffee shop is actually a chocolate bar! Snake & Butterfly in Campbell offers their own in-house specialty chocolate, yummy gelato, hot cocoa, and of course, coffee. I always grab gelato, and a hot cocoa when I am in Campbell with my kids, or alone. It is a great place to enjoy a treat, and relax with a good book. How often do we have those moments?

I have been wearing this skirt quite often. On this day, I was a little tired so I paired it with my all-time favorite, go-to flats, my favorite handbag for spring, and a comfy tee.
