Western ruffles

Wearing: bold shell earrings / Chanel sunglasses / MAC Lipstick / Topshop blouse (sold out, also love this one, and this one-not similar but SO CUTE!) / bold lapis ring / Chanel Gris Obscur nail polish / Gap jeans (old, similar pair here) / black Proenza Schouler satchel / guitar strap for handbags / burgundy suede loafer pumps (under $150!!)

Have you ever been drawn to an article of clothing because it reminded you of something? This ruffle shirt reminded me of two things; my childhood obsession with western clothing, and a television show named “Little House on the Prairie.”

The ruffles on the blouse reminded me of the costuming from the show, and they also reminded me of the ruffle shirts I wore when I was around seven and eight years old. I used to put outfits together with brown cowboy boots, a cowgirl hat, corduroy skirts, and ruffle shirts! My western themed phase lasted until I was on a boat with family friends one day sailing around the bay and that cute little western cowgirl hat of mine blew right off my head into the bay! Cue massive amounts of tears . . . I get a little sad just thinking about it.

This ruffle blouse definitely takes me back in time to my childhood, and it has turned out to be a great piece to wear right now! I love pairing it with jeans, a-line midi-skirts, and denim skirts. The fabric is on the thick side, so it is definitely better suited for temperatures below seventy degrees. I know I will get more use out of it as we head towards winter here in the Bay Area.

Unfortunately this ruffle shirt sold out quickly. If you are looking for a great shirt this fall season which can easily be worn casually, check out this striped blouse, and this understated ruffle shirt. You can see an outfit post of the second choice here.

Do you have any pieces which bring back memories?

Fall horizontal stripes

stripes for fall bay area fashion bloggerjw anderson pierce bag san francisco style blogger casual fall outfit idea

Wearing: gold sculptured earrings / Chanel sunglasses / MAC lipstick / striped fall blouse / dark wash flare jeans / sculptured gold ring / Chanel Gris Obscur nail polish / JW Anderson Pierce bag / black boots (old, love this pair under $200)

Horizontal stripes have always been a pattern I have been drawn to, so when they appeared as a strong trend for the spring 2017 season, (see spring 2017 trends from the runway online here), I was really excited! This short sleeve blouse with horizontal stripes for the fall 2016 season, instantly caught my eye; not because it is a spring trend, but because I loved the stripes pattern and silhouette!

Our weather during the fall season in the San Francisco Bay Area is mild. Temperatures swing between eighty degrees and sixty degrees, so a short sleeve top with jeans on casual days is perfect. If the fog rolls in, simply top the look with a lightweight jacket, and you are ready to take on the fall weather! Love that!

I love how this top has a swing silhouette which is reminiscent of the 1960s, and a colorful pattern with a 1980s vibe. This season is all about transitioning from a strong 1970s vibe, to a mixture of 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s influence; so this mix is a great way to go from fall 2016 into the new year. In the spring season, the 1980s will rise to become a more important influence then the 1970s on fashion and style. Start thinking ahead when you shop for next year!

When the spring season hits, I am looking forward to wearing different type of horizontal stripes. What is your take on the emerging trend?

Bare Traps booties for fall

Wearing: bold mother of pearl earrings / Chanel sunglasses / lipstick c/o L’Oreal in Julianne / long sleeve burgundy tee / faux shearing vest (color sold out, linked to darker color, similar here) / mixed metal ring set / Chanel Emeraude nail polish / black bucket bagdistressed skinny jeans / booties c/o Bare Traps (on major sale for under $100! Also here in black under $100)

Our fall weather pattern has finally started! Yay! This means I can pull out all the cozy items from my closet I have been longing to wear. The moment I spotted these comfy booties from Bare Traps, I knew they would look fabulous and cozy with this soft faux shearling vest I have been staring at in my closet for over a month!

These brown fall booties are so incredibly comfortable-words cannot describe how amazing they feel on my feet! There is the perfect amount of padding inside the shoe; and it feels like my toes are being cradled. I love them so much! The leather is soft, and the knit details are equally soft, and comfortable. I love how the sole has traction, so when the weather cools down even more, I won’t have to worry about slipping on ice, or wet land. Love that!

Designers in New York, Paris, Milan, and London took the lug sole bootie, and the traditional hiking boot, and made them avant-garde for the fall season. This means lug soles, and hiking boot styles, are hotter than hot for the autumn months; and well through the winter season too. I love how a bootie style which is both practical, and comfortable, has also joined the ranks of fashionable, and hot! These Bare Traps booties are perfect!

Before Bare Traps introduced me to their fall collection, I was not aware of the brand. I feel like I have been missing out! They have the most adorable boots, and booties, for the fall/winter season. I love so many styles of Bare Traps booties for the autumn season, it was hard to pick just one pair. There are two more pairs on my wish list I hope to add to my closet this season. These tall boots, and this pair of lace-up booties. Both pairs are priced under $50! Aren’t they fabulous! #MustHave

I am looking forward to walking miles and miles in my new Bare Traps booties this season. Have you tried their boots, booties, or shoes before? If not, you must check them out! The regular prices are moderate, and some of their fall collection is on sale right now; so the prices are a-ma-zing!
