Spring 2015 is bringing us a nod to the 1970’s. There was 1970’s inspiration all over the runways for spring 2015 in New York, Milan, Paris and London. After seeing this trend on the runways explode on the street for spring 2015, I decided to shop my closet for a little 1970’s inspiration.

Gap’s Long & Lean jeans have been a longtime favorite of mine; and with the skinny jean trend, mine have sat in my closet begging to be worn for the past few years. I was thrilled to take them out and look at the 1970’s silhouette these jeans offer. They also happen to be a LOT more comfortable than skinny jeans! Love that!

Military green and military jacket styles are also a continuing trend from 2014 which is proving to be important for 2015. So, I was happy to find my military green, military inspired style jacket from last year fits perfectly into this continuing trend. I’m looking forward to wearing this 1970’s inspired outfit now and into spring 2015.

What do you think of the 1970’s silhouette and trends including boho-chic, military and flare jeans, coming into style for spring 2015?

Spring 2015 wish list

Spring 2015 is on the horizon which means this is the perfect time to shop for the upcoming warm weather season! As styles shift towards a 1970’s vintage vibe, I find myself drawn towards accessories and make-up; perhaps because this is quickest way to update one’s wardrobe!

Since I already own flares and trouser jeans, I feel like my casual wardrobe can transition into the new season. What I really need are shoes, a handbag or two, and rose hued make-up! (Beauty spoiler: Rose scents and hues are hot for the spring season!) I also want to find a few knee length a-line skirts with a true 1970’s vintage look. I may also look for one of DVF’s famous wrap dresses to add to my wardrobe. After all, what screams 1970’s more than DVF’s iconic wrap dress!

Although the accessories on my wish list are not all a nod towards the 1970’s, they are on trend for the season and would work with my current wardrobe.

Also on my radar. Have you heard of Charlotte Tilsbury Beach Sticks, pictured above? They sound amazing. Charlotte Tilsbury’s Beach Sticks can be used on both your lips and cheeks. They offer a dewy, beach look. Definitely on my wish list! You can see a demonstration video here.

What is on your radar and wish list for the spring 2015 season?

Suede, nubuck and faux-suede handbags for fall 2014

There is a new handbag trend in town; and this one takes a cue from vintage handbag styles of the 1970s. Suede, nubuck and faux-suede are popping up on handbags for fall 2014; and this trend is proving to be the hottest up-and-comer since the mini bag. While fringe, mini-satchels and backpacks all have their place in fall the 2014 handbag line-up; the suede handbag is the unexpected star of the pack. The soft, inviting fabrication offers vintage appeal while offering a fresh alternative to the basic leather, faux leather, exotic skins and canvas we have been seeing on handbags over the past decade.

Suede, and suede-like fabrications including nubuck, faux-suede and ultra-suede, offer a casual, relaxed vibe which is welcome in the world right now. As un-fussy handbags have moved to the forefront of fashion, sans logos and extra finishes, suede offers texture to a simple style while adding warmth and remaining understated.

In addition to adding depth to an understated handbag style, suede also adds an authentic vintage feel to fringe handbags; another nod to the 1970s. Designers are also using suede, and suede-like fabrics, for blocking and trim on handbags. This adds dimension and texture without always adding a contrasting color to a bag.

Since suede is casual in nature, this is a great trend to have some fun with during the fall season. Look for fall 2014 colors such as dark teal, hunter green, brown, black, grey and luxurious deep purple. These colors will work well with autumn’s overall color palette and add an instant update to your wardrobe. Love that!

I found a few fabulous suede, nubuck, faux-suede and ultrasuede handbags around the web and assembled into the shopping widget below. I hope you love them! Happy shopping, and stay fabulous 😉
