White after Labor Day? For shame! Of course, we have been saying that for about a decade now, so why is this new? Well, it might not exactly be a new trend, in fact it could be a new classic look. White for fall 2015 is starting to look more like an investment look, rather than a trend. Imagine that!

The all-white look, or adding white pieces onto an ensemble as a neutral, after Labor Day, has become a standard way of dressing over the past decade. The all-white look is starting to become what the all-black look enjoyed for decades; the go-to look for almost any occasion.

White for fall 2015 can be the perfect neutral in a wardrobe for the autumn season. White can be an accessory which matches anything, or it can be a favorite wrap, shawl, poncho, jacket, or go-to sweater. White for fall 2015 can also be an all-over look; making it the ultimate alternative to wearing all black.

How can I qualify all-white, or white as a year-round neutral, as a new classic? Well, let’s check out the facts. Over the past ten years, wearing white after Labor Day has been considered OK. Although it has been looked at as a seasonal trend, the all-white look has been holding strong; season after season.

All-white looks were dominant on the spring 2016 runways last month; proving the look is continuing into next year. It will not stop! This means white pieces are a great investment this season; or any season. In fact, white is the most versatile neutral after black; since shades of brown are seasonal, and navy is lighter in the spring than the fall.

Although all-white ensembles can add weight, a reason I don’t wear all-white, we can all enjoy wearing white without going completely tonal. White accessories such as a handbag, scarf or pair of shoes, are perfect for enjoying white after Labor Day without adding weight to our figures. My favorite way to wear white is by carrying a white handbag. Although, I am eyeing this white poncho for fall. Doesn’t it look soft and cozy?!

I found a few fabulous white items for the fall 2015 season, and assembled them into the shopping widgets below. I hope you love them!

Last year, we watched as box clutches, and small, boxy handbags began to emerge as a new trend in small handbags. For the fall 2015 season, this trend has caught some speed, and is proving to be the hottest emerging trend of the season.

Boxy handbags, and trunk inspired clutches, are popping up on store shelves everywhere for the fall 2015 season. To add fuel to the fire, trunk clutches also popped up on the recent spring 2016 runways in New York, Paris, Milan, and London; proving to the fashion world that this is a trend to be taken seriously.

Thankfully, this is one trend you can wear now; and be prepared for it to explode in 2016. Trunk clutches are being shown in small, and mini sizes, for the fall 2015 season; and also for the spring 2016 season. Some have hidden shoulder straps, while other trunk clutch offer a small top handle.

Trunk clutches for fall 2015 can be found in neutral colors on both both vegan and leather fabrications. There are also resin versions, and alternative fabrications; adding to the variety of the trend.

There is no one color or design which stands out among trunk clutches this season. The idea is to find a trunk clutch which adds a little bit of fun and sass to your ensemble. So while neutral options are always a good idea, this is one trend you can have some fun with when it comes to patterns and colors.

Trunk clutches can be worn with casual through to formal attire. They are the ultimate day into evening handbag; as long as you don’t need to carry too much with you. Trunk clutches tend to be small, with unforgiving interiors.

Which trunk clutch started it all? Louis Vuitton’s Petite Malle trunk clutch started the trend. If you want to original trunk clutch, this is one to look for. If you are open to any trunk clutch, there are plenty out there to choose. from.

The last model has walked off the New York Fashion Week, spring/summer 2016 runway, and left the world with a whole new set of amazing trends to look forward this spring season.

Over the past few seasons, designers have favored 1970’s inspiration with a little bit of 90’s, 60’s, and 80’s inspiration thrown into the mix. For the spring/summer 2016 season, the decade of influence has shifted. The 70’s are still present, but the 60’s have risen to the forefront of New York fashion.

Here is a list of trends from the runways at New York Fashion Week. It should be interesting to see which of these trends make it from the runway, to the streets!

Color trends: The most prominent and eye-catching colors on the runways were vivid. Designers favored shades of blue, green, and pink.

All-White: In contrast to a brighter color palette for spring 2016, designers loved the all-white look. Look forward to all-white ensembles, dresses, accessories, and more!

Short hemlines: Gone are the days of the modest midi. Designers favored mini-skirt hemlines with an a-line silhouette for the spring 2016 season. Start heading to spin and step classes! Those legs will need to be in tip-top shape come March.

Geometry: Spring 2016 is all about structure, and geometric lines. Look for large, geometric earrings, structured clothing, geometric patterns, and structure.

Color Blocking: The trend that refuses to die. Look for bi-color blocking, and contrasting paneling on attire this spring.

Asymmetrical hemlines: In contrast to the mini-skirt this spring, look for midi and maxi lengths with asymmetrical hemlines. See, the 70’s are not dead yet 😉

Ombre: Who doesn’t love Ombre? Look for ombre fabrics as a fun alternative to color blocking this spring.

Box bags: As fashion moves to a more structured silhouette, so do the handbags. Look for boxy, stiff, and structural handbags this spring season. The sizes are small to medium, and offer one top handle. Although most designers opted for square or rectangular boxes, cutting edge IT bag designers Mansur Gavriel have gone with structural circles. This will be a bag to watch for 2016.

Strappy shoes: Never fear, your strappy sandals will still be here! Designers are still showing strappy shoes, strappy sandals, tassels on shoes, tassels on boots, wrap-up styles, tie up styles, bright colors, and suede. Since these are continuing trends, your shoe game will be strong.

Florals: Revolutionary! Can you believe it?! Designers are showing florals for spring. Look for small floral prints this spring season.

Pale Pink: Another trend which refuses to die. Look for the continuation of all blush or pale pink outfits. Shoes, bags, clothing worn together in pale pink for spring. It’s a tonal look.

Solid Colors: Although designers showed small florals, and geometric patterns for spring, solid colors took the cake for the upcoming warm weather season.

Bi-Color Pleats: Heaven forbid your pleats are all one color. Pleats are bi-color for spring. Don’t be caught with a solid color pleated skirt, it will be so LY.

Blazers: The topper of choice for spring seems to be the blazer. Look for office-appropriate styles, as well as casual blazers, which will top jeans or casual mini-dresses.

Lace: Designers loved lace everything for spring 2016. Look for lace overlays, trim, and all-over design.

Overall, designers showed playful collections for the spring/summer 2016 season on the runways during New York Fashion Week. There is no reason to take fashion too seriously this season. It is a transitional season where the 70’s are still OK, but the 60’s and 80’s are on the rise. Feel free to mix up your hemlines, go with muted, neutral, or bright colors. Wear all white or pale pink without fear. Think go-go girl meets office girl; and you’re right on trend.
