When it comes to New York Fashion Week, we wear pink faux fur. Literally. Not only did I wear faux fur on Saturday during New York Fashion Week, my friend Laura from Have Need Want also wore shades of pink faux fur; oh we were quite a sight together!

Seriously though, when in the world can you wear a shaggy, pink faux fur coat in a regular day to day life? It can only work during fashion week; or any fashion related event. Now, when it comes to shaggy black faux fur, it can be worn all the time, for any occasion! If you are thinking of a fun, faux fur coat to keep you warm now, and next year, my coat is in stock in black; and it is on sale! Love that!

I am so glad I packed this fun and furry, pink faux fur coat. The temperatures on day three of New York Fashion Week dropped down into single digits. This little California girl was frozen solid! Thankfully my coat kepy me toasty warm. Even the pockets were fabulous! When my iPhone battery dropped down to nothing due to the cold, I took it out of my purse, and placed it in my pocket. The combination of my body heat, and the warmth of this coat, kept my iPhone charged! Loved it!

This fun, fluffy, pink faux fur coat would also be a kick to wear on a trip to Tahoe. Wouldn’t it be fun to walk into a restaurant and be the only person not wearing a giant ski jacket? I am sure I would get some shade thrown my way, but hey, live a little right?

Day three of New York Fashion Week was a fun day. I started off the day at Taoray Wang, then felt really special with my assigned, front row seat at one of my favorite designers, Leanne Marshall. I got the most fabulous photos of her beautiful collection! Stay tuned for my write up on her show!!

After Leanne Marshall, I went to Michelle Helene’s presentation, and then went to one of my favorite shows; Monique Lhuillier! My assigned seat was straight up from the photographers risers, so my pictures show the models as they turned. Although I didn’t get really good shots of the models head to toe, I did get some fun photos which show the models turning motion. Since her inspiration was taken from the early 1970s, I thought the motion added a groovy vibe to my view. Loved it! Stay tuned for my write-up on her show too!

I had a blast being a giant, pink fur ball on day three of New York Fashion Week. It was little Pink Panther, and a little pink Cookie Monster. When Laura and I walked together, the street style photographers definitely started snapping! It was really fun. Now I need to find another avant-garde occasion to wear this pink faux fur coat again! It is quite fun!

Capes for fall 2015

Jacket and coat alternative for fall 2015 by Bay Area Fashionista

From left: Pink cape / Black cape / Tan Ruana (I bought this for fall and love it! Under $100!!!) / Grey Wrap / Black Work Appropriate Cape

Fall is almost here, this means it is time to think about how to stay warm! Capes, wraps, shawls, and ruana’s are a few of fall 2015’s hottest ways to keep cozy instead of wearing a traditional jacket or coat. Love this trend!

With the 1970’s trend in full swing this autumn, capes, wraps, shawls, and ruana’s are the perfect way to achieve the ultimate 70’s silhouette while staying warm. Love that!

They are also fabulous when fall hands us in-between weather. Sometimes autumn days can be cold enough to wrap up, but not cold enough for a wool jacket or coat. Capes, shawls, wraps, and ruana’s are perfect for those days! They are also fabulous for when the fog rolls in 😉

I love wearing a cape, shawl, wrap, or ruana on a mild, fall day. They are the perfect way to keep warm when the weather hovers in the 50’s through low 70’s on autumn days.

This fall, I am excited to wear my new ruana. This ruana is lightweight, yet cozy. It will be perfect to throw over jeans, casual skirts, and casual slim dresses this fall; especially when the fog rolls in!

A cape would be perfect this fall for dressier days. I am in love with this rain cape by Maxstudio, and also this classic black cape by Classiques Entier. I would also love to add this casual black cape by Topshop to my fall wardrobe. It is under $100!

I found a few fabulous capes, shawls, wraps, and ruana’s around the web and assembled them into the shopping widget below. I hope you love them! Happy shopping, stay warm, and stay fabulous 😉

The pink coat

I had my eyes on this pink coat since it first came out last fall. At the time, it was hard for me to justify purchasing a bright pink coat at full price; especially since we only have about two months of cold weather during the winter season here in the San Francisco Bay Area. When the coat went on sale, I was thrilled! Although there are only a handful of cold days left until spring is in full swing, I know I can wear this coat in New York next month and also next winter. So I will still get plenty of wear out of it! It is soft, comfortable and just plain amazing! Yes, I am in love with a coat. <<sighs>>

Are there any pieces you have been eyeing since fall and were able to snap up on sale this month? If so, do tell!!
