Wearing: Coat: Ellen Tracy  (also in brown and petite!) / Lipstick: Tom Ford in nubile / Scarf: Armani (sold out, also love this one) / Gloves: REI (old, also love this pair) / Jeans: Gap / Boots: Sorel (sold out, similar style here)

One of the fabulous things about living in the San Francisco Bay Area is the close proximity to Lake Tahoe. I love going to Lake Tahoe in the summer to enjoy the lake, nature and for outdoor activities. I also enjoy going to Lake Tahoe in the winter in order to play in the snow, sled and snowboard.

We recently returned from a quick family trip to the snow in Lake Tahoe, south shore. The snow pack was not very good, so we only hit the slopes for one day. Although there were hardly any lifts open, my kids had a blast and loved riding on the gondola up the mountain. For the remainder of our trip we let the kids play in the snow and we went sledding. The snow was perfect for sledding and the kids had so much fun sledding down the hill for HOURS! I drank a lot of hot cocoa during the sledding escapade 🙂

I was extremely thankful that the kids didn’t mind the skiing conditions and had a blast sledding and playing in the snow. Since I didn’t get to snowboard very much, I was thankful for my very warm and cozy coat; as well as hot cocoa!

Have you gone up to the mountains yet this ski season? If so, did you find good snow for skiing? If so, where did you go?!?!

Puffers jackets and vests for winter 2015

Now that winter is well on its’ way, it is time to think about serious outerwear for the cold weather season. One of the coziest, and trendiest, types of outerwear for the winter 2015 season is the puffer.

Puffers come in many different forms. Puffers come in three distinct styles; coats, jackets and vests. There are also different types of puffers including down, part down, synthetic down, natural stuffing and synthetic stuffing. In addition to styles and stuffing, puffer coats, jackets and vests come in different levels of warmth and many different colors! Whew! That is a lot to think about when shopping for a warm puffer this winter season!

Some of my favorite trends in puffer coats, jackets, and vests this winter season include asymmetrical zippers, winged collars, and mixed quilting. These three trends for winter 2015 in puffer coats help to make this traditional, puffy outerwear both fashionable and attractive. Love that!

I found a few amazing puffer coats, jackets and vests around the web and put them together in order to create the shopping widget below. Many of these styles are selling out fast; so now is the perfect time to buy a puffer coat, jacket or vest. I am trying to decide which one to buy myself! which style of puffer is your favorite for winter 2015?

Military Coats for fall 2014

Pictured: Earrings: Bauble Bar / Lipstick: c/o Dolce & Gabbana “Petal” / Dress: DVF  (last year, also love this one) / Coat: Guess (on sale!) / Handbag: Chanel (similar) / Nail Polish: Essie Jiggle Hi Jiggle Low / Shoes: Valentino

The weather is starting to cool down, which means, we get to wear our coats! Yes! I needed a new black coat this season since my old coat was starting to look worn, so I was thrilled when I found this Military style coat on sale. I love the buttons and the way the warm, thick fabric drapes around the neck when it is buttoned up. I also love the off-center buttons on the back of the coat. My apologies for not showing a photo of the back, the pictures did not turn out very clear. We took these pictures quickly before I left for San Francisco last Saturday for the Parisian Haute Couture Fashion Show. This is the outfit I wore to the show.

Military coats happen to be a big trend for the fall 2014 and winter 2015 seasons. Although we usually see this style in traditional Military Green every autumn, this year designers have extended the style into shades of brown, black, blue and more! I love the structure afforded by the Military silhouette since it offers more design than a simple lady coat, single breasted coat, robe coat or double breasted coat. There is something regal about the buttons on top of the shoulders on Military coats. Love that!

I love this coat by Guess I found on sale. It offers Military styling with a twist. The coat has an asymmetrical front with minimal buttons, yet offers a recognizable Military vibe. The coat is also comfortable, doesn’t catch lint (this is huge!), and I like how it looks! This is also the first coat I have purchased in several years, so I am a little bit giddy 🙂

What do you think of Military coats for fall 2014 and winter 2015? Is this a trend you will be wearing?
