I love learning about new designers in the San Francisco Bay Area. We are such a culturally diverse, and politically complicated, section of the Earth; which I believe sparks incredible creativity when it comes to art, fashion, tech, and more! So when I learned about Dualitas jewelry, I was intrigued.

Dualitas is an amazing, emerging designer jewelry collection designed right here in the Bay Area, in Palo Alto. The jewelry has been designed for more than just fashion and art; it has been designed with each stone’s metaphysical properties, and their positive effects on the wearer, in mind. The result is amazing!

All of the pieces Dualitas has designed, are not only unique in design, many of them are designed so that the stones actually touche the wearer’s skin; thus allowing the positive metaphysical properties of the stone to transfer to the skin. Love that!

I was taken aback when I saw the beauty of each piece at Dualitas. The geometric designs are modern, and the choice of metals are fashion-forward. The stones are precious or semi-precious; and their natural  beauty shines through on each piece.

Many of the pieces offer cutting edge, modern styling, while some of the diamond pieces offer vintage, art deco styling which is breathtaking. My Dualitas wish list is a mile long!

If you are looking for a fine jewelry gift this holiday season, or an upscale fashion piece, then  Dualitas is the place to go! They have so many fabulous pieces which are perfect gifts for that very special someone on your list, or for yourself!

You can check out Dualitas collection online at Dualitas.com or pop into their Palo Alto store located at Town & Country Village, 855 El Camino Real, ste. 16.

The Academy of Art University showed their fall / winter 2015 /2016 collection during New York Fashion Week on Saturday, February 14, 2015 in The Theater at Lincoln Center. There were fifteen designers who presented ten collections; four of which were collaborations between Fashion Design and Textile Design students at AAU. On the runway, we viewed eight womenswear collections, one mixed menswear/womenswear collection, and one menswear collection.

It is always thrilling to watch the Academy of Art University runway show at New York Fashion Week. These talented and creative students are learning and expanding on their creativity right here in the San Francisco Bay Area. To be able to see what current students and recent graduates are designing, is nothing short of amazing. This is the future of the fashion industry!

The fall 2015 collection from the Academy of Art University featured cutting-edge silhouettes, outstanding textures, and a fresh take on how to use textiles in fashion. The sweaters you see in the photos above are actually woven with strips of leather; not yarn. You can see a better view of the textiles in the IMG Fashion video below.

According to Simon Ungless, Executive Director of the school of Fashion, “This group of designers focused on transformation. They used fabric manipulation and printing techniques to change the inherent qualities of textiles to create new textures and surface qualities. There is a focus back to the body and wearability in silhouette, which the designers have utilized advanced tailoring techniques to achieve.”

The Academy of Art University designers who presented their work at New York Fashion Week for fall 2015 included; Emmanuelle Ciara Jones, Ghazaleh Khalifeh, Christian Willman, Xiaowei Liu, Stella Xingyu Hu, Han Tang, Tam Nguyen, Erin A.F. Milosevich, Paulina Susana Romero Valdez, Kevin C. Smith, Andrea Nyberg, Ozanhan Kayaoglu, Farnaz Golnam, Xue Yang, and Oom Terdpravat.

Ever Ivy is a fabulous brand designed by San Francisco Bay Area designer Liliana Ventura and made right here in California. I love how the pieces take inspiration from our culturally diverse and politically complicated landscape. The day-into-evening collection features neutrals and prints made from soft fabrics; which are not only nice to the touch, but incredibly comfortable!

I absolutely love the Audrey Dress by Ever Ivy worn in the photos above. There is a “1960’s meets modern day vibe” to the dress which makes it easy to wear with current accessories. This dress is perfect for a date night with my husband, or a girls night out! When the weather cools down as we move towards winter, the Audrey Dress by Ever Ivy will look amazing paired with tights and lug soled high heels. I’m looking forward to wearing it in different ways according to the occasion and weather!
