fall 2013

Shop spring handbags for fall 2013

Now that the fall/winter 2013/2014 runway shows have ended, we have a snapshot into the upcoming trends for the cool weather season. This makes investment shopping an easier job as we head out into the shops for the spring 2013 season. One of the largest purchases a Fashionista can make for the spring season is a new handbag! Therefore, it is important to look for a handbag which will not only be fabulous for the spring 2013 season, but will work perfectly for the fall 2013 season as well.

The fall 2013 runways gave us small and medium sized handbags in rich autumn hues, deep winter colors and bright shades of cobalt blue, emerald green, yellow and red. With this color palette in mind, fall handbags from the runway were structured yet made with soft fabrications. The silhouettes included shoulder bags, clutches for both daytime and evening, hobo handbags and satchels.

With these runway trends in mind, we know that for spring 2013 we can find bright colors, we may find some autumn hues, and the size of the handbag is perfectly in line with the current season. Hobo handbags have not been in style for a few seasons, so this is a silhouette shoppers may easily find on sale! Love that! What better way to wear a new trend for fall than with a great deal!

Satchels, shoulder bags and clutches have been hot for the past three years, therefore, these styles are easy to find on store shelves right now. The most important factor in choosing a shoulder bag, satchel or clutch for spring 2013 which will offer longevity into fall/winter 2013/2014 is the color.

Look for handbags in neutral hues such as black, ivory, white, beige and shades of brown as well as bright hues. These will be the easiest handbags to find during the spring season which will carry into early 2014. To help inspire your handbag shopping at the investment level, we found a few fabulous spring 2013 handbags around the web which will be perfect for fall/winter 2013/2014! We assembled these beautiful handbags into the shopping widget below. Shop spring shoes which will carry you into fall

Shoes are always fun to shop for. If you lose or gain weight, your size remains the same! Shoes can make you taller and make a statement about your current mood or personality. Shoe also happen to be more expensive than clothing in many cases, therefore, it is important to look for a pair of shoes which will last longer than one season.

Pantone has given us the top ten colors for fall 2013; and many of these colors are exactly the same or similar to, some of the hottest colors in the spring 2013 color palette. This makes finding a fabulous pair of shoes which will last through 2013 and into early 2014 easy! Nothing can make a pair of shoes look more dated than the color; unless you are looking at the toe or the sole. Below is the fall 2013 color palette:

That’s right, the next two important factors in finding a shoe which will last through next year is picking the right toe and the right sole. Since heel heights are all over the board, as well as heel thickness, it will be difficult to go wrong in the heel department. (One potential shoe shopping problem-not an issue this year!)

The “IT” toe for spring 2013, as well as fall 2013, is the pointed toe. Pointed toe pumps are definitely the “IT” shoe of the season, and since they are closed toe, these beauties will work perfectly in the fall and winter seasons. Love this!

The next factor to consider when shopping for investment shoes is the sole. Although we all love a platform pump which rises up to new heights, platforms are on their way down to new lows. 2013 and 2014 will be all about the single sole, or flat soled, shoe. If you love platforms, keep your shoes from last year and re-wear them this year. This is not the time to invest in a new pair of sky-high platforms.

We found a few fabulous spring shoes which will also be perfect for fall 2013 and winter 2014 around the web and assembled them into this article. To shop this investment trend, please click on the shoes you love in the shopping widget below and you will be taken to the online shop where they are for sale. Hope you love them! Happy shopping, and stay fabulous

Top ten trends from the fall 2013 runways

New York, Paris, Milan and London have sent their last models down the fashion week runways for the fall/winter 2013/2014 season. Now that the four most important fashion weeks have come to an end, we are left with a flurry of new and continuing trends to look forward to, and covet, for the upcoming cool weather season.

Here are the top ten trends from the runways to watch for in fall 2013. Let’s see if they make it to the street!

1)      The small handbag: Gone are the days of the oversized handbag. Small shoulder bags, daytime clutches, evening clutches and satchels are hot for fall.

2)      Soft fabrics: Structured silhouettes made from soft fabrications such as velvet, cozy knits and silks are on trend for fall. Ditch the starch; it’s all about movement this season.

3)      Structured handbags: Although fabric is soft and flowing, handbags are stiffer than stiff. Look for this contrast when assembling your outfits. A structured handbag with a soft, flowing outfit is hot off the runway.

4)      The flat or “single-sole” shoe: Bye-bye platforms! Although a handful of designers are sticking to the stripper pump mantra, platforms are out. Look for flat, single soled shoes with a 1”-3” heel. Your feet will thank you and you will look fashion-forward. Love that!

5)      Black is the new black: No mystery here, black is back and no color on Earth can replace it.

6)      Below-the-knee: Ah, the ever-changing hemline! For fall 2013, look for hemlines which are below the knee. Hoochie dresses are out. Lady-like is in.

7)      Prints: This trend is continuing! Look for dresses, jeans, denim and suiting with prints.

8)      Single breasted coats and jackets: Fall 2013 is all about one row of buttons. Look for single breasted coats and jackets.

9)      Layers: Here in the San Francisco Bay Area, we are accustomed to dressing in layers. After all, who knows when the fog will roll in (or out) and surprise us! Apparently the rest of the world got the memo, layers are in. Thankfully we already know how to rock this trend. Please clap for the Bay Area.

10)   Autumn hues: Can it be? Yes it can! Traditional fall colors are hot for the autumn season! When has this happened in recent history?! Look for rich shades of burgundy, dark mustard, olive green, forest green, (any green), navy, dark blue, (any blue), black with white, black with black, chocolate brown, dark brown hues, deep purples and orange.

11)   Leather: OK, we couldn’t keep it to ten trends, so here is a bonus trend! Leather is still hot. Look for skirts, pants, jackets, coats, shirts and more in both real and faux leather.

There you have it! The top ten trends (ahem-eleven) from New York, Milan, Paris and London. Now, it should be interesting to see which of these trends make it from the runways, to store shelves, and then to the streets! Only time will tell
