Chanel Cavaliere nail polish summer 2016

Chanel has channeled their autumn archives for inspiration when they created the nail polish hues for their summer 2016 collection; at least, in my humble opinion. Almost every fall season, Chanel creates a beautiful brown nail polish hue which is timeless, and timely, for the autumn season. For summer 2016, Chanel Cavaliere nail polish is the Parisian design house’s early autumn gift to nail polish fans everywhere. It’s a fall brown!

There are no two ways around it; Chanel Cavaliere nail polish for summer 2016 looks like a fall brown. It is a medium-dark hue with a slight, sparkling undertone. It really makes me crave dark chocolate. It is entirely possible I have consumed a bit more chocolate this week than normal. Hmm . . .wonder why?! Ha!

Chanel Cavaliere nail polish is a beautiful, brown hue which is timeless, and fabulous. I love this shade! It is perfect to wear now, if you are already bored of your summer color palette, and it is also perfect to wear during the late summer months when we are all feeling like transitioning into the autumn season. I get August and September vibes from this color. Just sayin’ 😉

Although Chanel Cavaliere nail polish is part of Chanel’s new Longwear colour collection, I have found this particular hue wears like the old Chanel nail polish formula. I tested it out with one base coat, two coats of Chanel Cavaliere, and one gleaming top coat. I received one chip on my left pinky, and it wore slightly at the tips of the nails. The entire home-manicure lasted for eight days; which is quite good.

I love Chanel Cavaliere nail polish as a neutral hue for the fall season; I also feel like it would be a good color on toe nails since it is neutral. It should not clash with any summer footwear; that is always a plus!

Until I transition to fall, I will be using Chanel Cavaliere as my go-to toe nail polish. When autumn approaches, I will go back to my hands. What do you think of this very-autumn-hue for the summer 2016 season?

Chanel Canotier nail polish review

Chanel Canotier nail polish, is a hot, new golden hue from Chanel’s longwear nail polish collection. This edgy version of soft gold is part of Chanel’s summer 2016 beauty collection, “Collection Dans La Lumiere De L’Ete.” The summer 2016 beauty collection contains four nail polish hues; so stay tuned for more reviews in the coming weeks from this collection! Love it!

You may have seen me post reviews of gold nail polish colors in the past. Although I have tested several gold nail polishes, none have had an edgy gleam in their color. Chanel Canotier longwear nail polish has a very, very slight black undertone, which turns naturally warm gold, into a cool, golden hue, which is unexpected, and hard to find elsewhere. Love!

How do I describe Chanel Canotier nail polish? Well, let’s consider this; gold is naturally a warm hue. The more karats gold contains, the deeper, and warmer, the color saturation. Ten karat gold is soft, while twenty-two karat gold is a metallic almost-mustard-like hue which evokes memories of seeing Egyptian treasures in a museum. In other words, pale gold is from the modern world, dark gold is more pure, therefore reminiscent of ancient times; before metal smiths, and jewelers, mixed nickel, and other metals, with gold in order to strengthen the metal for jewelry design; as well as to keep the cost down.

Chanel Canotier nail polish is like a soft, ten to fourteen karat gold hue; yet unlike the gold we are used to seeing in modern times, it is not warm, it is cool, like silver. In addition, there is a very slight, black undertone to Chanel Canotier nail polish, which is what makes the color cool, instead of warm. This is definitely the edgiest gold nail polish I have tried!

Although Chanel Canotier longwear nail polish is from Chanel’s summer 2016 beauty collection, it is a classic color which can easily become a go-to staple in one’s nail polish wardrobe. I would love to wear this color during the upcoming holiday season. It is neutral, classic, yet, it is cutting-edge. Love!

I tested out Chanel Canotier nail polish with one base coat, two coats of color, and one top coat. The nail polish lasted eight days. I only changed it because my nails grew. Chanel’s new longwear collection is living up to it’s name. It refuses to chip! I did the dishes, and cleaned one bathroom, without gloves to test out the strength of the nail polish, and lo and behold-no chips! It did not even wear off on the edges. This is strong stuff.

Fun way to wear a vintage brooch

Have you ever wondered how to wear a vintage brooch? Or perhaps you want to wear a vintage brooch in a new, and unexpected way; so you are looking for a fun way to wear a vintage brooch. I accidentally discovered a new way to wear my coveted vintage brooch last week!

This vintage brooch was originally purchased by my Mother in the 1960’s. It is a beautiful, sparkling green brooch which shines brighter than an emerald. I have loved this brooch since I was a small child; playing dress up in my Mother’s closet. When I asked to borrow it one day in my mid-20’s, my Mom told me she doesn’t wear it anymore, and knowing how much I have always loved it, told me I could keep it! Yay! Since then, I have always treasured this brooch as if it were a million dollar piece of jewelry.

Last Thursday, I was putting on my dress, pictured above, for the Junior League Sustainer dinner. I had eaten a thousand calorie lunch that day, and was a bit bloated; or maybe I have gained weight and will not admit it. Ha! Anyway, the button at the waist was popping a bit, and I really wanted to make this outfit happen. So, instead of pinning the brooch where I would normally place a name tag, I thought it might be the perfect cover-up for the popping waist button. It worked!

Not only did the brooch hide the popping button, it added a new dimension to the outfit as a whole. I love it! I feel like I have accidentally found a new, fun way to wear a vintage brooch. I am looking forward to wearing it like a belt buckle, without hiding a popping button, on future outfits.

What is your favorite way to wear a vintage brooch?
