Over the Labor Day weekend, we had temperatures ranging from 95 to 108 degrees. We tend to get a heatwave this time of year every year, but this time, it seemed worse. In 2008, we moved from San Jose to Saratoga and it was 105 degrees the day we moved. Our movers were so tired from the heat, they stopped bringing furniture upstairs! It was kind of a nightmare to move in such extreme heat. I could never live in an area where these types of temperatures are considered normal. Thank goodness this only happens about once per year.

In order to escape the heat over the weekend, we went north to San Francisco. The city is usually a bit cooler then the south bay, so we hoped for bearable temperatures, and maybe even some fog. Of course the day we went, the temperature in the city was about 90, and the humidity was crazy high! My early fall outfit turned out to be a little bit warm for the conditions. This fun cape tee was perfect, but the jeans were a little too thick. Oh well, that’s life, right?!

Despite the heat and humidity, we managed to have a lot of fun. We took the kids to Chinatown; which is a part of the city we don’t normally think of taking the kids. There aren’t any “kid” destinations there; mainly shops, restaurants, and lanterns. The kids loved the shops and the overall vibe of Chinatown. I was afraid they wouldn’t like the crowded, hustle-and-bustle of this part of town, but they loved it!

Since we were in Chinatown, we knew we had to grab some dim sum. We stopped in at Peninsula Seafood Restaurant on Jackson, which offered us a wait time of thirty minutes for a table of five. It turned out to be a forty-five minute wait, but it was so worth it! The food was delicious, and my kids were in dim sum heaven. I definitely want to go back for more!

After we ate, we made the kids walk up to Coit Tower to check out the view. It was overcast, so not much of a view; but still a good walk, and the kids had fun. I thought it was so cute when the kids asked when we are going back to Chinatown! Looks like I have some city slickers on my hands! We will definitely go back sometime soon.

Did you have a heat wave over Labor Day weekend? What were your temps and how did you escape the heat?

Thanks for stopping by!

XOXO

Stripes for fall 2017

stripes fall 2017 stripes fall 2017 fall 2017 it bags stripes fall 2017 stripes fall 2017 stripes fall 2017

wearing: gold statement earrings / Chanel lipstick / fall stripe blouse / gold-tone bracelet / black leather watch / pale blue nail polish / fall dark rinse girlfriend jeans / red shoulder bag / fall suede booties (so comfy!!)

Stripes fall 2017 is a hot trend which started on the fall 2017 runways and has hit the streets for the upcoming cool weather season. I absolutely love stripes; especially when they are mixed up and going in all different directions. haha That is how they were shown on the runways!!

This stripes blouse for fall 2017 has turned into a great late summer, early fall piece. The fabric is lightweight, so it is easy to wear when the temperatures are in the 70’s. It is supposed to be a one shoulder top, but it appears to have slide up my shoulder when we took these pictures. It still looks cute! I just love this blouse!

I wore this outfit to meet up with my friend Laura from Have-Need-Want at Santana Row on Wednesday evening. It was fun for us both to take a little mommy break and get some adult time to ourselves! Big thanks to our hubbies who fed our kids dinner while we ate out!!

We met at 5pm in order to attend Kendra Scott’s fall collection kick-off party. Oh my! This collection is to-die-for! Watch for an upcoming post all about the fall collection. I really love it!

After the party, Laura and I ate a yummy dinner at Left Bank, and then window shopped around the Row. We did end up splurging a little bit at Sugarfina. So much for trying to lose ten pounds! Haha, those pounds are never going to come off me!

Stay tuned! Next week I will post my recap of the Kendra Scott fall kick-off party and show you all of my favorites from her beautiful new fall collection!

Cozy fall sweater for cool summer mornings

wearing: rose gold dangle earrings / Chanel summer lipstick / black v-neck tee / cozy grey sweater (fall 2017!)/ red shoulder bag / rose gold cuff / Chanel summer nail polish / black leather watchdark rinse girlfriend jeans (fall 2017!) / black Gucci slides (also love this pair under $100)

I am so happy the fog has been coming in overnight, and giving us cool mornings before the day heats up. This cozy fall sweater is turning into the perfect go-to piece for combating the cool, foggy mornings of summer.

This sweater is great for throwing on when the fog is in, then, when the fog burns off, it is easy to take off and either carry, stuff into a tote, or leave in the back of the car. It does not shed or leave fuzz behind; making it easy to wear over black. Love that!

My adorable little ten-year-old daughter snapped these pictures the other day before the fog had completely burned off. She is getting so good at using the camera! When I took the sweater off at lunch, my teenage daughter started eyeing it, and asking if she can borrow it. Hopefully it stays in my closet, and doesn’t end up in hers! I’m in love with it!

Today is the last day of early access for the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, and things are already selling out! Have you purchased anything yet?

Thanks for stopping by!
